Witley Court on Flog It BBC
Witley Court in Worcestershire, England is a Grade I listed building[1] and was once one of the great houses of the Midlands, but today it is a spectacular ruin after being devastated by fire in 1937. It was built by Thomas Foley in 1655 on the site of a former manor house near Great Witley. Subsequent additions were designed by John Nash in the early 19th century and the Court was subsequently bought by the Dudley family in 1837. The site was acquired in 1953 by its current owners, the Wigington Family of Stratford-upon-Avon, for £20,000, and is in the guardianship of the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and managed on its behalf by English Heritage since 1984.
Witley Court
Witley Court the album at -
This is a song recounting my own personal experience at Witley Court in the summer of 1989. I was living in a town called Malvern near Worchester. I went to Witley Court in the middle of the night and spent several hours there with some friends I made in Malvern, Worcestershire. This was before the restoration of the fountains. At night it was an amazingly eerie and haunting place. I never forgot it. I've since been back to visit it twice. I went on to write and record a full album about Witley court and it's histrory. The full album can be found at the above link. The violin on this song was performed by Timothy Horner Witley Court is managed by English Heritage.
