Marion Ohio Popcorn Festival Parade 2015
The Marion Popcorn Festival is held each year the weekend following Labor Day. The festival is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00am to midnight.
The festival takes place in the heart of downtown Marion.
Located in downtown Marion, Ohio, it is the largest popcorn festival in the world annually attracting crowds in excess of 250,000.
The First Marion Popcorn Festival was held in September of 1981. The Popcorn Festival was the idea of a number of local business men that worked with local city officials to organize the festival. It was the intent of the organizers to create a 3-day festival that would promote Marion and offer free, nationally-known headline entertainment. Popcorn was picked because Marion County in Ohio is one of the top growers of popcorn in the United States and Wyandot, Inc. is one of the largest exporters of popcorn in the World.

President Harding Memorial Marion, Ohio
Designed by Henry Hornbostel, Eric Fisher Wood and Edward Mellon, the winners of a 1925 national design competition, the Harding Memorial located in Marion, Ohio is 103 feet in diameter and 53 feet in height.
The structure is unroofed (peribolus), in the style of some Greek temples in which the center (Hypaethros) was open to the sky and without a roof (medium autem sub diva est sine tecto).[2] The open design honors the Hardings' wishes that they be buried outside, and is covered in ivy and other plantings.
Marion Ohio is rich with the Harding legacy. This video is dedicated to a proud Ohioan's heritage. This structure is an marble encrusted spectacle of beauty, built to last the test of time. You can be sure this will be here many hundreds of years into the future!
Music is America the Beautiful as performed and recorded by the United States Air Force Band.

The Pencil Sharpener Museum
One of our favorite things to do on a road trip is to visit off-beat, quirky museums. The Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum in the beautiful Hocking Hills of Ohio is said to be the largest collection of pencil sharpeners in the world! Sporting over 3400 pencil sharpeners, the museum offers a nostalgic look at getting to the point.
Paul Johnson's amazing collection and the shed in which he housed it, was donated to the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center in 2010. Many visitors to the museum stay on the lookout for unique pencil sharpeners which they purchase and donate to the museum.
The Paul A. Johnson Pencil Sharpener Museum is open to the public Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the museum is free (or we luckily timed our visit when someone was on break:) The Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center is located at 13178 State Route 664 South, Logan, Ohio, 43138
