Warsaw University of Technology, Politechnika Warszawska.
After German troops were dislodged from the liberated Warsaw by the Soviet Army and Polish People´s Army, classes started in improvised conditions on 22 January 1945. By the end of the year, all the pre-war faculties were re-opened. Old and war-damaged buildings were rebuilt quickly; new ones were erected. In 1951 the Warsaw University of Technology incorporated the Wawelberg and Rotwand's School of Engineering.
The Academic and Research Centre in Płock was created in 1967.
During the war years the losses of the Polytechnic were enormous, 50% of buildings were destroyed, and 90% of the interior furnishings [1] . The first post-war years are, above all, the reconstruction of destruction and subsequent further expansion of the university. During the war, many engineers and scientists were forced to rebuild the country, so the demand for qualified technicians was enormous. Warsaw University of Technology has tried to meet these expectations. By the end of 1945, all pre-war faculties had been opened, and a number of new ones were organized in the following years.
On December 15-22, 1948, the Unification Congress of the Polish Workers' Party and the Polish Socialist Party took place in the Main Building of the Polytechnic . The building and the surrounding area were decorated according to this event with flags, banners, propaganda slogans, portraits of party, workers and labor leaders.
During World War II, despite enormous material losses and repressive measures, the Warsaw University of Technology continued to operate underground. Teaching continued in clandestine and open courses, in vocational schools, and from 1942, in a two-year State Higher Technical School. Approximately 3,000 students took part in the clandestine courses and 198 earned engineer diplomas. Scientific research was conducted, as 20 PhD and 14 assistant-professorship qualifying theses were written. There was work that were to serve the reconstruction of Poland after the war and constitute the foundation for the development of science. Students and professors secretly worked on projects. Professors Janusz Groszkowski, Marceli Struszyński, and Józef Zawadzki conducted a detailed analysis of the radio and steering devices of the German V-2 rockets, at the request of Polish Home Army Intelligence.
In 1898, the Technological Section of the Warsaw Society for Russian Commerce and Industry, whose director was engineer Kazimierz Obrębowicz, collected funds for the opening of Emperor Nicolas II University of Technology. Classes, with Russian as the language of instruction, started on 5 September in the building at 81 Marszałkowska Street. They were soon moved to new buildings, built especially for the institute. They were designed by Bronisław Rogóyski and Stefan Szyller.
On the day of the opening, the university had three faculties: Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering and Construction. In June 1902, the Faculty of Mining was opened. Poles constituted the majority of students until 1905, when their number reached 1,100.

Headquarters in Warsaw
At the Warsaw centre, scientists identify problems, directly participate in industrial projects, create and evaluate innovative practical solutions, conducting research works in conditions similar to those of actual industrial production. Their activities also include studying and manufacturing biomaterials such as: ceramic blocks for prosthetic restoration, cements for filling tooth defects, implants for reconstruction of the ear auditory apparatus. The Institute owes its leading market position primarily to its highly qualified staff who care for its development and prestige.
The Department of Ceramic Technology engages in research of, e.g., solid and porous construction materials, materials for heating elements, ceramic materials of high mechanical strength, materials resistant to thermal shocks in a high-temperature working range.
Ceramic materials applied in new technologies should be free from porosity and defects. That type of improved modern ceramic materials can be produced at the Department of Nanotechnology, where they are sintered in a Hot Isostatic Press.
The Department of Decoration Agents solves technological problems of producing colours for decorating ceramics, glass and enamelled surfaces. It is our task to put forward new solutions and proposals. Therefore the Department, combining tradition and modernity, develops new technologies of decorating ceramic products, including laser methods, which produce very interesting effects.
The Concrete Research Center CEBET has high achievements in research and implementation of the technologies of aggregate and aerated concrete as well as in the technology of manufacturing semi-finished concrete products.
Licenses and accreditations guarantee high quality research conducted at a modern laboratory where, for example, material analyses of glass and ceramics are performed.
For many years the Institute has been co-operating with the industry in the area of product certification and quality management system. It employs experienced staff and the certificates it has obtained add to its reliability in the eyes of market participants.
Creativity, unconventional thinking, passion in the search for new solutions, being open to modern ideas - that is the potential we offer our customers.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping!
