Aubrey was a Speech Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

Nexus Holidays Xi'an
Home to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, Xi'an has been one of the four great ancient capitals of China for centuries. It is also the starting point of Silk Road and best known as Chang'an in Tang Dynasty, one of the most prosperous periods in China. This short and sweet video presentation gives you a general impression of the city.
Discovering the authentic Xi'an in China
Xi’an is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the northwest of China. Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end. The city is the oldest of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history.

The Overnight Train From Shanghai to Xi'an, China
We took the overnight train from Shanghai to Xi'an, China. It was a 15 hour journey and half of that under the cover of night.
The countryside looked positively post-apocalyptic. Factories intermingled with residential homes with no regard for urban planning. Coal power plants dotted the landscape. Visibility was no more than 1km due to pollution.
The one thing we noticed above all was the absolute lack of life. There was the odd person walking alone, the odd car, the odd dog, but no real life. It looked deserted. Houses, buildings, factories... all looked deserted, abandoned..

Walking through Chinese farm country. - Small China city. - Living in Sichuan, China - Luzhou, China
???? The mountain outside of our window in rural China called to us for a long time, and one Sunday afternoon we decided to leave the city behind and take a nice hike out into the Chinese countryside.
I've got a lot of feelings about farm life ... the most prevalent being: Eww, duck poop. But it was very cool to see a part of China that most expats don't have access too.

Shiba inu Ann's adventure in Xi'an: urban village barbeque feast!
Recommended to turn on English sub.
We heard a brand new shopping mall is opening up nearby. However no restaurants inside are suitable for dogs. As night falls, why not have a barbecue feast instead? Fried noodles, grilled beef, sausage, chicken stomach with local fizzy drink are so yummy!
