Touring Warbird Park | Myrtle Beach Air Force & Military Memorial
While exploring around Myrtle Beach I came across the Warbird Park, which accommodates several old fighter aircraft so I had to pull over for a closer look. Nothing fancy with this edit…just felt like keeping it simple.

Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Part One
Myrtle Beach Air Force Base was closed in 1993. The Warbird Park is on display next to the former main gate in a wooded area. It displays the F-100D Super Sabre assigned to the 354th TFW 1956-1970, A-7 D Corsair II assigned to 354th TFW 1970-1977, and the A-10A Thunderbolt II assigned to the 354th TFW 1977-1992. The park also features a trail lined with historic displays of the base history. Part of the trail leads to an observation area of aircraft taking off from the Myrtle Beach International Airport. the Wall Of Service is also available for view containing engraved black granite nameplates of Airmen who served on the base. If you or someone you knew served on this base and would like to have your name placed on this wall, please follow this like.

My A-10 - 79-0173 in 1988 at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base
My assistant crew chief (also a Todd) and I went the extra mile on this airplane. This was right after getting a fresh coat of paint. We also painted the letters on the tires to give them that white letter tire look. We polished the hubcaps and the ladder to a mirror finish. It most likely was the sharpest A-10 in the inventory and our plane was selected to be the Wing Commander's plane. I traveled around to a few airshows with it during that time. I ended up getting Crew Chief of the year in 1989 for Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Much credit goes to my assistant crew chief for that! I make a short appearance at 41:08. :) Also, I had worked on F-16s (including the Thunderbirds) when I was stationed at Nellis AFB at Las Vegas from 1981-1983. I also worked on F-4E and F-4G models at Spangdahlem Air Base in West Germany (before the wall came down) in 1983-1986.
