The London International Wine and Spirits Fair.wmv
THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL WINE AND SPIRITS FAIR
Around 15,000 visitors from the UK and around the world use the Fair as a buying platform, to see what new wines are available and to research industry trends. It's perfect for: Importers; Wine merchants; Sommeliers; Off licence managers; Wholesalers; Restaurateurs; Producers; Pub / bar managers; Caterers.
LIWF and Distil Post Show Figures: The London International Wine Fair and Distil closed on 2011 with both exhibitors and visitors reporting a very successful and positive event. The seamless organisation of the three-day show by Brintex was praised yet again, as was the quality of the visitors attending the event.
There was a packed and varied timetable of interesting briefings, seminars, tastings and masterclasses, covering a wide range of industry topics; and the LIWF features, new and existing, proved to be as popular as ever.
The final visitor attendance figure stood at 13,754, a slight increase on the 2010 total of 13,684.
James Murray, Event Director commented: The feedback we have received so far about this year's show has been overwhelmingly positive. Despite tough economic trading conditions, UK agents were out in force alongside pavilions from all the major wine producing nations, as well as exciting emerging markets. Lebanon, India and Russia reported positive business leads and gave a feeling of optimism for the coming months. Whilst we're pleased that we have seen a slight increase in the visitor numbers this year, it is the quality of those visiting that is key to our exhibitors, and many have reported their most successful show for many years.
Matthew Dickinson, Commercial Director, Thierry's: Thierry's had a truly exciting trade fair this year in sponsoring the Access Zone. This allowed us to work on some really innovative communication projects with Vrazon and Brintex and we were delighted with both the number and quality of visitors, both real and virtual!
Giles Cooke MW, Marketing Director, Alliance Wine: As ever, there were very high quality attendees over the course of the three days. We have had plenty of very constructive meetings with lots of results in the bag.
Jeremy Rockett, Marketing Director, Gonzalez Byass: We have had some very high quality journalists, customers and other visitors. Every year opportunities come out of the Fair that we could never predict.
Su Birch, CEO, Wines of South Africa: Our new format has proved very successful and we have had a steady stream of people tasting, including media and buyers. Brintex did a great job as ever.

They're a really young down to earth kind of couple, so they wouldn't just stick to the old world, you know French or Italian. So I then was thinking well, Prince Harry loves Africa, he's even taken Meghan to Africa and he also has a charity he loves in Lesotho in South Africa and South Africa is making fantastic wines and their white wines in particular are so exciting. I've actually chosen this wine here, it's called Serwer and it's from the Swartland which is probably the most cutting edge cool funky wine producing region in South Africa and they are a pretty cool couple.

Apparently Meghan is a huge fan, she's got expensive taste, but good taste of the super Tuscan Tiganello which is probably around £270 (GB) a bottle, £300 (GB) depends where you're getting it from.
17. Close pan of bottle of Tiganello to Pandolfa
18. UPSOUND: (English) Amelia Singer, wine expert (camera pans between Singer and wine)
Meghan is meant to be a wine lover and she talks about her love of wines, I think she probably would have, at least with the reds, I think she will definitely have input, I can absolutely see Prince Harry and his friends enjoying this very convivial wine which is then reflected in the rather fun and colourful label.
19. Close tilt down of Pandolfa label
20. SOUNDBITE: (English) Amelia Singer, wine expert
It's also £14 GB a bottle so I think this is much more in keeping with their ethos and being savvy with what they do decide to spend their time and money on.
21. Various of Singer pouring red wine

23. SOUNDBITE: (English) Amelia Singer, wine expert
Well it's amazing actually how influential how royal taste has been for the nation as a whole, as early as 1152 when Henry of Plantagenet married Eleanor of Aquitaine, England basically owned Gascony and south west of France, we actually owned Bordeaux and therefore were able to set up amazing trade with them and by far the cheapest wine to get hold of was from Bordeaux.
24. Pan from mid rear shot of sommelier removing a bottle from a temperature controlled wine store and walking away to mid of more wine stores and bottles
25. SOUNDBITE: (English) Amelia Singer, wine expert
In the 1300s they would say about 300-million bottles of today's modern wine bottle was reaching British shores and I must admit Bordeaux wine was very different back then. It would have been more like a really, really, bad mulled wine because back then Bordeaux was marshland. They had to wait until the Dutch came to drain it all out to make any wines of real quality which is what we think of when we talk about claret, or Bordeaux wines now.

Protest against dictator unelected fascist and racist president Janine Añez in London
Free West Papua TV:
We condemn coup d’état against Bolivian President Evo Morales.
We condemns the coup d’etat against Bolivian President Evo Morales and the MAS government, and demands that the attacks on Morales and other MAS leaders, by right-wing gangs must stop. These include an attack on Evo Morales’ home, the fire-bombing of the homes of other MAS Ministers, and holding their relatives hostage in order to force their resignations. This is terror.
We also demand an end to targeted attacks on the innocent civilians of Bolivia which has consistently supported the MAS government and its progressive policies.
We demands that the safety of President Morales and other MAS leaders is protected by Bolivian authorities, and that the international community must add their voices to this demand.
President Morales’ decision to hold new elections was aimed to prevent bloodshed by the coup plotters, who have declared the October 20 re-election of Evo Morales ‘fraudulent’ after 13 years of their unsuccessful opposition to Morales’ popular government and policies benefiting the poor, the Indigenous Peoples, the working class and small farmers. Morales led the first Indigenous led government in the Americas since colonisation.
The opposition did not accept new elections and the military then told Morales he had to resign. This is a coup backed by the military, the violent anti-democratic and racist opposition, the corporations and the wealthy, actively aided and abetted by the United States, Canada, and European Union.
The coup against President Morales and the MAS government is a virtual carbon copy of the attempted coup against the Maduro government in Venezuela last January.
Given British’s support for the pretender Guaido and the coup plotters in Venezuela, we demand the British government end – and make public- any British involvement in the coup d’etat in Bolivia, and that the government and Parliament unconditionally condemn the coup against President Morales and the MAS government.
The blood covered fingerprints of US imperialism, the Organisation of American States, and the Lima Group are all over these attempts to roll back and defeat progressive governments in Latin America. How many more coups will there be against progressive governments elected in Latin America?
