These are artificial rapids in the White Water River at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain close to Lijiang, China. People could pose on yaks here on top of the men made rapids. The yaks themselves didn't seem to like it that much though.

The colour of the river can be blue or white in colour depends on the weather a day before. If there is raining on the previous day, the white mud and the limestone rubble at the riverbed will make the water white in colour.
There are multi tiers waterfalls in a few sections of this river. We stopped at the few popular spots for photography.
There are ‘yak rentals’ for riding here. You have to pay for the yak ride to walk across the river and back. You can also find many couples taking their pre wedding photographs here.
The blue moon valley is considered as the Jiuzhaigou valley of Yunnan. There is also section of bigger waterfall at the end of the river.

White Water Terraces

Blue Moon Valley (麗江藍月谷), Lijiang, Yunnan
Blue Moon Valley actually is an extremely blue river meandering through a lush valley of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Seen from a distance, it resembles a blue crescent moon inlaid at the foot of the mountain. That's how the place got its beautiful name! However, blue is not the only colour of the river. If it rains, the white mud and limestone rubble at the riverbed will be swirled up, making the water as white as milk. Therefore, local Naxi people name it White Water River (Baishui River).
The White Water River is fed by melting snow and ice running down from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The water is freezing; even in summer, and people still cannot bear the piercing cold when they dabble in the river. But it is a favorite iced drink in summer. Legend has it that, when two Naxi youngsters fall in love, the boy will be tested by standing barefoot in the cold river in winter to show his committed love for the girl. Folks believe that this tested love will last forever in the presence of the holy snow mountain. So, the river is considered the Love River in local people's mind.

Lanyue Valley In Lijiang of China
This is a very famous scenery in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain scenic area of Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, China. It is called Lanyue Valley.
Lanyue Valley, formerly known as the White River, is also known as the Baishui River. On sunny days, the color of the water is blue, and the valley is crescent-shaped, and looks like a round of blue at a distance. The colored moon is inlaid at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, so it is called Blue Moon Valley. The name Baishuihe is because the mud at the bottom of the lake is white. When it rains, the water will turn white, so it is called Baishuihe.
The snow of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain melts into the river from a valley in the snowy mountains, because the moon reflects in the blue lake against the blue sky, and the blue moon in the disappearing horizon by the British writer. The valley is similar to this. The name is Blue Moon Valley. The river water in the Lanyue Valley was blocked by the mountain during the rogue process, forming four large water surfaces. It is called “Yuye” Lake, “Jingtan Lake”, “Blue Moon” Lake and “Tingtao” Lake. The lakeshore has four weeks of vegetation and is surrounded by snow peaks.
