Creepy Robots at Miraikan || Odaiba
Creepy, interesting, and out of this world exhibits at the Miraikan. Basically translated as the 'future museum.' Why they had ninjas? I'm not sure but it was the most fun I've had at a museum!
The ninja exhibit is only a limited time so please go while you can! Great for kids too!
Don't forget to download the app as well and check out Jenny's channel because she does all the voice overs for the app! My phone was dying from checking Pokemon Go so often so I didn't download it this time! Sorry!~

Bill's Design Talks: Tangible Earth
Professor Shinichi Takemura will demonstrate his magical Tangible Earth project, an interactive multimedia representation of our planet, presented on a glowing globe that shows our world in realtime view for daylight and weather patterns. He spins it with his hands as he explains the meaning of the images, calling up a series of events and predictions about ocean currents, tsunamis, global warming, earthquake patterns and so on. His demeanor is quiet and professorial, as he explains the richness of the scientific data that he has assimilated, making it instantly easy to understand. He succeeds in giving us a holistic vision of the state of our planet.
Takemura - sensei is a producer known for his numerous cutting-edge IT-driven social activities, along with propounding his incisive views as an anthropologist. He is a professor at the Kyoto University of Art and Design, where he teaches anthropology, international relations, information society theory, etc. Prof. Takemura is engaged in the development of social information platforms, or what he calls socialware, with the Earth Literacy Program, an NPO that runs as a base for his activities. In 2001, he conceived the Tangible Earth, in collaboration with scientists from various fields. For the first time in the U.S., participants will be able to see and experience the Tangible Earth at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.

Title:
行き止まりのない世界地図 ーAuthaGraphという世界の見方ー
/An endless world map: Viewing the world through Authagraph
About Talks:
Mr. Narukawa is the inventor of Authagraph, a world map designed to fit the world into a rectangle while almost perfectly maintaining the continents' relative size.
It is mathematically impossible to precisely project the earth's sphere onto a rectangle.
As such, previous methods would succeed in either taking on a rectangular shape or being true to the size ratio and shape of each continent, but never in both.
Authagraph is groundbreaking in that it takes on both of those qualities, making it applicable to various themes such as sea routes, geology, meteorology and world history in ways never thought possible.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 26 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Benoit Mandelbrot, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Two major TED events are held each year: The TED Conference takes place every spring in Long Beach, California (along with a parallel conference, TEDActive, in Palm Springs), and TEDGlobal is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
TED's media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily; the new TED Conversations, enabling broad conversations among TED fans; and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.
TED has established the annual TED Prize, where exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

My JENESYS Experience
I spent way too long working on this video, and it's been a long time coming, but it's finally done! A short audio blog of my #JENESYS journey from back in March, covering the entire trip from #Tokyo to #KujiCity and back. Most of the video is actually composed of still images, so feel free to listen to it in the background in podcast form. The audio is pretty bad as I recorded most of it on my phone, but hopefully it's at least somewhat comprehensible. I'll try adding subtitles eventually. Any feedback is appreciated. :)
Thanks in no small part to Nitin, Meenakshi, Nithya, Pampa, Prasenjit, Priyanka, Varsha and Vivek for the images, and to everyone else for making the trip a memorable experience. Thanks also to Sayantan for a whirlwind tour of the most exciting parts of Tokyo!
A huge thank you to the great people at Sakuraa Nihongo Resource Centre who selected me for the trip and also to Embassy of Japan in India, The Japan Foundation, New Delhi and JICE for organizing the program every year.
Also, a huge thank you to the ふるさと体験学習協会 and the host families (especially our own アニキ family, Akira Yachi, 谷地幸恵 and お母さん) for their hospitality. 大変お世話になりました。ありがとうございました!

The Day After Tomorrow
When global warming triggers the onset of a new Ice Age, tornadoes flatten Los Angeles, a tidal wave engulfs New York City and the entire Northern Hemisphere begins to freeze solid. As full-scale, massive evacuations to the south begin, a world-renowned climatologist (Quaid) who predicted the storm just a few days prior, must now risk his life to rescue his teenage son (Gyllenhaal) who is stranded in frozen, desolate Manhattan.
Tokyo Travel Guide - Japanese Adventure
Tokyo Travel Guide - Japanese Adventure
Tokyo is Japan capital and the core of the most populated urban area in the world, Tokyo Metropolis (which has a population of over 37 million people). This huge, wealthy and fascinating metropolis brings high-tech visions of the future side by side with glimpses of old Japan, and has something for everyone.
Huge and varied in its geography, Tokyo Metropolis, spans not just the city, but rugged mountains to the west and subtropical islands to the south. Here are Districts of Tokyo:
Central Tokyo which includes:
Chiyoda (Akihabara)
Chuo (Ginza)
Meguro (Jiyugaoka)
Minato (Akasaka, Shinbashi, Roppongi, Odaiba, Shiodome)
Shibuya (Harajuku, Ebisu)
Shinagawa (Gotanda)
Shinjuku
Toshima (Ikebukuro)
Old Tokyo (Shitamachi) which includes:
Arakawa
Bunkyo
Koto
Sumida (Ryogoku)
Taito (Asakusa, Ueno)
Tokyo suburbs which include:
East Tokyo that includes:
Many suburban wards, including Adachi, where one can visit one of Kanto's Three Great Temples: Nishi-arai Daishi, Katsushika, known for the charming Showa-era atmosphere of Shibamata and Edogawa, a quiet eastern suburb.
North Tokyo:
Includes the suburban wards of Kita, Itabashi and the quieter northern Nerima
Nakano
Ota
Setagaya
Suginami
Over 500 years old, the city of Tokyo grew from the modest fishing village of Edo (江戸). The city only truly began to grow when it became the seat of the Tokugawa shogunate in 1603. While the emperor ruled in name from Kyoto, the true power was concentrated in the hands of the Tokugawa shogun in Edo. After the Meiji restoration in 1868, during which the Tokugawa family lost its influence, the emperor and the imperial family moved here from Kyoto, and the city was re-named to its current name, Tokyo. The metropolitan center of the country, Tokyo is the destination for business, education, modern culture, and government.
Tokyo is classified as lying in the humid subtropical climate zone and has four distinct seasons. Summers are usually hot and humid with a temperature range of about 20-30°C (68-86°F), though it can sometimes climb into the high thirties. Winters are usually mild, with temperatures generally ranging from 0-10°C (32-50°F), though occasional cold spells can send temperatures plummeting below zero at night. Snow is rare, but on those rare occasions (once every few years) when Tokyo is hit by a snowstorm, much of the train network grinds to a halt. The famous cherry blossoms bloom in March-April and parks, most famously Ueno, fill up with blue tarps and sozzled salarymen.
Tokyo has a vast array of sights, but the first items on the agenda of most visitors are the temples of Asakusa, the gardens of the Imperial Palace (in Chiyoda) and the Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, in Harajuku). Tokyo has many commercial centres for shopping, eating and simply wandering around for experiencing the modern Japanese urban phenomenon. Each of these areas have unique characteristics, such as dazzling Shinjuku, youthful Shibuya and upmarket Ginza. These areas are bustling throughout the day, but they really come into life in the evenings. A lot to see in Tokyo such as:
