UNRESTORED GREAT WALL HIKE | Gubeikou Wild Wall China Vlog
CHINA TRAVEL GUIDE:
BEST VPN FOR CHINA:
This was an unforgettable day! It was my first time seeing the Great Wall of China and I got to start with an unrestored section, which I've been dying to see! The ridiculously fun people we spent the day with made the whole experience even better. This section of wall is called Gubeikou, more specifically Panlongshan, and we took a private van to get there for a total of 1000 RMB (which we then split between 6 people). I highly recommend this hike if you're up for some exercise and incredible views!

Beijing Vlog #18 The Real Great Wall of China
Hello guys and welcome back to a new vlog ! Today i'm with Elise on top of a un-restored section of the great wall of China one of the world wonders near Zhuangdaokou. We spent a few hours walking to Shui Changcheng under a blazing 36° and clear blue sky. Later when we visited the restaured section we keept laugthing at how unrealistic it looked... So i definitly recommend going on the wild wall if you are brave enough.
Hope you enjoyed and see you in the next vlog. Korea i'm ready !!

The first section was built during the Northern Qi Dynasty and the second section was built during the early Ming Dynasty. Gubei Water Town Review - Resort Day Tour China Beijing
The Gubei Water Town (Shui Zhen) resort rests under the Simatai Great Wall. It is a replication of Wuzhen water town situated in Southern China. Gubei water town is a a beautiful re-creation of the old style villages that are departed from the hustle and bustle of the central Beijing area.
This video review the architecture of the town is in a traditional Chinese style and preserves the ancient culture of China.
Gubei Water Town is located in Gubeikou Town of Miyun County in Beijing, Gubei Water Town environs the beautiful Mandarin Duck Lake Reservoir and leans against the Simatai Great Wall, the most risky and majestic section of the entire Great Wall. Regarded as 'Wuzhen in Beijing', Gubei Water Town features a combination of mountains, water and ancient villages. The town is characterized by the northern architectural style, and the history and culture of the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and the Republic of China (1912-1949) historic period.
The Gubei Water Town holiday resort has an area of 9 square km and the scenic area of the water town resort fills an area of 0.43 million square meters which composed of Ming, Qing and Republic era style courtyards, two 5 star hotels, 6 boutique hotels, 400 B&B, restaurants and shops, as well as over 10 cultural exhibition areas with good facilities.
At night, you have a clear view of the Simatai Great Wall lit up. The entire town lights up at night and the view from above is absolutely breathtaking. Walking around the village feels a bit of being backed in the Chinese ancient time.
It is recommended to stay for one night in the village, to get the unique experience of the local common people at the foot of the Great Wall and also try the local authentic food and snacks. Take advantage of the hot springs, feel free to dip your feet in the small hot spring pond past the fountain. There will be other tourists and locals enjoying themselves and relaxing around the hot springs area.

The Great Wall of China | Black Buddha (Beijing)
Even ancient wonders have a wild side.
When you are standing on The Great Wall of China, wonderment is a complete understatement. Spanning over 13,000 miles, this ancient fortification winds across the land with complete disregard for natural obstacles and the dramatic landscape. Mountains, valleys, cherry blossoms, cliffs, clouds of mist and even snow all serve as natural accents to this once northern barrier of Mongols.
A very visible historic and cultural marker, it is a perennial top global tourist destination. The part of the Wall that most people see has actually been refurbished and renovated to support commercial tourism (read: cable cars, tee shirts and group tour flags). However, for the more adventurous travelers, parts known as the “Wild Wall” still exist. Getting there requires the road less traveled and an appreciation for sections of the original wall now deteriorated into complete mounds of rubble from weather exposure and looters throughout the ages.
Fair disclaimer when venturing off the beaten path: enter at your own risk and carry cash for local “entrance” fees. The “wild” and variable nature of the wall is no joke and not for the faint of heart.

Great Wall of China from Jinshanling to Simatai Tour
Jinshanling / 金山岭 / 金山嶺 is a section of the Great Wall of China located in the mountainous area in Luanping County, Hebei Province, 125 km northeast of Beijing. This section of the wall is connected with the Simatai section to the east. Some distance to the west lies the Mutianyu section. Jinshanling section of the wall was built from 1570 CE during the Ming Dynasty.
The Jinshanling section of the Great Wall is 10.5 km long with 5 passes, 67 towers and 3 beacon towers. The initial section of the wall has been restored to original condition, but the condition of the wall deteriorates towards its natural state as it approaches Simatai. The entrance fee is 65 RMB. A cable car (40 RMB) has been constructed to take visitors to the highest point along the wall. There is an additional admission charge of 50 RMB to continue on to the Simatai section, and a 5 RMB fee to cross the suspension bridge.
Simatai / 司马台 / 司馬臺 is a section of the Great Wall of China located in the north of Miyun County, 120 km northeast of Beijing, holds the access to Gubeikou, a strategic pass in the eastern part of the Great Wall. It was closed in June 2010 but has been reopened to tourists in 2014.
Originally built during the Northern Qi dynasty (550–577) and rebuilt in the Hongwu years of the Ming dynasty.
Simatai Great Wall is 5.4 km long with 35 beacon towers. This section of the Great Wall incorporated the different characteristics of each section of the Great Wall. A specialist on the Great Wall, Professor Luo Zhewen, has said The Great Wall is the best of the Chinese buildings, and Simatai is the best of the Great Wall. UNESCO has designated Simatai Great Wall as one of the World Cultural Heritage Sites as part of the Great Wall World Heritage Site.
Simatai Great Wall is separated by a valley into eastern and western parts. The western part appears gentle with 20 well-preserved watchtowers dotting along the wall. The eastern part is much steeper, following more rugged terrain that includes cliff edges and kilometre-high peaks.
Hanging precariously onto the Yanshan Mountain, Simatai Great Wall is known for its steepness. Open Air Gondolas provide a way to ascend partway up the wall. The 17 watchtowers are relatively closely spaced and provide spectacular views.
