This is a video I narrated about the West of the Pecos Museum in West Texas. I took the photos. It is an old hotel and saloon from the late 1800s/early 1900s that now houses artifacts from Pecos' past, including the Old West and around the turn of the 20th Century. Pecos Texas Road Tour . This video starts out in Midland Texas leaving town on west Interstate 20 towards Pecos Texas.
Pecos is the largest city in and the county seat of Reeves County, Texas, United States. It is situated in the river valley on the west bank of the Pecos River at the eastern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert and the Trans-Pecos region of west Texas and near the southern border of New Mexico.
Pecos is one of the numerous towns in West Texas organized around a train depot during the construction of the Texas and Pacific Railway. These towns were subsequently linked by the construction of U.S. Highway 80 and Interstate 20. Prior to the arrival of the railroad, a permanent camp existed nearby where cattle drives crossed the Pecos River.

Facing our Fears! The Pecos River Bridge Near Langtry, Texas
Since we almost perished on a bridge in South Dakota due to tornado high winds. Any time we cross bridges over water or canyons gives me an unnerving feeling. I knew going out there would be two bridges that would make me feel sick to my stomach. One near Governors Landing and this one. The one near Governors Landing, the wind already pushed my vehicle earlier that day. After making it across safely, we had this last bridge to cross on our trip.
I added Summer Breeze by Seals And Crofts since it was windy this day in the summer.

Fast-food Boom in Pecos
Competition is sizzling in the City of Pecos. Many owners say burger sales are booming along with the oil and gas business.
The Pecos Dairy Queen received an award for being the Dairy Queen who sold the most burgers in the entire state, beating Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Elsa Palomino, the proud manager of The Pecos Dairy Queen says it's a trickle down effect. Her main customers are oilfield workers. Some companies order up to 50 double-meat-double-cheese burgers at a time.
Time is money, Elsa said, We have the grill filled with meat patties and everyone has their station so that we can get the burgers out quickly.
Bill Olgesby with the Economic Development Center says Dairy Queen's success is catching the attention of other businesses. He says more than five fast food restaurants have opened in the past year and Bush's chicken had the best opening day in franchise history.
You're seeing all these burgers being sold and the sales tax goes back to the city, Olgesby said.
Elsa says Dairy Queen spent millions of dollars remodeling just to please the new customers.
They decided to invest in Pecos and build a new Dairy Queen, she said.
But she says the new look is just the cherry on top.
*The Pecos DQ owned by Perry and Shiela Anderson won the 2012 BIG BUSTER Award at the Annual Texas Dairy Queen Convention in San Antonio, TX during January for selling the most Hungr-Busters in the State.
Records show employees made over 113, 600 burgers in different variations in just one year.
With an average cook time of 5 minutes that's over 9,400 hours of just cooking burgers alone.

My thesis interprets Archaic hunter-gatherer behavior based on pictographs found in thirty rock shelter sites in the lower Pecos region of Texas. I approach this study with traditional archaeological methods, rock art methods, and landscape theory to investigate how the Archaic hunter-gatherers of the lower Pecos used the landscape. I evaluate multiple hypotheses with empirically gathered rock art site data and their natural geomorphological contexts. I use both quantitative and spatial analysis. I examine the experience of moving through the landscape and how the movement through the landscape relates to the function of the rock art sites.
