Thank you to my sister Pam and brother in law Derek for joining me on this food tour of San Diego, California! And during the video I said Oceanside once, but I meant *Ocean Beach. We were on a family vacation in California, but on one day, we decided to go on an ultimate San Diego California food tour. It was a lot of fun, and you’ll find all the information of all the places we ate below:
Breakfast at Northside Shack - We started off in the morning, and first headed to Northside Shack to try their highly rated açaí bowl. It’s a laid back kind of spot, and I ordered the $11 bowl which was the large size. The acai is frozen into a sorget, and then they layered it with granola, about 12 different kinds of fruits, and nuts and seeds. It was delicious and refreshing, great way to begin this food tour.
Hodad's - Probably one of the most legendary of all restaurants in San Diego, California is Hodad’s serving massive double bacon cheeseburgers, and classic American food. The original location is located in Ocean Beach, and it has so much character, plastered with graffiti and stickers. Derek and I each ordered the double bacon cheeseburger, which is a monster burger. It takes some strategy to eat, but it was well worth it. It’s a delicious burger, and I also really enjoyed the onion rings. Price - $14.25
Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill - Pam and Derek had been here before and they knew it was good, so it was a restaurant in San Diego that I was looking forward to trying. You stand in line, order at the counter, and then find a seat. They offer fresh fish of the day, everything very fresh. We started with some oysters and the main dish, which was the best dish of the meal for me was the blackened black seabass. Delicious food, one of the best restaurants I ate at in San Diego. Total price - $65.23
Communal Coffee - Next we stopped to have a quick avocado toast and coffee. It was my first avocado toast at a restaurant, and although it was a little dainty, it was pretty awesomely delicious, a real treat. Price - $26.02 for everything (I think 3 coffees and avocado)
Nine Seas Seafood - Home of the Crazy Tostada, this seafood food truck is a gem of Mexican seafood. We ordered a few ceviches, not knowing how enormous the crazy tostadas were. They were huge, and packed with just about “everything from the sea.” But not only were the crazy tostates huge and crazy, but they were delicious, especially loaded with salsa. Total price - $24.75 for everything
And that completes this San Diego food tour. It was an amazing day and the food was delicious!

Illegal Border Crossing at San Diego Sea Wall, Steel Slats don't work!
Dan Bilzerian's poor overweight twin helps me document a group of 14 border crossers climbing under the fencing that separates San Diego, USA and Tijuana, Mexico. They were greeted at first by a single border agent, before he arrived it seemed like no one was going to stop them as I filmed. The group was made up of 14 people, a nearly equal mix of adult men, adult women, and children. After arriving, he calmly waved them over and they complied knowing they would be processed and on a path to eventual release into the USA. I didn't notice if any fencing was tampered with, it definitely looked like they were doing something on the other side, it looked like symbolic kicking or exercise and I really didn't know what to make of it. Maintenance workers showed up almost immediately, inspected the slats where they penetrated, and welded extra steel panels on. I'm not even sure if they got the spot they crawled through though. I just arrived in San Diego yesterday after a 5 year hiatus so perhaps this happens every day at this particular spot but it was exciting to me. Considering how much barbed wire they had on portions of the fencing it was strange they didn't have it extending into the tide line of the ocean, obviously it will rust and need to be replaced eventually but would make climbing under where they did too hazardous unless they took time to cut through it. It was also confusing how there was enough space to get through that portion of the slats unless it were because of rust. Farther up from the beach the slats are embeded into a concrete fixture.
This incident took place at the beach next to the International Friendship Park in Border Field State Park, south of San Diego, California and north of Tijuana, Mexico on April 1, 2019. There was no large migrant caravan of thousands of people yet and it looked like a normal day on either side of the border as far as I could tell.
Police wanted to IMPOUND..so he shipped it overseas!

What New Marine Corps Recruits Go Through In Boot Camp
We got an inside look at the United States Marine Corps’ intense 13-week basic training program. Senior video correspondent Graham Flanagan spent five days at the Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot in Parris Island, South Carolina, where he observed different companies at various stages of training.
Recruits endure a series of intense physical challenges such as entering a gas chamber, rappelling down a 47-foot-tower, and fighting each other with “pugil sticks.” The Marine Corps is the only US military branch that separates male and female recruits during basic training. In a statement to Business Insider, a spokesperson from the Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot at Parris Island said, “The same gender platoon model allows for appropriate acclimation to the training environment, development of key relationships with drill instructors, and optimal focus during the beginning of their transformation.”
After weeks of extreme physical and psychological challenges, training culminates with “The Crucible,” a 54-hour event where recruits endure exhausting combat scenarios while running on minimal food and sleep.

What New Marine Corps Recruits Go Through In Boot Camp
NE1 December 1983 San Diego Public Access Get Serious
December 1983 episode of the San Diego public access TV program Club 33 featuring N-E-1 performing Get Serious. N-E-1 was an early 1980s new wave ska band whose precursor began in 1980 as the Cartunes, with a lineup featuring Rob Glickman (who was 16 when he joined the band), Timothy Cien, Manny Cien, and sax player Eddie Croft. They rehearsed in Spring Valley and performed at locales like Escondido’s Distillery East Nightclub.
They recorded a full-length, So We Go, and appeared on local TV shows like Club 33 and 91X Rocks to Riches Showcase. As the band enjoyed an increasingly high profile, they shared bills with many of the major punk, new wave, and garage bands of the time, including opening for the Clash, Madness, UB40, Oingo Boingo, and Translator. They won a 91X Rocks to Riches competition, becoming one of the radio station's top 100 most requested bands with their single 1-2-3. Another single was recorded at the end of 1980, “Hey You” b/w “Get Serious,” with the label billing the band as N/E-One (now very rare). Other members included at various times Clifford Marcial Jomuad (who left in 1982 and formed his own band two years later, Nein) and Bill Williams.
Their last performance as N-E-1 was in 1987, with their last album being as the somewhat less ska-influenced Moon Dogs. They reunited onstage for the first time at Sounds Like San Diego VI, at the Museum of Making Music on July 11, 2014. They reunited again in December 2014 at the Casbah, with a lineup featuring the founding foursome of Tim Cien, Manny Cien, Rob Glickman, and Ed Croft, along with Barry Brown on keys and Fred Allee on drums.
Ed Croft and Tim and Manny Cien also played together in Heavy on the 7, formed in 2014 along with Barry Brown and Patrick Armenta. Croft also went on to play with Buddy Blue, Rocking Dopsie, Midnight Death Trap Quartet, Blue Largo, the Basin Brothers, Sex Drugs & Jazz, the Avant Guardians, Muggles Meshugana Lounge, Michael Ray & the Cosmic Krewe, and Ritmo Caribeno. As of 2016, Tim and Manny Cien were performing blues together as the Fire Brothers, and members have also been known to perform as the Reign Makers.
N-E-1 reunited once more in summer 2016 at Lestat's, and again in April 2018 at the Tower Bar, with the latter show featuring founders Croft/Cien/Glickman/Cien backed by Richard T-Bone Larson on drums.
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded between from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on Youtube or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.

Sian Welch & Wendy Ingraham - The Crawl - Remake on Golden Goal
Wendy Ingraham and Sian Welch gave the 1997 Ironman World Championships the kind of drama no triathlon could buy.
Within 50 yards of the finish line in Kailua-Kona, the two women simultaneously suffered severe cramps and wound up racing each other to the finish on their hands and knees before a worldwide TV audience.
It was like someone took a baseball bat and whacked my legs, said 34-year-old Wendy Ingraham of Walnut Creek, Calif., who finished fourth among the women.
It was an experience that made me better, said Welch, but I put it out of my mind a long time ago.
Both women are back on the Big Island for tomorrow's Ironman, and neither wants a repeat of the bizarre incident dubbed, The Diaper Dash.
I plan to use a little more nutrition this year, said Welch, who was fifth.
The 31-year-old San Diego resident found herself vomiting during the 112-mile bike ride.
I had no electrolytes and was only drinking Coke and water.
Ingraham said her salt tablets fell out of her wrist band on the run, and that created problems for her last year.
I need a lot of sodium in my body, she said. To make sure she doesn't lose all of her tablets, she said she will tuck them various pieces of clothing on her person.
Ingraham was leading the women's race until the 15th mile when the loss of her sodium tablets caused the cramps to begin.
Welch arrived in the finish area in third place but wound up fifth after struggling to the finish on the strength of spectator chants of Crawl! Crawl!
Her husband, Greg Welch, dragged her off the course after she got across the line.
Mentally, it made me stronger and now I can probably get through anything, said Ingraham who was picked up by her boyfriend and carried away.
