Bainbridge Ferry [Seattle to Bainbridge Island] Drive Washington 4K USA
4K UHD Ferry Ride - Bainbridge Island WA - Seattle Day Trip - Kitsap Peninsula
Drive on to the Bainbridge Island ferry from the Colman dock terminal at the downtown Seattle waterfront. We take a ride aboard the Washington State Ferry System. This is the most popular ferry route in the western United States. Bainbridge locals refer to the ferry as 'the boat' and thousands of passengers walk/bike/drive aboard to commute to Seattle daily.
The regular ferry was out of service on the day we traveled. This smaller boat is the WSF M/V Walla Walla. It was constructed in 1973 and rebuilt in 2003. It is a Jumbo class ferry that regularly serves the Seattle to Bremerton route. It can carry 188 vehicles and 2,000 passengers.
The Seattle terminal is also in the process of being rebuilt and much construction can be seen from the ferry waiting area.
We hope you enjoy!

The Seattle–Bainbridge ferry is a ferry route across Puget Sound between Seattle and Bainbridge Island, Washington. The route was called the Seattle–Winslow ferry before the city of Winslow annexed the rest of the island and changed its name. [Wikipedia]

Puget Sound Ferry - Washington State - Beautiful!!!
Beautiful scenery in every direction on the Keystone Ferry to Port Townsend, not every day is rainy in the Pacific Northwest, as a matter of fact this was during a heatwave with temperatures in Seattle reaching into the 90's F.
a loop of the Olympic Peninsula has to include at least one ferry crossing to experience the Pacific, and it is very affordable. The crossing here with a car and 2 people was less than $15 dollars. On some days you might even catch a glimpse of some killer whales and if it is raining then take it in stride, everything has its beauty.

Seattle, Washington - Washington State Ferries on Puget Sound HD (2014)
Washington State Ferries is a passenger and automobile ferry service owned and operated by the Washington State Department of Transportation that serves communities on Puget Sound and in the San Juan Islands. It is the largest passenger and automobile ferry fleet in the United States and the third largest in the world by fleet size. The service is also the largest in the world based on the number of vehicles carried, having carried 11 million annually.
Puget Sound is a sound in the U.S. state of Washington, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, and part of the Salish Sea. It is a complex estuarine system of interconnected marine waterways and basins, with one major and one minor connection to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the open Pacific Ocean — Admiralty Inlet being the major connection and Deception Pass being the minor. Flow through Deception Pass accounts for about 2% of the total tidal exchange between Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Puget Sound extends approximately 100 miles (160 km) from Deception Pass in the north to Olympia, Washington in the south. Its average depth is 450 feet (140 m) and its maximum depth, off Point Jefferson between Indianola and Kingston, is 930 feet (280 m). The depth of the main basin, between the southern tip of Whidbey Island and Tacoma, Washington, is approximately 600 feet (180 m).
The term Puget Sound is used not just for the body of water but also the Puget Sound region centered on the sound.

Day 270 of 365 Things To Do In Edmonds, WA - Washington State Ferry
Early Ferry Service - Washington State Ferries came into existence with the state's buyout of Puget Sound Navigation in 1951. Ferry service around Puget Sound has changed tremendously over the course of the last century.
The ferry system was originally intended to provide temporary service until a network of bridges could be built connecting the west and east sides of Puget Sound. In 1959, however, the legislature rejected the plan to build numerous cross sound bridges. At that time, the responsibility for managing the ferry system was shared by the Toll Bridge Authority and the State Highway Commission.

The Seattle–Bremerton ferry is a ferry route across Puget Sound between Seattle and Bremerton, Washington. Since 1951, the route has primarily been operated by the state-run Washington State Ferries system, currently the largest ferry system in the United States. Kitsap Transit also runs passenger-only fast ferries service on the route.
The Seattle–Bremerton ferry route was once known as the Navy Yard route. Before ferry service, the route was served by steamships and steamboats, such as the Inland Flyer. The sternwheeler Bailey Gatzert, once considered one of the most prestigious vessels to operate on Puget Sound and the Columbia River, was converted to an automobile ferry and as such became the first ferry to run on the Seattle-Bremerton route. Another vessel to run on the route was the unique streamlined ferry Kalakala.
From 1986 to 2002, Washington State Ferries operated passenger-only service on the Bremerton route using specialized high-speed boats. After the service was cancelled, Kitsap Transit contracted with private companies to operate a similar service for several years, and later debuted its own service, Kitsap Fast Ferries, on July 10, 2017.
The route from Seattle departs from the Washington State Ferry Terminal on the central Seattle waterfront. Assigned to the route as of July 2017 were the Super-class ferry Kaleetan and Olympic Class ferry Chimacum
