A beautiful Summers day at World's End ~ Trustees of the Reservation
July 6, 2012 we went to Worlds End in Hingham Massachusetts, It is owned and operated by The Trustees of Reservation. This was our second time here. We explored a new trail that lead through the Woodlands over looking the Weir River. We then walked over to the Bar which separated The Weir River and the Hingham Harbor. You can get a good view of the Boston Skyline. This is such a wonderful place to take a nature walk. We had a picnic lunch over looking the Tidal Marsh.

From Rt. 3, take Exit 14, Rt. 228 North for 6.5 mi. Turn left onto Rt. 3A and follow for 0.7 mi. Turn right onto Summer St. and, at major intersection with Rockland St., continue straight across onto Martin's Lane. Follow for 0.7 mi. to entrance and parking (70 cars) at end. Roadside parking is not permitted.

Driver's Perspective - Summer Street in Hingham, MA
For the folks in Hingham who are steadfast in their desire to put a light in at the rotary, this driving perspective, at the posted speed limit, gives a true look at how the road is navigable and safe. The only thing necessary - in my opinion - is more vigilant enforcement of the posted laws in Hingham. When people drive and obey the laws, there's very little danger on the rotary, Summer Street and the surrounding byways. This issue may make it to Town Meeting and a Warrant question in 2015. Please educate yourself.
The TimberRose Belties
The TimberRose black and white belted cows are Belted Galloways, a breed of Scottish cattle that was introduced to the United States in the 1950s. Belted Galloways, also known as Belties, are currently listed with the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy as a watched breed, which means there are fewer than 2,500 annual registrations in the United States and a global population of less than 10,000. The unique appearance of Belted Galloway cattle inspires many questions about their origins. With black, red or dun color sandwiched about a white middle, they are familiarly known as 'Belties' among breeders of the animals.
The most visible characteristics of the Belted Galloway are its long hair coat and the broad white belt that completely encircles the body. Its coarse outer coat helps shed the rain, and its soft undercoat provides insulation and waterproofing, enabling the breed to happily overwinter outside.
Belties are generally of a quiet temperament, but still maintain a strong maternal instinct and will protect a calf against perceived threats. These cows are great parents that form a strong nurturing bond with their calves. The calves are small at birth, weighing around 50-70 pounds. We've had 5 born into the TimberRose herd this year!
The Belted Galloway Breed produce a high quality beef product on grass alone. The USDA Cycle IV Germ Plasm Evaluation Program at the Meat Animal Research Center (MARC) showed that Galloway crosses placed at the top of the chart for flavor, juiciness and tenderness when compared to eleven other breeds, and is often considered the ORIGINAL GOURMET BEEF.
