LONDON WALK | Crossing Waterloo Bridge from Somerset House | England
A first-person perspective London walk tour from Somerset House to Waterloo Bridge.
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring Somerset House and Waterloo Bridge. The route starts outside Somerset House, then through its courtyard and main building to reach its beautiful terrace overlooking the River Thames, before travelling across Waterloo Bridge, ending within viewing distance of the BFI IMAX.
Sights seen along the tour include Saint Mary-le-Strand Church, the City of London's skyline, boats on the River Thames, London Eye, National Theatre, and Hayward Gallery.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded February 2017.

Waterloo Bridge / London
Waterloo Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge crossing the River Thames in London, between Blackfriars Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. Its name commemorates the victory of the British, the Dutch and the Prussians at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. Thanks to its location at a strategic bend in the river, the views from the bridge (of Westminster, the South Bank and the London Eye to the west, and of the City of London and Canary Wharf to the east) are widely held to be the finest from any spot in London at ground level.

Waterloo Bridge - Auld Lang Syne Farewell Waltz - Vivien Leigh Robert Taylor Song Theme Dance 1940
Waterloo Bridge scene. Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor dance the romantic Farewell Waltz to Auld Lang Syne, the old Scottish folk song. The text is a poem written by Robert Burns in 1788. The ballad is traditionally played on New Year's Eve during merry and festive dancing and bidding farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight. It evokes lots of feelings, emotions and memories. The song symbolizes new, happy beginnings and a farewell to past times. The melody is played at celebrations, festivities and also at funerals and other sad and sentimental occasions.
Waterloo Bridge from 1940 with Vivien Leigh and Robert Taylor portrays a deeply romantic and tragic love story between beautiful Myra, a ballet dancer, and handsome, kind Roy, a British army captain, whose roads cross and hearts unite during the first world war. Their future happiness is destroyed by unforeseen and sad circumstances caused by the war.
Myra receives terrible but erroneous news that her beloved army captain has fallen in combat during the war in France. Heartbroken and crushed by the devastating news, Myra sinks into depression and loses her will to live. She had lost both her parents and has no family. To survive, she resorts to prostitution when she is fired from her ballerina job due to her relationship with the captain. At Waterloo station she finds her customers, usually homecoming soldiers.
There, suddenly one day, Myra and Roy meet again. He has come back to London for her and is thrilled to find her at the station, thinking that she is waiting for him there. He was never killed as the report said in the newspaper.
Myra tries to feel the same but she finds that she cannot marry the man she loves because of the shame of her past. She feels that she would never be accepted had people known the truth, and she could not bear to live a lie, or hurt Roy by telling him. She tells him that she loves him only, and always will, and soon after she mysteriously vanishes.
During his search for Myra in London Roy finds out the truth, but he still loves her and tries to find her, in vain. She commits suicide on Waterloo bridge where they first met, throwing herself in front of a lorry. Roy is left with only his memories of the tragic young woman he fell in love with and intended to marry, who died just as their happiness together was supposed to begin.
He finds their good luck charm on the bridge where she died and keeps it close to his heart for the rest of his life.
