Best thing to do in Xiamen #tong'an studio
The Tong'an Film and Television City totally occupies an area of 1000 mu. It is an entertainment city having artificial landscape in the style of ancient times. It is a palace built in the style of the Forbidden City (Imperial Palace) in Beijing, with the Gate of Heavenly Peace, Hall of Supreme Harmony and Hall of Heart Nourishing of, the Long Corridor of the Summer Palace and a street full of the atmosphere of Ming and Qing dynasties as its main buildings.
The keynote for the first phase of construction of the City is magnificent, resplendent and full of ancient feelings. The Gate of Heavenly Peace is one fourth smaller than that of Beijing, adopting the large timber structure, cornices and bracket sets, carved beams and painted rafters with delicate craftsmanship. It is both ancient and simple and resplendent.
On the rooftop of the towers, the ridges of the palace is decorated with more than ten mascots such as dragons, phoenix, lions, sea horses, heavenly horses, ancient goats, monkeys, kylins and spirits, etc. The Hall of Supreme Harmony, also called the Hall of Golden Throne, is smaller than that of Beijing but with identical decorations and furnishings. The long corridor is also in the style of that of the Summer House in Beijing, with the total length of 410 meters. The street of Ming and Qing dynasties is buildings of private citizens mainly in the style of residential buildings in Old Beijing in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are also 38 stores in the style of grand old stores in the city of Beijing, with each store one fourth smaller. Blue bricks and gray roof tiles coupled with the color of appearance of buildings in Beijing give us the feelings of Old Beijing.
On the right side of the Gate of Heavenly Peace is the Children's Playground, where parents and children share joys. It is a wonderland that combines children's thinking with high technology. There are such games as pokers and jump balls, miracle zone, the portal of interstellar, wonderful rainbow. It is a fantastic place for broadening experiences and amusement teaching. Located below the Hall of Supreme Harmony, with all sorts of lifelike dinosaurs among the green shades and exotic stones, the Dinosaur World of Jurassic Period vividly reproduces the ecology of dinosaurs using the most modern scientific technology and let tourists experience the wonder of Jurassic nature.
The other scenic spots in Tong'an Scenic Area are Fantian Temple, Confucius Temple of Tong'an, Former House of Su Song, Twelve Dragon Pools of North Mountain, Tong'an Museum and Three Islands of Dacheng, etc

Glimpses of Xiamen University Campus
Overview of Xiamen Academy - Content taken from :
In 1921, Mr. Tan Kah Kee, a well-known patriotic overseas Chinese leader, founded Xiamen University (XMU), which was the first university to be founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education. XMU has long been listed among China’s leading universities on the national 211 Project and 985 Project which ensure privileged support for its sustainable and strategic development. Xiamen University Malaysia Campus is the first overseas branch campus established by a prestigious Chinese university.

Ep.27-Ancestral Halls in China -- BONTV
The ancestral hall of the Xiang family(项氏祠堂) has just been confirmed as being built more than 500 years ago. It is the only well preserved ancestral hall in Daye(大冶) in Hunan province.
Ancestral halls are used by large families for ancestor worship. They're also the location of weddings, funerals, birthdays and for celebrating festivals. The glazed tiles along the eaves have been caved into vivid patterns of flowers, birds and dragons. The hall has 2 plaques, with the first reading The tomb of the Xiang family's earliest ancestor.
Interview: 柯小杰 Ke Xiao Jie, male, curator of Daye Cultural Centre
The stage and the lighting of the courtyard are very special. The style of architecture as a whole, is quite unique, especially the design of combining the courtyard and stage as one.
Based on the architectural style and the genealogy records, we estimate that the ancestral hall was built during Ming Dynasty. It has been destroyed several times during different war periods and then rebuilt several times during the last few hundred years.
The whole building is 460 sq meters, and the section first built in the Ming Dynasty is 106sq meters. The Xiang family is said to have settled in Daye about 600 years ago. This was when the Yuan Dynasty was overthrown and replaced by the Ming Dynasty. Some speculate that the family may have fled to Daye to escape the war and then built the ancestral hall.

Shenzhen ([ʂə́n.ʈʂə̂n] (listen)) is a major city in Guangdong Province, China; it forms part of the Pearl River Delta megalopolis north of Hong Kong. It holds sub-provincial administrative status, with powers slightly less than a province.
Shenzhen, which roughly follows the administrative boundaries of Bao'an County, officially became a city in 1979, taking its name from the former county town, whose train station was the last stop on the Mainland Chinese section of the railway between Canton and Kowloon. In 1980, Shenzhen was established as China's first special economic zone. Shenzhen's registered population as of 2017 was estimated at 12,905,000. SUMMARY
=======
The Song dynasty (Chinese: 宋朝; pinyin: Sòng cháo; 960–1279) was an era of Chinese history that began in 960 and continued until 1279. It was founded by Emperor Taizu of Song following his usurpation of the throne of Later Zhou, ending the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The Song often came into conflict with the contemporary Liao and Western Xia dynasties in the north and was conquered by the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. The Song government was the first in world history to issue banknotes or true paper money nationally and the first Chinese government to establish a permanent standing navy. This dynasty also saw the first known use of gunpowder, as well as the first discernment of true north using a compass.
The Song dynasty is divided into two distinct periods, Northern and Southern. During the Northern Song (Chinese: 北宋; 960–1127), the Song capital was in the northern city of Bianjing (now Kaifeng) and the dynasty controlled most of what is now Eastern China. The Southern Song (Chinese: 南宋; 1127–1279) refers to the period after the Song lost control of its northern half to the Jurchen Jin dynasty in the Jin–Song Wars. During this time, the Song court retreated south of the Yangtze and established its capital at Lin'an (now Hangzhou). Although the Song dynasty had lost control of the traditional birthplace of Chinese civilization along the Yellow River, the Song economy was still strong, as the Southern Song Empire contained a large population and productive agricultural land. The Southern Song dynasty considerably bolstered its naval strength to defend its waters and land borders and to conduct maritime missions abroad. To repel the Jin, and later the Mongols, the Song developed revolutionary new military technology augmented by the use of gunpowder. In 1234, the Jin dynasty was conquered by the Mongols, who took control of northern China, maintaining uneasy relations with the Southern Song. Möngke Khan, the fourth Great Khan of the Mongol Empire, died in 1259 while besieging the city of Chongqing. His younger brother Kublai Khan was proclaimed the new Great Khan, though his claim was only partially recognized by the Mongols in the west. In 1271, Kublai Khan was proclaimed the Emperor of China. After two decades of sporadic warfare, Kublai Khan's armies conquered the Song dynasty in 1279. The Mongol invasion led to a reunification under the Yuan dynasty (1271–1368).The population of China doubled in size during the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries. This growth was made possible by expanded rice cultivation in central and southern Song, the use of early-ripening rice from south-east and southern Asia, and the production of widespread food surpluses. The Northern Song census recorded 20 million households, double of the Han and Tang dynasties. It is estimated that the Northern Song had a population of some 120 million people, and 200 million by the time of the Ming dynasty. This dramatic increase of population fomented an economic revolution in pre-modern China. The expansion of the population, growth of cities, and the emergence of a national economy led to the gradual withdrawal of the central government from direct involvement in economic affairs. The lower gentry assumed a larger role in grassroots administration and local affairs. Appointed officials in county and provincial centers relied upon the scholarly gentry for their services, sponsorship, and local supervision.
Social life during the Song was vibrant. Citizens gathered to view and trade precious artworks, the populace intermingled at public festivals and private clubs, and cities had lively entertainment quarters. The spread of literature and knowledge was enhanced by the rapid expansion of woodblock printing and the 11th-century invention of movable-type printing. Technology, science, philosophy, mathematics, and engineering flourished over the course of the Song. Philosopher ...

However, local police and authorities estimate the actual population to be about 20 million, due to large populations of short-term residents, unregistered floating migrants, part-time residents, commuters, visitors, as well as other temporary residents. Shenzhen was one of the fastest-growing cities in the world in the 1990s and the 2000s and has been ranked second on the list of ‘top 10 cities to visit in 2019 by Lonely Planet.Shenzhen's cityscape results from its vibrant economy - made possible by rapid foreign investment following the institution of the policy of reform and opening-up in 1979. The city is a leading global technology hub, dubbed by media as the next Silicon Valley.Shenzhen hosts the Shenzhen Stock Exchange as well as the headquarters of numerous multinational companies such as JXD, Vanke, Hytera, CIMC, SF Express, Shenzhen Airlines, Nepstar, Hasee, Ping An Bank, Ping An Insurance, China Merchants Bank, Tencent, ZTE, Huawei, DJI and BYD. Shenzhen ranks 14th in the 2019 Global Financial Centres Index. It has one of the busiest container ports in the world.

SUMMARY
=======
