This video was shot during my construction site assignment stay in Baytown Texas in January 1998 and include my weekend visits to Galveston, Space Center, Houston and Buffalo Bayou Battleship TEXAS Memorial site.
In 1948, the Battleship Texas became the first battleship memorial museum in the U.S. That same year, on the anniversary of Texas Independence, the Texas was presented to the State of Texas and commissioned as the flagship of the Texas Navy. In 1983, the Texas was placed under the stewardship of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and is permanently anchored on the Buffalo Bayou and the busy Houston Ship Channel.
The Battleship TEXAS is the last dreadnought in existence in the world, a veteran of Vera Cruz (1914) and both World Wars, and is credited with the introduction and innovation of advances in gunnery, aviation and radar. Having been designed in the first decade of the 20th century, (keel laid in 1911 and completed in 1914), and having seen action in some of the most intense and critical campaigns of WWII, she is an important piece of US naval and maritime history.

KU Lawrence Day Trip
We took a quick little day trip to Lawrence Kansas this weekend. We had never really explored this college town so we wanted to check it out.
For brunch we enjoyed a delicious meal at a great little find called Miltons. Perfect
We should have done a little pre digging because it was game day and the town was packed with Jayhawk fans. They played Rice and won the game. Good for them, but that meant no parking for us and we had planned on visiting the Natural History Museum that day, but there was no parking to be had :(
We ended up changing plans and finding Prairie Park Nature Center and some ice cream at a Lawrence favorite Sylas Maddy's Homemade ice cream. It was a fun day.
When we made it back to our car we had a ticket waiting for us :( We've since worked it out so no $55 for us.
If you're ever around Lawrence, you should stop by and check it out...but not on game day :)

The program aired in Dallas, Houston and Austin during the month of February, 2008.
