Rocky Mountain Nation Park Snow Removal on Trail Ridge Road
Every year, Rocky Mountain National Park snowplow operators begin plowing Trail Ridge Road in mid April. Crews from the west side of the park and crews from the east side of the park move along the road and eventually meet near the Alpine Visitor Center. This happened yesterday! Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved highway in the United States reaching an elevation of 12,183 feet.
This year, snowplow operators have encountered less snow on the west side of the Continental Divide and average snow pack on the east side. Park plow operators have dealt with days of low to no visibility, wind, drifting snow and icy road conditions
Weather permitting, we are continuing to work toward opening the road on Friday, May 22, but we'll see what the next week brings. Sunshine makes a big difference in helping plow operators tackle the road!
Enjoy the following photos and video taken by park staff on this year's operations to open the road!

4K City Walks: Fort Collins, Colorado Walking Tour - Virtual Walk Treadmill Scenery City guide
The walking video 4K City Walks: Fort Collins, Colorado Walking Tour - Virtual Walk Treadmill Scenery City guide explores the downtown area of Fort Collins, CO. The town surprised me a bit. I’d stayed at a hotel out by the highway but didn’t remember coming into the town center. The old buildings and small town feel really charmed me. I walked around the pedestrian area, past bars, coffee shops, and restaurants, and made my way out to the New Belgium Brewery, famous for its pioneering of micro brews. I crossed the Cache de la Poudre River on a fine fall afternoon before heading back through downtown and into a residential area with lovely old homes. I’d hoped to have a chance to tour around the University but I’ll have to save that for next time. Let me know our personal connections to Ft Collins in the comments below.
This Fort Collins, CO walking tour video was filmed on a DJI Osmo Pocket.

Wikipedia:
Fort Collins is a municipality in northern Colorado, which serves as the seat of Larimer County. Situated on the Cache La Poudre River along the Colorado Front Range, Fort Collins is located 56 mi (90 km) north of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. With a 2018 estimated population of 167,830, it is the fourth most populous city in Colorado after Denver, Colorado Springs, and Aurora. Fort Collins is a midsize college city, home to Colorado State University and Front Range Community College's Larimer campus.
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O. Collins, suggesting that a site several miles farther down the river would make a good location for the fort. The post was manned originally by two companies of the 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and never had walls.
Settlers began arriving in the vicinity of the fort nearly immediately. The fort was decommissioned in 1867. The original fort site is now adjacent to the present historic Old Town portion of the city. The first school and church opened in 1866, and the town was platted in 1867. The civilian population of Fort Collins, led by local businessman Joseph Mason, led an effort to relocate the county seat to Fort Collins from LaPorte, and they were successful in 1868.
The city's first population boom came in 1872, with the establishment of an agricultural colony. Hundreds of settlers arrived, developing lots just south of the original Old Town. Tension between new settlers and earlier inhabitants led to political divisions in the new town, which was incorporated in 1873. Although the Colorado Agricultural College was founded in 1870, the first classes were held in 1879.

Seven Falls Colorado Springs in Winter
Seven Falls Colorado Springs in Winter
Seven Falls is just 10-15 minutes from Colorado Springs in south Cheyenne Road and is labelled as the grandest mile of scenery in Colorado. and the only waterfall in Colorado listed in the National Geographic list of International waterfalls.
The driveway to the falls is flanked on both sides by mature pine trees, and about 1 mile before reaching the base of the falls is the pillar of Hercules, 40 feet wide and 700 feet high.
Seven waterfalls, with the water from Pikes Peak, tumble down 180 feet of solid pink granite to the base of the falls, where a staircase to the top of the falls starts the climb of 224 steps.
This staircase leads from the top to Midnight Falls and Inspiration Point with magnificent views of Colorado Springs.A mountain elevator carries visitors to Eagles Nest platform for views of the falls. Thousands of lights cloaks the canyon in a blaze of color after dark.
Wildlife is everywhere here, giving plenty of opportunity to get some great photographs, and children can even feed rainbow trout at the visitor center, view educational exhibits with a self guided audio tour or visit the café or snack bar and 3 gift shops for souvenirs.

Christmas in New York - Top Things To Do
New York is magical during the Holidays! Here are my favorite things to do in the city at Christmas time...
1. Rockefeller Center
This is one of the most crowded areas in NYC at this time. Try to come early or late and avoid the crowd!
2. Sacks Fifth Avenue Light Show
Right across the street from the Rockefeller tree is Sacks Fifth Avenue. Their holiday light show gets better every year so don't miss it!
3. Holiday Window Displays
Start at the bottom of Central Park and walk down admiring the incredible Holiday Window Displays at some of New York's most famous stores:
Barneys - 660 Madison Avenue between 60th and 61st Streets
Bloomingdale's - 59th Street and Lexington Avenue
Bergdorf Goodman - 754 Fifth Avenue at 58th Street
Tiffany & Co - 727 Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets
Cartier - 653 Fifth Avenue at 52nd Street
Saks Fifth Avenue - 611 Fifth Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets
Lord Lord & Taylor - 424 Fifth Avenue at 39th Street
Macy's - Sixth Avenue and 34th Street
4. Macy's Believe Campaign
Believers of all ages can bring their stamped letter to Macy’s addressed to 'Santa at The North Pole', and drop it into the special letterbox. You can also create and send a letter online at macys.com/believe. For each letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1,000,000!
Also, if you're looking to shop at Macy's. For the three days leading up to Christmas it is open 24 hours and it's nearly empty if you go late or early. It's almost unheard of to shop in a store that's not crowded at Christmas time in New York - so take advantage of it!
5. Holiday Markets
New York's Holiday Markets are the perfect place to find a unique gift. With hundreds of vendors between all of the markets - you are sure to find something for everyone on your list. Some of the biggest markets are at Union Square, Columbus Circle and Grand Central Station.
6. Ice Skating
Ice Skating in New York is a Christmas tradition! The best and most iconic ice skating rinks are at Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and Central Park.
7. Explore!
The best thing about New York is that you can walk everywhere. Take 'wrong' turns and see what magic you find. Little Italy is one of my favorite areas to go at this time of year.
8. Rooftop Bars
Rooftop Bars are a must in New York any time of year. But don't be discouraged by the cold! A nice warm drink and some heat lamps make them a great winter activity - and a perfect date idea! Some of my favorites are 230 Fifth (location in the video), The Ides, Hudson Hotel and Refinery Rooftop.
Enjoy your time in New York City! Try not to spend too much time shopping - there is so much magic to be seen in one of the most iconic places to be this time of year :)

Conquering Colorado Black Canyon
Hey Everybody! come join me and have some fun at The Black Canyon of the Gunnison!
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is a United States National Park located in western Colorado and managed by the National Park Service. There are 3 entrances to the park. The south rim entrance is located 15 miles (24 km) east of Montrose, while the north rim entrance is 11 miles (18 km) south of Crawford and is closed in the winter. The park contains 12 miles (19 km) of the 48-mile (77 km) long canyon of the Gunnison River. The national park itself contains the deepest and most dramatic section of the canyon, but the canyon continues upstream into Curecanti National Recreation Area and downstream into Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area. The canyon's name owes itself to the fact that parts of the gorge only receive 33 minutes of sunlight a day, according to The Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In the book, Vandenbusche states, Several canyons of the American West are longer and some are deeper, but none combines the depth, sheerness, narrowness, darkness, and dread of the Black Canyon. The Gunnison River drops an average of 34 feet per mile (6.4 m/km) through the entire canyon, making it the 5th steepest mountain descent in North America. By comparison, the Colorado River drops an average of 7.5 feet per mile through the Grand Canyon. The greatest descent of the Gunnison River occurs within the park at Chasm View dropping 240 feet per mile. The Black Canyon is so named due its steepness which makes it difficult for sunlight to penetrate into its depths. As a result, the canyon is often shrouded in shadow, causing the rocky walls to appear black. At its narrowest point the canyon is only 40 ft wide at the river.
The extremely narrow walls of the canyon
Overview Black Canyon with Gunnison River
The extreme steepness and depth of the Black Canyon formed as the result of several geologic processes acting together. The Gunnison River is primarily responsible for carving the canyon, though several other geologic events had to occur in order to form the canyon as it is seen today.

Rocky Mountain National Park is a national park located in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in the north-central region of the U.S. state of Colorado. It features majestic mountain views, mountain lakes, a variety of wildlife, varied climates and environments—from wooded forests to mountain tundra—and easy access to back-country trails and campsites. The park is located northwest of Boulder, Colorado, in the Rockies, and includes the Continental Divide and the headwaters of the Colorado River.
The park has five visitor centers. The park headquarters, Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, is a National Historic Landmark, designed by the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin West.[3]
The park may be accessed by three roads: U.S. Highway 34, 36, and State Highway 7. Highway 7 enters the park for less than a mile, where it provides access to the Lily Lake Visitor Center which is closed indefinitely. Farther south, spurs from route 7 lead to campgrounds and trail heads around Longs Peak and Wild Basin. Highway 36 enters the park on the east side, where it terminates after a few miles at Highway 34. Highway 34, known as Trail Ridge Road through the park, runs from the town of Estes Park on the east to Grand Lake on the southwest. The road reaches an elevation of 12,183 feet (3,713 m), and is closed by snow in winter,More Info :
