Yaroslavl 1000 Years
Yaroslavl is the Administrative Center of Yaroslavl Oblast and one of Russia's Oldest City. The Year 2010 Yaroslavl Celebrated its 1000th Founding. The City is an Important Historical ( UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE CITY ) and Industrial Center. The City was once the De Facto Capital of Russia during the times of troubles that preceded until the 18th Century.
During its 1000-year history Yaroslavl has been one of the strongholds of the Russian statehood. The rulers of Russia, the Ryurikovichs and the Romanovs reigning dynasties, and later the Soviet leaders attached great importance to the city. The very fact of the city foundation was the act of independent political will of the young Prince Yaroslav (the Wise) when he established a fortress on the Volga River to provide security of the northeastern boundaries of ancient Russia.
During subsequent centuries the city was involved into all dramatic events of the Russian history. Yaroslavl became the first faithful ally of Moscow in bringing the Russian lands together under the patronage of the ancient capital. The Yaroslavl principality was among the first ones to enter the Moscow State voluntarily.
City Population (2010) : 610,900

Yaroslavl
We visited Yaroslavl, Russia, as a port on the Viking Waterways of the Czars Cruise. This city 160 kilometers from Moscow had beautiful churches, a market, and theater as some of its attractions. Extraordinary handcrafted papier mache boxes are treasured souvenirs for the traveler. The murals in the Church of Elijah the Prophet are unrestored but in unbelievable condition. It is easy to traverse the World Heritage Site by foot. Parks with blooming flowers are a feast for the eye.

Russia: 'Russian football fans expect the best results' says Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin held his annual Direct Line Q&A with citizens of the Russian Federation in Moscow, Thursday, where he commented on the chances of the Russian men's national football team in upcoming competitions including the FIFA 2017 Confederations Cup and FIFA World Cup 2018
After discussing Russia’s preparation for the World Cup, the Russian leader was asked about the situation in Russian football. Putin acknowledged that the preparation of the rising generation of players receives little attention, adding that there are nevertheless positive trends, before naming a Krasnodar school for young football players created and headed by FC Krasnodar President Sergei Galitsky, as an example of positivity in the Russian game.
Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): Of course, Russian football fans expect the best results from our national team. When I ask global international experts – 'Will they play?' They reply – 'No. You have too many players from abroad while preparation of the rising generation of players receives little attention.' So, very little attention is paid to the development of children's and youth football. There are positive trends as well. Recently, I visited Krasnodar. Mr. [Sergei] Galitsky [President of FC Krasnodar] is doing a great job there. There is a private project, as you know, the stadium was built and the whole football school was created. So many wonderful boys train there. They not only play football. There are chess schools as well. Essentially, all the major clubs have adopted this system of training young football professionals. And if this continues, and I proceed from the fact that it will be so, then absolutely, we will have an effective national team who will cheer up the fans.

The Cherry Orchard
The Cherry Orchard is the last play by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov. It opened at the Moscow Art Theatre on 17 January 1904 in a production directed by Constantin Stanislavski. Although Chekhov intended it as a comedy, and it does contain some elements of farce, Stanislavski insisted on directing the play as a tragedy. Since this initial production, directors have had to contend with the dual nature of the play. The play is often identified on the short list of the three or four outstanding plays written by Chekhov along with The Seagull, Three Sisters, and Uncle Vanya.
The play concerns an aristocratic Russian woman and her family as they return to their family estate just before it is auctioned to pay the mortgage. While presented with options to save the estate, the family essentially does nothing and the play ends with the sale of the estate to the son of a former serf; the family leaves to the sound of the cherry orchard being cut down. The story presents themes of cultural futility – both the futile attempts of the aristocracy to maintain its status and of the bourgeoisie to find meaning in its newfound materialism. In reflecting the socio-economic forces at work in Russia at the turn of the 20th century, including the rise of the middle class after the abolition of serfdom in the mid-19th century and the sinking of the aristocracy, the play reflects forces at work around the globe in that period.

Why Bernie Sanders' Communist Misadventures Still Matter
Sanders no longer favors government takeover of the major means of production. But his four-decade quest for political revolution continues.

----------------
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I–Vt.) has spent his entire career explaining away the inevitable downsides of massively increasing the power of the state over the individual.
Sanders once identified as a socialist who, with reservations, admired the economic achievements of Cuba under Fidel Castro, of Nicaragua under the Sandinistas, and of the Soviet Union right up to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Running for office as a candidate for the Liberty Union Party in Vermont in the 1970s, Sanders sought a top tax rate of 100%, saying nobody should earn more than $1 million.
Sanders wanted to stop businesses from moving out of their original communities, arguing that the ultimate solution to protect workers was national legislation that would bring about the public ownership of the major means of production. He favored the government seizure of utilities, banks, and major industries, without compensation to investors or stockholders.
Shortly after he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont, in 1981, Sanders told a room full of charity workers, I don't believe in charities, because only the government should provide social services to the needy.
He traveled to Nicaragua in 1985 to meet Sandinista leaders, who had installed a socialist government after overthrowing an American-backed dictator. Sanders attended the sixth-anniversary celebration of the Sandinistas' revolution and praised Nicaraguan president Daniel Ortega.
In 1988, he visited the USSR, three years before it collapsed. After his trip, Sanders praised the Soviets' social and cultural programs, saying American leaders had much to learn from the communist system. In 1989, Sanders traveled to Cuba to seek a meeting with Fidel Castro—though he ended up settling for the mayor of Havana.
Today, Sanders calls himself a democratic socialist and has become a millionaire. He favors single-payer health care, free public college for all, and a $15 minimum wage. And he has distanced himself from some of his former positions in support of the Sandinistas and Castro, pointing instead to Nordic countries as examples to follow.
But one thing has remained constant as Sanders has shifted his focus from Nicaragua, Cuba, and the USSR to Denmark, Finland, and Sweden: In all of these countries, he's misled his followers about the political and economic realities on the ground.

1812. Napoleonic Wars in Russia. 3 Серия. StarMedia. Документальный Фильм. Babich-Design
The project is dedicated to one of the most remarkable and dramatic periods in history -- the Napoleonic Wars from 1803 to 1815. They were a continuation of the wars originally sparked off by the French Revolution of 1789 and threw Europe's armies into mobilization on an unprecedented scale. The Coup d'Etat on 9 November 1799 put France into the hands of a man endowed with a natural genius as a commander and almost unlimited ambition. The 'old order' of Europe was, at the time, in chaos and disunity, with governments operating independently of others, each engaged in the short-term pursuit of private gain and nationalist policies. These factors, together with the powerful army created by Napoleon, combined to make him lord of the European continent, part of his dream of creating a 'global monarchy', with France at its supreme head.

SUMMARY
=======
The Slavic Native Faith, also known as Rodnovery, is a modern Pagan religion. Classified as a new religious movement, its practitioners harken back to the historical belief systems of the Slavic peoples of Central and Eastern Europe. Rodnovery is a widely accepted self-descriptor within the community, although there are Rodnover organisations which further characterise the religion as Orthodoxy, Old Belief and Vedism.
Rodnovers typically regard their religion as a faithful continuation of ancient beliefs that survived as folk religion or as conscious double belief following the Christianisation of the Slavs in the Middle Ages. Rodnovery draws upon surviving historical and archaeological sources, folk religion and even non-Slavic sources such as Hinduism. Rodnover theology and cosmology may be described as pantheism and polytheism—worship of the supreme God of the universe and of the multiple gods, ancestors and spirits of nature identified through Slavic culture. Adherents usually meet together in groups to conduct religious ceremonies. These typically entail the invocation of gods, sacrifices and the pouring of libations, dances and a communal meal.
Rodnover ethical thinking emphasises the good of the collective over the rights of the individual. The religion is patriarchal, and attitudes towards sex and gender are generally conservative. Rodnovery has developed distinctive strains of political and identitary philosophy. Rodnover organisations often characterise themselves as ethnic religions, emphasising that the religion is bound to Slavic ethnicity. This often manifests as ethnic nationalism, opposition to miscegenation and the belief in the fundamental difference of racial groups. Rodnovers often glorify Slavic history, criticising the impact of Christianity in Slavic countries and arguing that these nations will play a central place in the world's future. Rodnovers share a strong feeling that their religion represents a paradigmatic shift which will overcome Western thought and what they call mono-ideologies.
The contemporary organised Rodnovery movement arose from a multiplicity of sources and charismatic leaders just at the brink of the collapse of the Soviet Union and spread rapidly by the mid-1990s and the 2000s. Antecedents are to be found in late 18th- and 19th-century Slavic Romanticism, which glorified the pre-Christian beliefs of Slavic societies. Active religious practitioners devoted to establishing Slavic Native Faith appeared in Poland and Ukraine in the 1930s and 1940s. Following the Second World War and the establishment of communist states throughout the Eastern Bloc, new variants were established by Slavic emigrants living in Western countries, being later introduced in Central and Eastern European countries after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In recent times, the movement has been increasingly studied in academic scholarship.
