The Culture Guide for the Costa Brava, Spain
The region of Costa Brava is teeming with unique cultural attractions.
Starting with the incredible ancient history and ruins of the region, stretching into medieval times with pristine examples of Romanesque art and fantastic architecture still intact.
The cultural experiences available range from museums and art galleries, to pottery and handicraft workshops, to sea side restaurants and delicious Costa Brava marisc (seafood). From the Salvador Dalí house & museum to local wine & produce delivered directly to your table, the cultural side of Costa Brava awaits.
We stayed at the Sant Pol Campground in the city of Sant Feliu de Guixols, which city center is in walking distance.
The Costa Brava region got quite a bit to offer cultural, starting with Girona. There is a good reason why quite a lot of the Game of Thrones episodes got filmed in Girona & the surrounding region.
You should wander alround the city and also visit the German Gardens.
You should also visit medieval villages like Peratallada. There are also a couple of nice cafes and restaurants, hidden in the little alleys. Tip, rent a bicycle and visit 2-3 of the old villages by bike tour.
The region is also known for its handmade pottery. A good town to see & buy pottery is Bisbal d' Emorda.
And no trip to the Costa Brava is complete without finding out more about Dali. Right next to the beautiful seaside town of Cadaques, you'll find Portlligat, where you will find Dali's house. It's a museum now.
Part 9: Spain, Autobahn E 90. Navalcarnero - Madrid - Barcelona - Lloret de Mar/

Spain’s Three Unmissable Experiences
Viva España! Think you have explored Spain already? Check out these epic experiences to get to know the country’s traditions even better.
Tradition tells us to favor wine, drunk from a porrón, a glass bottle which resembles a small watering can. A porró is a traditional Catalonian wine pitcher – and it’s a great way to share a bottle. You can pass the bottle around without it touching anyone’s lips – but it takes a bit of skill to get it in your mouth! You’ll be sure to encounter the tradition when visiting some of the best destinations around the country:
Celebrated each year in the small town of Castrillo de Murcia, the Salto del Colacho is a week-long celebration which culminates with a man dressed as a devil terrorising locals and jumping over babies. Controversial as far as the Catholic Church is concerned, the celebration is believed to cleanse the new-borns of their original sin. Read more about this festival here
One of the world’s most unusual food fights takes place every December in a small Spanish town near Alicante. It starts when one group of locals takes over the town and enforces bizarre laws – anyone caught breaking them pays a fine which is donated to charity. Beautiful spacious Spanish holiday villa with private pool and a fantastic view over Lloret de Mar
Your holiday villa near Lloret de Mar
The wind blows softly through the curtains. You are awakened by a refreshing morning breeze; you throw the blankets off yourself and stroll through the bedroom, open the balcony door and enjoy the overwhelming view over the green surroundings and the Mediterranean Sea. The private swimming pool is still calm now, but it won't be for much longer. You find yourself truly in a palace. The room you have here is impressive and everything is so well maintained. It is so nice that everyone can be housed in a single villa, it makes it all the better. It's time to prepare breakfast and wake everyone up, time for a beautiful day in Spain! The fully detached Villa Alessa appears to be a castle under the Spanish sun. The villa is near Lloret de Mar and about 3 km from the beach. The appearance of Alessa is unreal, as though you're spending your holiday in an actual castle. There is so much room around the villa that everyone will be comfortable here even with multiple families. The private swimming pool is in a fantastic location and has a gorgeous view. Around the swimming pool there is enough room to relax on one of the lounge chairs with a good book. Next to the terrace surrounding the swimming pool is a seating area with benches in a Gaudi style, allowing you to absorb the beautiful view. The separate terrace with a fixed stone barbecue allows you to spend the evenings with the pleasure of a good piece of grilled meat and delicious Spanish wines. The inside of Villa Alessa is just as stunning as the outside. The villa is modern and beautifully decorated with various colours, but still gives a cosy impression. The spacious living room is the perfect meeting place for the entire company. The fully equipped kitchen is provided with all comforts so that your own insides can also be coddled. With no less than 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, Alessa offers room for 16 persons. Perfect for a holiday with multiple families or a very large family. Have you always wanted to feel like the King or Queen? Then book holiday 'castle' Alessa and feel like royalty during a holiday you will never forget!

Places to see in ( Alquezar - Spain )
Places to see in ( Alquezar - Spain )
Alquézar is a municipality in the province of Huesca, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. Alquezar is situated on a limestone outcrop of Eocene age to the west of the canyon of the Rio Vero in the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, the village of Alquezar grew up around a castle and the Collegiate church of Santa Maria, which was consecrated in 1099.
The castle of Alquezar became the main defense point of the nearby city of Barbastro. Since Alquézar is situated in the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, there are various campsites in the local area to cater outdoor pursuit enthusiasts. Popular activities include canyoning, walking, rock climbing and abseiling, as well as ornithology (since eagles nest on the steep faces of the Rio Vero canyon).
The surrounding area of Alquezar to the south towards Barbastro, in the direction of the flatter Ebro basin, is part of the Somontano, an area known for its fine wines. There are more than 60 limestone caves with prehistoric cave paintings in the surrounding area, which has led to the region being declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998. A good example is the cave at Arpán on the A-2205 road heading north towards Bárcabo.
( Alquezar - Spain ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Alquezar . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Alquezar - Spain

Tour operator Thomas Cook says 'retro destinations' are making a comeback with holidaymakers. The travel giant is expecting a spike in demand for breaks in Costa Brava, Madeira and Malta, which all used to be popular for bucket and spade trips. It revealed a 40% plunge in UK earnings last week but UK managing director Chris Mottershead believes its 2018 performance will be boosted by holidays to places which had fallen out of fashion. He said: 'We've seen destinations move up and down the popularity stakes and next year we're predicting that Malta, Madeira and Costa Brava will catch the attention of holidaymakers who perhaps didn't think they ticked the right box for their needs.'From Michelin star restaurants in Costa Brava to music festivals in Malta and outstanding natural beauty in Madeira, these retro destinations really will challenge holidaymakers' misconceptions.'Thomas Cook is selling holidays to Spain's Costa Brava for the first time since 2009 as the destination has developed a reputation for food and wine. The region was a firm favourite with UK holidaymakers in the 1980s but its popularity dropped as accommodation became dated.Thomas Cook believes the high number of top class restaurants and Gaudi-inspired architecture will attract tourists to its new and refurbished hotels. The firm stopped selling holidays to Madeira in 2015 as it was seen by many as a place for mature travellers. But the Portuguese archipelago is returning to Thomas Cook brochures for 2018 after inventing itself as a hotspot for younger visitors enjoying lively nightlife, while thrill-seekers can take part in activities such as mountain climbing and tobogganing.Football fans are also going to Madeira as it is the birthplace of Cristiano Ronaldo and they can visit the Real Madrid star's museum or stay at his CR7 hotel.UK holidaymakers have been travelling to Malta for more than 40 years and it is becoming a destination for music lovers due to two annual festivals, I Love MTV and Annie Mac Presents. It has also been used as a filming location for Game Of Thrones, which is expected to attract fans of the popular show.Thomas Cook last week reported underlying earnings of £52 million for the UK division in the year to September 30, down from £86 million the previous year.It was knocked by rising hotel prices, the weak pound and intense competition in the Spanish market..

Barrio Gotico and Sardana, Barcelona, Catalonia - Spain 4K Travel Channel
Join us on a Sunday stroll through the Barri Gotic, the oldest distirct of Barcelona, and see the typical Sardana. Our walk begins at the Pla del Palau. It used to be the entrance to the city, for all the goods that came from the sea. The façades of the houses date from the 19th century. Originally warehouses, that were converted to the palace of the viceroy. Later it became the Palace of the Capitanes Generales de Catalunya.
Through narrow streets, which strongly characterize this quarter, we find ourselves in front of the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar. On the square in front of all the chairs are occupied so we go in the direction of Passeig del Born.
Here we can see a photographer at work with his models .
Later, we turn into the Placeta de Montcada and continue onto Carrer de Moncada.
Looking through an open door, we see a beautiful medieval courtyard. The whole turns out to be the Palau Dalmases, a location for opera and flamenco shows. At the moment the best flamenco show of Barcelona is presented here.
Directly opposite is the modern designed Picasso Museum. Art and culture lovers should therefore absolutely notice this address.
Afterwards we arrive at the Mercat de Santa Caterina. The market was set up on the foundation walls of a former cloister. The name of the place still reminds at it. The remains of the monastery can be seen in the basement. The Mercat de Santa Caterina is the oldest covered market of Barcelona. It was built between 1844 and 1848 and redesigned between 1997 and 2004.
The design of the roof by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, was inspired by the Trencadis of Gaudí (mosaic from ceramic shards in Catalan Modernisme).
In the time of our visit a local wine market takes place. We had the chance to test delicacies and the exquisite wines from the region.
We continue westward and reach the Barcelona Cathedral (The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia). A large crowd has gathered on the square Pla de la Seu in front of the Gothic Cathedral. As we get closer, we see that groups of people have formed to dance the Sardana, as every Sunday.

Girona, Jewish Quarter and Modern City, Catalonia - Spain 4K Travel Channel
The old Jewish Quarter or Call in Girona is one of the best preserved in Europe. It is characterized by narrow streets and steep steps. Until 1492, large Jewish communities were formed in Spanish cities. But due of the Alhambra Decree, they had to leave Spain. Although many Jews had supported the war against the Muslims financially strong. After expulsion of the Muslims, the desire for religious unification in the country was stronger, which ultimately led to the Alhambra Decree. Around 10% of the population had to leave the country. The environmental and social impact was significant. Only those who converted to the Christianity were allowed to stay, but were then under general suspicion of Inquisition. Many were burned at the stake. As late as 1992 the Alhambra Decree was irrevocably overridden.
We will visit the Jewish Museum that used to be a synagogue. The sign, embedded in to the street before the gate, stating that it is was not only a synagogue, but also a house where one could receive an overnight accommodation as well as help into difficult situations.
Inside the museum you can see objects of the Jewish community of Girona, at that time the community consists of 700 persons.
After a walk through the medieval streets, alleys and squares, lined by restaurants, bars and Taperias, we are invited to a meal in the restaurant Els Jardins de la Mercè. The excellent restaurant is located in a former Covent from the 17th century.
Not only the food but also the wine tasted delicious. We briefly stay at a dwell in the garden of the restaurant, where a small fountain with its moisture exudes cool air.
We do not know, what the artist who had built the colorful letters in front of the building of the Provincial Government of Catalunya was trying to tell us. Anyway, we quickly realized that they are not only meant for sitting, but it offers unusual photo and film perspectives and we have fun.
