Rong Kluea Market (ตลาดโรงเกลือ) - Aranyaprathet, Thailand
Go to: for more travel and street food.
Welcome to the Rong Kluea Market (ตลาดโรงเกลือ) in Aranyaprathet on the border of Thailand and Cambodia.
I took a bus from Bangkok's Mo Chit bus station directly to the Rong Kluea Market (ตลาดโรงเกลือ).
Bus Cost: 207 Thai Baht
Bus Ride: 3 - 4 hours (it took us longer due to Bangkok flooding)
The Rong Kluea Market (ตลาดโรงเกลือ) is a gigantic sprawling market full of fake designers goods, trinkets, clothes or all kinds, soccer shirts, and even a huge fresh food market. Of course, you can get great Thai food at the market as well!
Have a great time at Rong Kluea Market!

- à Bangkok : spectacles, parades et feux d'artifice sur les rives du Chao Phraya, sous le pont Rama VIII ;
- à Sukhothai : l'un des événements les plus réputés pour Loi Kratong avec son spectacle de sons et lumières et danses au parc historique ;
- à Chiang Mai : le Yee Peng Festival (le 16 novembre 2013) promet concours de lanternes, spectacles de feux d’artifice et radeaux sur la rivière et à la Thapae Gate notamment ;
- à Ayutthaya (le 17 novembre 2013) au Wat Tha Ka Rong :
- à Suphanburi, sur les bords de la Tha Chin River ;
- à Samut Songkhram, avec le Annual Leaf Sheaf Loi Krathong Festival au King Rama II Memorial Park et au Wat Phumrinkudeethong ;

TOP 3 TEMPLES IN CHIANG RAI - Thailand White Temple & More!
Here are the Top 3 Temples in Chiang Rai you must see while visiting! Seeing the famous Thailand White Temple was a bucket list item as it’s regarded as one of the best temples in Thailand. But, there is more to Chiang Rai than just the White Temple. Find out which temples you need to visit by watching our Top 3 picks!
After visiting dozens of traditional Thai temples throughout our travels, we decided to visit the unique and unconventional temples during our trip to Chiang Rai. Our first stop, bright and early, was to the famous Thailand White Temple, also known as Wat Rong Khun. It is an absolute necessity to arrive at the Chiang Rai White Temple early, 8am to be exact, to avoid the massive amounts of crowds that surround the temple around early afternoon. The White Temple is owned by a popular artist from Chiang Rai Thailand who has grown to be one of the most influential artists in the country. Although the Wat Rong Khun is not traditional, it is one of the most unique Thailand temples in existence. The Chiang Rai White Temple is open from 8am-6pm and costs 50 Baht to enter.
Our second stop of the day was the Chiang Rai Blue Temple, also known as Wat Rong Seur Ten. We put this on our list of top 3 temples in Chiang Rai because of the sheer artistry that went into creating this temple. In fact, the Blue Temple in Chiang Rai was created by an artist who was a student of the creator of the White Temple. For that reason, you will see similar styles of art between the two temples. The most impressive aspect of the Blue Temple was easily the inside. Unlike the White Temple, you can film and take pictures inside of the Blue Temple. Wow, were we happy about that! The inside of Wat Rong Seur Ten is something out of a Michelangelo painting, it’s that amazing. The entire inside, along with every inch of wall and ceiling is completely covered in amazing mural art and religious design. It’s a sight to behold. The Chiang Rai Blue Temple is open from 8am-8pm and has a free admission.
Lastly, we visited the Chiang Rai Black House, which isn’t a temple per say but rather a museum. Many people also call this the “Black Temple” because most of it’s buildings are designed in a Thai temple style. The Black House is the lifetime collection of yet another famous Thai artist which he leaves on display for tourists traveling through Chiang Rai. The Black House grounds actually consist of 40 buildings on a vast landscape, so crowds aren’t really an issue unlike the other two temples. The Black House has the most expensive admission at 80 Baht per person, and is open from 9am-5pm.
If you have any questions about the top 3 temples in Chiang Rai please leave a comment down below and we will respond as soon as possible. We highly recommend seeing all three locations including the Thailand White Temple, Blue Temple, Black House and it’s grounds. We hope you enjoyed our latest Chiang Rai Thailand travel vlog. ★ ★ ★ วัดอินทรวิหาร - Wat Intharawihan (Mahanikaya) ★ ★ ★
Wat Intharawihan (วัดอินทรวิหาร) or written: Wat Indraviharn, Wat Luang Pho To, Wat Rai Phrik, Wat In Thon Wihan, Wat In Bang Khun Phrom,Wat Bang Khunphrom Nok and Wat In, is a royal monastery of third class, in Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (กรุงเทพ) and is nearby to Banglumpoo (บางลำภู), Khao San Road and Khaosan.
- Location:
The Wat is at the northern edge of the Banglamphu area of Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. Access to the temple is by boat along the Chao Praya River close to Thanin Wisut Kasat. Road access is through local transport. The northbound Samsen road leads to this wat, which is hidden below the elevated expressway. Also called Wat In, of the late Ayutthaya Kingdom , when it was called Wat Bang Khunphrom Nok for the name of the suburb where it is located.
- History:
The Wat is a royal temple categorized as Class III, which was built at the beginning of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, and was originally called Wat Rai Phrik Vegetable fields Wat. It was so named as its was surrounded by vegetable gardens. The land where the temple is situated was provided by Rama I to accommodate prisoners of war. Vajiravudh refurbished it with the help of Anouvong of the Kingdom of Vientiane, whereafter it was known as Wat Intharavihan. Chao Inthwong also brought a priest from Vientiane to preside as the abbot of the temple. The temple then was given a new name as Chai Inthawong.
- Features:
- Buddha statue:
The Wat's main architectural depiction is a 32 metres (105 ft) high, 10 metres (33 ft) wide standing statue referred to as Luang Pho To or Phra Si Ariyamettrai (Maitreya). Building the Buddha statue was started in 1867 and it took sixty more years to complete it in 1927. The image is made of brick and stucco. Ajon Toh, the then Abbott of the temple was the inspiration to build it. He died at the foot of the image in 1871 when it was being built. A gilded bust of this abbot is enshrined at the temple entrance.
The Buddha image is carrying bowl and stairways at the sides to the back behind the statue provides access for devotees to paste gold leaf on the statue. The image is called Luang Phor To. In 1982 during 200th anniversary of the establishment of Bangkok city the image was refurbished and fitted with Italian golden mosaic tile. The statue which is decorated in glass mosaics tiles is gilded with 24-carat gold. The topknot, called ushnisha, of the Buddha statue contains a relic of Gautama Buddha that was given as a gift by the Government of Sri Lanka.
The enshrinement of the relic in the ushnisha was done by Prince Vajiralongkorn, the knot was placed in 1978. In 1982, during 200th anniversary of the establishment of Bangkok city, the image was refurbished and fitted with Italian golden mosaic tiles.
- Temple:
The temple has an ordination hall called the Ubosot (prayer hall) also known linguistically as Bod. Its architecture reflects the style followed during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It was refurbished in 1982. Italian marble is used to decorate the lower part of the hall and the walls are decorated with traditional paintings. The sema boundary posts marking the limits of the Ubosot are mounted over small naga images. The murals on the walls have the theme of the daily life. There is also a practice at this venue to make and sell amulets.
An image of Phra Puttahachan, who was an abbot in the temple is enshrined in a separate newly constructed chamber in the temple. The image is made of wax and is placed over a spring of water. Water collected from various regions of Thailand is preserved in containers placed in the shelves in the chamber. Air conditioning is provided to preserve the wax image. The same is dimly lighted and devotees do meditation here as it has a special ambiance.
- Guanyin shrine:
There is another shrine here dedicated to Guanyin, a female form of Avalokiteśvara, a bodhisattva of Mahayana Buddhism.
- Worship:
Devotees who visit the temple for worship offer mackerel, a boiled egg and a garland of flowers which they place with reverence at the foot of the Buddha image.
Wat Intharawihan is also close to Bang Khun Prom Palace, Bang Bua Thong Railway Station, Democracy Monument, Vimanmek Teak Mansion, San Chao Chui Bo Niao (ศาลเจ้าจุ้ยโบเนี้ยว, เจ้าแม่ทับทิม), Phra Ratchawang Dusit, Rongphayaban Wachira (โรงพยาบาลวชิระ).
The school is Rongrian Wat Intharawihan (โรงเรียนวัดอินทรวิหาร).
