World's biggest automated cargo wharf, the fourth phase of the Yangshan deep-water port started operation on Sunday.
The core technology of the robotic port was developed independently by China.
The forth phrase of Yangshan port takes up an area of 2.23 million square meters, whose coastline stretches as long as 2,350 meters. It consists of two 70,000 dead-weight tonnage (DWT) berths and five 50,000 DWT berths.

Yangshan city port is the world’s number one container port and a crucial part of China’s Belt and Road initiative to develop a seamless logistical infrastructure for its goods across the world.
Located at the mouth of the Yangtse River outside Shanghai, Yangshan handles more containers than any of its rivals, thanks to the latest technology. RTD gets a tour of the facilities with a port operations assistant, a crane operator and a harbour pilot, and sees what’s involved in maintaining the port’s reputation.
To understand what made China’s historic Maritime Silk Road so great and why the country is so keen to revive the spirit of that era in the 21st century, RTD also takes a trip to the Maritime Silk Road Museum in Guangdong province. There, a tenth-century shipwreck, the Nanhai 1, is yielding its valuable cargo’s secrets to archaeologists. Meanwhile, social scientists explain why China believes combining technological innovation and sea trade gives it such an edge.

China Biggest Automated Cargo Wharf Yangshan Deep-water Port in Shanghai
Yangshan Port (Chinese: 洋山港, p Yángshān Gǎng, Wu Yan-se Kaon), formally the Yangshan Deep-Water Port (洋山深水港, p Yángshān Shēnshuǐ Gǎng, Wu Yan-se Sen-sy Kaon), is a deep water port for container ships in Hangzhou Bay south of Shanghai. Connected to Shanghai's Pudong New Area by the Donghai Bridge and forming part of the Port of Shanghai, the islands of Greater and Lesser Yangshan are administered separately as part of Zhejiang's Shengsi County.
Built to allow the Port of Shanghai to grow despite shallow waters near the shore, it allows berths with depths of up to 15 metres (49 ft) to be built, and can handle today's largest container ships. The port is built on the islands of Greater and Lesser Yangshan, part of the Zhoushan archipelago, with fill from land reclamation.
In 2015, the port handled 36.54 million Twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) up 3.5% over 2014. [1] In 2013 the volume was 33.6 million TEU. [2]In mid-2011, port officials said the port was on track to move 12.3 million TEUs during the year, up from 10.1 million TEUs in 2010.

It is connected to the mainland via the 32.5 km (20.2 mi) Donghai Bridge, opened on 1 December 2005 as the world's longest sea bridge. The six-lane highway bridge took 6,000 workers two and half years to construct.

In 2000 and 2001, the decision was made to commence construction on the first of four phases. The first two phases have nine berths in total along a 3 km (1.9 mi) quayside. The first phase, which opened in 2004, can accommodate 2.2 million containers annually and includes 10 quay cranes. The second phase was opened in December 2006, and comprises 72 hectares (180 acres) with 15 quay cranes. The third phase, opened in stages, was completed in 2010 with seven berths.[citation needed] The fourth phase, expected to open in 2015, will add 4 million TEUs to the port's annual capacity.
The total cost of building the port may reach US$12 billion over 20 years.[3] When complete, the port will have 30 berths capable of handling 15 million TEUs annually

Most tourist attractions you can search up on youtube and youll find drone footage of it, but when i looked for yangshan port i only saw ariel photos. Its on its own island that was once 2 islands that China filled in. The only people on the island are port workers and about 5 tourists. I dont know the legality of this, but i assume since beijing has a auto disable policy on my phantom, anywhere else in China is fine as long as im not malicious.

Yangshan, just outside Shanghai, is the world’s busiest container port. It was built in record time on reclaimed islands in the early 2000s to accommodate ultra-large container vessels with a deep draft. The high-tech port is also a key element of China’s Belt and Road initiative to develop global transport infrastructure.
With RTD, you get to see Yanshan port at work: from a Danish container ship’s helm with the pilot guiding it to its berth; from the top of a crane as its operator unloads the ship’s highly explosive cargo; and from its control room with the port operations assistant who has to keep all port movements on schedule.
You can also relive the glory days of China’s original Maritime Silk Road at the Maritime Silk Road Museum on Hailing Island. The Museum’s centrepiece is the Nanhai 1, a 10th Century shipwreck laden with earthenware that became known as china. There, social scientists explain why the original Silk Road was so successful, and how it is inspiring Chinese government policy today.
