NM True TV - Trinity Site
Only twice a year the military opens access to the public to see the Trinity Site, on a remote stretch of the White Sands Missile Range. This unassuming spot in the wide open spaces of central New Mexico truly changed the world, as the location of the first-ever atomic blast. The New Mexico True TV Crew shares the experience, as they visit the remaining landmarks and get a very personal vision of the power unleashed by “the device.” #NewMexicoTrue
Texas and New Mexico Road Trip (including Trinity Test Site)
This video covers the trip I had with my dad where we visited national parks in Texas and New Mexico. We visited Big Bend National Park, Monahan Sandhills State Park (in Texas), Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. We also visited a significantly important historical site that is only open to the public twice a year--the Trinity Test Site, where the first atomic bomb was ever successfully detonated in New Mexico a few weeks prior to the end of World War 2. We concluded the trip with a visit to White Sands National Monument.

Trinity Site New Mexico is Where the First Nuclear Bomb Was Detonated
Trinity Site New Mexico is the location where the the first nuclear bomb was detonated!
On July 16, 1945, the United States Army successfully detonated the world’s first nuclear weapon, and they called the test “Trinity.” The detonation was conducted in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 56 km southeast of Socorro, New Mexico. Weeks later, on August 9, 1945, Fat Man (a bomb of the same design as the one detonated) was dropped over Nagasaki, Japan.

Jornada del Muerto
The Jornada del Muerto is close to the Trinity Site. Spanish colonists called the road the “Journey of the Dead Man” because of the threat of death by starvation, thirst, or attack by the Apache tribes in the area. Jim Eckles, who worked at the White Sands Missile Range for over 30 years, provides a brief overview of the history of the area.
NM True TV - National Museum of Nuclear Science & History
It is easily arguable that no one state has played a greater role in ushering the world into the Atomic Age than New Mexico. So it is only natural that the one national museum dedicated to that science and history calls New Mexico home. Michael and the New Mexico True TV Crew pay a visit to this unique collection of artifacts and the exhibits that explain the role of nuclear science in our world. It isn’t just about bombs and war, the museum is dedicated to all aspects of the most influential scientific developments in the past century. This includes medicine, technology, even art. #NewMexicoTrue
Jim Eckles' Interview
Jim Eckles has worked for decades for the White Sands Missile Range Public Affairs Office, managing open houses and tours of the Trinity site, where the world’s first nuclear test took place. In this interview, Eckles describes the history of Trinity site. He discusses the ranchers who lived on it before the Manhattan Project took over, the buildings used by the scientists, and what it was like to live on the site before and during the war. He provides an overview of the Trinity Test and the “Gadget,” 100 ton TNT test, and the making of “Jumbo.” Eckles also discusses some of the key workers at Trinity site, including scientists, technicians, photographers, and MPs. He also explains some of the controversy around the site, including radiation levels, concerns over fallout from the test, and the atomic bombings of Japan.

White Sands, Texas Steak, and the Walmart Incident
After leaving Albuquerque, I decided to head south and visit White Sands National Monument. Then I enjoy a fabulous piece of meat at Cattleman's Ranch Steakhouse. After an unpleasant incident at Walmart I decide to continue pushing east towards San Antonio.

This is an audio version of the Wikipedia Article:
Trinity (nuclear test)
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear weapon. It was conducted by the United States Army at 5:29 a.m. on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project. The test was conducted in the Jornada del Muerto desert about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Socorro, New Mexico, on what was then the USAAF Alamogordo Bombing and Gunnery Range, now part of White Sands Missile Range. The only structures originally in the vicinity were the McDonald Ranch House and its ancillary buildings, which scientists used as a laboratory for testing bomb components. A base camp was constructed, and there were 425 people present on the weekend of the test.
The code name Trinity was assigned by J. Robert Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, inspired by the poetry of John Donne. The test was of an implosion-design plutonium device, informally nicknamed The Gadget, of the same design as the Fat Man bomb later detonated over Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945. The complexity of the design required a major effort from the Los Alamos Laboratory, and concerns about whether it would work led to a decision to conduct the first nuclear test. The test was planned and directed by Kenneth Bainbridge.
Fears of a fizzle led to the construction of a steel containment vessel called Jumbo that could contain the plutonium, allowing it to be recovered, but Jumbo was not used.
A rehearsal was held on May 7, 1945, in which 108 short tons (96 long tons; 98 t) of high explosive spiked with radioactive isotopes were detonated.
The Gadget's detonation released the explosive energy of about 22 kilotons of TNT (92 TJ). Observers included Vannevar Bush, James Chadwick, James Conant, Thomas Farrell, Enrico Fermi, Richard Feynman, Leslie Groves, Robert Oppenheimer, Geoffrey Taylor, and Richard Tolman.
The test site was declared a National Historic Landmark district in 1965, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places the following year.

Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling Bravo! in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
