In this interactive program multi-instrumentalist and artistic impresario Juma Sultan will guide audience members down a winding, philosophical and spiritual path that explores his engagement with Jimi Hendrix and Woodstock in the 1960s, and later collaborations with the largely African American New York jazz loft scene of the 1970s.
It’s too late. Let’s get to work anyway.

Forum Opening Plenary
Please join us for the opening plenary for the 2019 DLF Forum. After brief welcome and logistical remarks, we will enjoy a keynote talk by Dr. Marisa Duarte, entitled Beautiful Data: Justice, Code, and Architectures of the Sublime.
If library and information science has an aesthetic it might manifest in the precision and orderliness of clean, appropriately labeled data. The more seamless our systems are, the less likely the user is to need us at every turn. She will have the freedom to effectively navigate the systems we build as she searches for the documents that, we hope, will relieve cognitive dissonance, satisfy a need to know, and inspire an unencumbered intellectual drive. Yet social changes in the US relating to race and surveillance, algorithmic discrimination, loss of privacy, and hate speech online is showing us that beautiful data is perhaps more of a mirage than a reality. Understanding the relationship between data and justice also helps us understand the role of digital libraries as institutions for change, and teaches us about the radical serenity of librarianship.

The Round Barn
The adjacent Round Barn, built in 1910, was beautifully restored between 1988 and 1990, and, instead of cows, the Barn now hosts magical Vermont weddings, wedding receptions, concerts, art exhibits, and other events, such as business conferences, executive retreats and family reunions. A balance of social and cultural events fill the historic building with life year-round. For a history on the Round Barn Farm go to the Barn Journal.

Morning Exercises | Harvard University Commencement 2014
The Morning Exercises at Harvard's 363nd Commencement at Tercentenary Theatre on May 29, 2014.
For more information on this year's Commencement, visit
Welcome to the 363rd Harvard Commencement. Although Harvard's first Commencement in 1642 is more than 372 years behind us, Commencement numbering has fallen out of step as exercises were omitted for reasons ranging from war to plague. The cumulative effect is that 2014, for example, marks only the 363rd Harvard Commencement.
Commencement at Harvard is comprised of three components: the ceremonial Morning Exercises, during which University degrees are conferred; the mid-day luncheons and diploma-awarding ceremonies at the undergraduate Houses, Graduate and Professional Schools; and the afternoon Annual Meeting of the Harvard Alumni Association, during which Harvard's president and the featured Commencement speaker deliver their addresses.
The Morning Exercises, which convene in the outdoor Tercentenary Theatre, are attended by approximately 32,000 degree candidates, family members, faculty, alumni/ae, and guests.
