Xi’an city walls are the most well-preserved ancient walls in China, also one of the largest ancient city walls in terms of scale in the world. In ancient China, city walls mainly served as a defense mechanism, safeguarding city dweller’s life and labor. Nowadays, there are 18 city gates in Xi’an city walls, each one of which bears rich history, standing witness of the vicissitudes of this ancient city.

Welcome to the Bell tower
After staying in Xi'an for over 1 year I decided to go and check out the BELL TOWER. Its in the centre of Xi'an and one of the most famous structures in Shaanxi province China. I must say its nothing less then wat I have expected.The tower is a 3 story building with an ancient bell (3500kg) hanging on a timber man made structure.
It costs 35 RMB for a single entry ticket

Hotel Nightmare - We had to change hotels! | Bell and Drum Tower | Xi'an, China
In this episode, we head back into downtown Xi'an to continue exploring the local sites and culture! As we checked into our new hotel, we were greeted with an unpleasant surprise. The hotel was run down, smelled very strongly of cigarettes, and the walls and sheets were dirty. It looked nothing like the pictures we saw online. The only plus side was the beautiful view we had of the bell tower. We don't normally get very picky about our accommodations, but the smell of cigarettes was too strong to spend the next 5 nights in. We reluctantly spent a couple hours in the hotel room trying to figure out how to call Expedia to cancel our reservation, and after many different attempts, were able to do so. Once we had a new hotel booked, we FINALLY got to head out to explore.
We spent the rest of the day checking out the Xi'an Bell Tower and Drum tower, both of which were in close proximity to each other. The bell tower was located in the middle of the city, and in ancient times, was used to notify the city of different times during the day. The drum tower (only a 5 minute walk away from the bell tower) housed different types of drums that would have been used as well. We made it to the drum tower just in time to catch the last show of the day!

China Trip 2019 - Xi’an Bell Tower (西安）
I had an amazing trip to Xi’an, and wanted to share some memories I had going there! Xi’an is an ancient city in Shaanxi Province, China, with many famous historical places to visit, such as the Xi’an Bell Tower! This iconic symbol of Chinese history stood in the center of the ancient city for about 1000 years! I built this famous tower, with some added Minecraft mixed in of course. Hope you enjoy!

Drum and Bell Tower - Xi'an
Its worth taking a look at the Drum and Bell Tower whilst staying in Xi'an, There are lovely views of the city from the top.
Of all the cities in China I visited, I was the most impressed with Xi'an. The shopping scene was superb for both local goods and touristy items. Spend some time looking around away from the touristy areas and you can usually find some excellent bargains.
On the whole the people were most friendly and helpful, even if there grasp of English was limited.

Xi'an, China: City Walls & Goose Pagodas in 4K (Ultra HD)
Xi'an is one of the oldest cities in China, it served as China’s capital for more than 1,100 years.
The city wall was built starting from 1370. It is the world's largest city wall - 12 m/40 ft high, 15 m/50 ft wide on the top, 14 km/8.5 mi long. The Great Wild Goose Pagoda was completed in 652 (64 m/210 ft), and was built to store the translations of Buddhist sutras obtained from India. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda was completed in 707. The Grand Mosque, 8th century, is the oldest mosque in China, it blends Islamic and Chinese architecture styles.
