Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian - China Travel Channel
The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is the landmark of the city of Xi'an. The entire temple complex stands as a symbol to the monk Xuangzang, who translated and stored the Buddhist scriptures he brought back with him from a trip to India. The 64 m high pagoda is from the year 652 and at one time had 10 stories.
The pagoda was built by Emperor Gaozong in memory of his deceased mother. In addition to the pagoda, the temple complex includes a main and secondary hall and a bell and drum tower. In the halls are a series of Buddhist fine art items such as jade reliefs, stone sculptures and images of Buddha.

Wahrzeichen der Stadt Xian ist die Große Wildganspagode. Die gesamte Tempelanlage steht im Zeichen des Mönches Xuangzang, der hier seine buddhistischen Schriften, die er von seiner Reise nach Indien mitgebracht hatte, übersetzte und aufbewahrte. 西安碑林博物馆位于三学街，南边紧靠着明代城墙，西边接着书院门古文化街。在西安这个现代的大都市里，偶尔能找到像这样一片优雅僻静的古典建筑群，勾起对往昔的回忆。
The Museum of stele forest in Xi'an is situated on Sanxue Street, and the southern side is next to the Ming Dynasty city wall. In this modern metropolis of Xi'an, occasionally a graceful and secluded classical architecture like this can be found, evoking memories from the past.
博物馆的前半部分原来是一座孔庙，最南端是一堵墙，叫做“照壁”，是1918年重建的。照壁的外侧用楷书刻着”孔庙”两个大字。西安孔庙最初是唐太宗的时代建成的，是中国历史最久的孔庙之一。
The first half of the museum turned out to be a Confucian Temple. The southern tip of the museum is a wall called Zhao Bi, which was rebuilt in 1918. The outside of the wall features the large text Confucian Temple embossed in Kai script. This Confucian Temple of Xi'an was first built in the era of the Taizong Emeperor of Tang, and is one of longest-lasting Confucian Temple in Chinese history.
博物馆的后半部分就是闻名天下的“西安碑林”，算得上是中国历史最久、数量最多、质量最高的碑林了。碑林的建造可以追溯到900年前的北宋。那时以来经历过多次整修，藏石的数量也不断增加，最终形成了今天西安市数一数二的历史文化景观。
The second half of the museum is known as the Xi'an stele forest, which is the oldest, largest and highest quality stele forest in China. Its construction can be traced back to the Northern Song Dynasty 900 years ago. Since then, there have been many renovations, and the number of collected steles has been increasing. Eventually, this historical and cultural landscape finally formed, and can be counted as one of the top [attractions] of Xi'an.
