Rostock is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Rostock is on the Warnow river; the district of Warnemünde 7 miles north of the city center is directly on the Baltic Sea coast.
This is the third port on my eleven day Baltic cruise on the Emerald Princess. In this video I visit St. Mary's Church and Market Square in Rostock before returning to the ship in Warnemünde for the sail away.

The Baltic sea reminds me of my childhood and great vacations with my family. I took a bike ride with my favorite person to explore the beautiful beaches along the coast. If you are ever in Warnemunde, this is a must to explore the more natural side and simply get around quicker in the town. I will also take you to a hidden small but mighty bee keepers home that sells honey. Enjoy and thumbs up! ????

Weihnachten in Warnemünde
Rostock hat gleich 2 Weihnachtsmärkte, den allseits Bekannten in der Rostocker Innenstadt und den kleinen, aber Feinen in Warnemünde auf dem Kirchenplatz. Ein Bummel über diesen ist gemütlich, denn er ist überschaubar. Die Lichter strahlen eine bezaubernde Energie aus.
Als Untermalung der Filmaufnahmen ist ein passendes Musikstück hinzugefügt worden. Der Schriftsteller Michael Terpitz hat den Text zu diesem Lied gedichtet. Die Gruppe Midnight Blue hat dazu die Melodie geschrieben und komponiert.
Astronomische Uhr in Rostock mit neuem Kalenderblatt
Es war ein historischer Augenblick: Am 1.1.2018 wurde in der Rostocker Marienkirche die Kalenderscheibe der Astronomischen Uhr gewechselt. Nach 133 Jahren waren die Daten auf der bisherigen Scheibe in der Silvesternacht abgelaufen.

After a short transfer to the main tramway station, board an exclusive tram, which is still Rostock's main transportation system, and ride into the heart of the city. Upon arrival, step back in time to see Rostock,Mecklenburg Vorpommern's main highlights during a guided walk. Proceed to northern Europe's oldest university, the University of Rostock, founded in 1419 and built in Italian Renaissance style. Continue on a leisurely stroll through the Kroepeliner Strasse and Am Neuen Markt and explore the quaint shopping streets, which have flourished since the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990. You'll see the 15th century Town Hall with its 18th century Baroque front structure, and St. Mary's church built around 1398. Enjoy a guided tour of this church before spending some time at your leisure (strictly time permitting). After reuniting with your guide, walk down to the jetty to begin a relaxing cruise along the Warnow River, transferring you back to Warnemunde. During your approximate 50 minute cruise, you'll be served some typical snacks and refreshing drinks or German beer.
Note: The order of the sights may vary. St. Marien church is currently undergoing renovations; therefore, some paths of the church and the astronomical clock cannot be seen. Most shops in Rostock will be closed on Sundays.

Step back in time on a city walk through Rostock, Mecklenburg - Vorpommern's largest city, passing by the University of Rostock, the oldest and largest university in continental northern Europe, a city gate which survived the ravages of time, the 'New Market' Square lined with six original carefully preserved, gable houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, the Town Hall, and St. Mary's Church, an imposing brick Gothic church built in the 13th century. See the convent of the Holy Cross and the adjacent medieval city wall. View the modern functional buildings (concrete slab structures) built during the 1960s and in contrast the little fishing village Warnemunde, acquired by Rostock's town council in 1323, before returning back to your ship. This tour is a compilation of the best sightseeing attractions Rostock has to offer! Note: The order of the sights may vary. Inside visit of the Marien church is not part of the tour. You may visit the church on your own leisure time. Since it is currently undergoing renovations, some parts of the church as well as the astronomical clock cannot be seen. Most shops in Rostock will be closed on Sundays.
