Love and Adventure in Riviera Maya
Our journey of Love and Adventure was a celebration of our 1st Leap Year Wedding Anniversary. Along with a group of 40 of our family and friends WE celebrated the only way we know how, in style!
Our journey included a Mayan Ceremony vow renewal with a Mayan shaman. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Alux Restaurant ( located in a beautiful natural cavern right in Playa del Carmen.
WE also helped our friend Preston celebrate his 30th birthday with a private party at Indigo Beach ( It was a magical and intimate affair with waves lapping up onto the beach in front of us. This a great spot, day or night as they serve up fresh Nikkei sushi and ceviche.
No trip to Playa del Carmen would be complete without a trip to see the beachside ruins of Tulum. We lost count of the close encounters we had with the local population of iguanas. The only way to describe their home amongst the ruins is Breathtaking.
Our final day saw many in our group head out fishing with local fishing guides. I got to ride along with Captain Gilbert Vela and his wife Teri and friends Kathrine and Philip. The girls ended up showing the guys how to fish and reeled in the days catch. Afterward we head back over to Indigo Beach and the chef transformed our Grouper and Amberjack into scrumptious dishes that we shared with our group.
Of course no trip to Mexico is complete without listening to the sounds of a Mariachi band playing for you on a rooftop deck. The group we hired met us at our hotel and played for our group as they walked down the famous Quinta Avenida in Playa del Carmen. The crowd reactions were the highlight of the walk. The group played us all the way to the Palms at Playa hotel and rooftop lounge ( Once we arrived they continued to entertain the group as we partied under the setting sun.
Special thank you go out to everyone who helped make this trip so special and so much fun!

Yoga + playa, la combinación perfecta!
Stand up paddle board Cancun lessons (Cancun SUP)
For more info about this activity visit
Paddleboarding is an easy and fun sport to learn that combines great exercise with the outdoors. The sport is relatively easy to learn but it is definitely worth taking a class with an expert in order to learn proper technique and balance. The classes are taught at a paddleboard school run by a dedicated teacher and waterman who is passionate about what he does. The classes take place in the Cancun Bay which most of the year has relatively flat water that is perfect for learning how. After you master proper paddleboard technique then can enjoy cruising with your instructor in the bay. This a great expereince because it is a great way to get exercise that develops your core strength and at the same you are able to spend some time on the ocean while you work on your tan.
If you begin to get into paddleboarding it can be life changer because once you graduate to paddleboarding in the waves then there is no turning back because you will be hooked. But before you run little grasshopper you have to walk, and the walk is a lot of fun.
Mexico: Tulum Beach and Ruins - International Living
Tulum, Mexico, beach and ruins - International Living
Get your FREE report on Mexico here:
Not so long ago, Tulúm, Mexico, was a backpackers' haven. A small town beside one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Mexico, it was just far enough south of Playa del Carmen—about 40 miles—to be off the beaten path. There were a few hotels and beachside palapas for those who wanted to play beach bum.
No more. Today a four-lane highway connects Tulúm with Playa and Cancún, a new international airport is planned less than 20 miles away, and a new, sleek, tourist-oriented downtown called Aldea Zama is under way. New developments are going in, and real estate prices are rising.
Tulúm still retains its laid-back, slightly zen, eco-chic vibe... You still find yoga classes and massage centers, as well as inexpensive local restaurants in town. But you also find palapa-style accommodation with all the amenities (instead of the hammocks they used to offer), Bikini Boot Camp (at the Hotel Amandala), and trendy eats along the beach.
This is a great place to kick back. There's sun and warm, turquoise Caribbean waters offering swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and more. It also has some of the few Maya ruins that are near the ocean (see the video above). If you visit the ruins, consider taking a bathing suit--the admission fee also gives you access to the beach by the ruins. A little time in the Caribbean waters is a great way to end your culture tour on a hot day.
Inland, you'll find jungle and lots of cenotes for fresh-water swimming. (You can even dive in a few cenotes, entering the underground river system.) Enjoy zip-lining above the jungle canopy? You can find that, too.
And if you want to stay awhile, these days there are plenty of vacation rentals in Tulúm. Depending on the rental's location and the season, you can pay as little as about $50 a night for a small villa that sleeps two to four people. Realistically, however, many rentals are $150 or more a night for a double room, and $1,000 or more for a week's rental of a one- or two-bedroom. In high season (roughly December through February, the weeks around Easter, and July and August) rates can go even higher.
These prices aren't exactly chump change. So here are a few tips for getting the most bang for your buck.
Go while tourism is down
Mexico's overall tourism numbers are back up to 2008's heady levels. But from what I saw on a recent trip to Tulúm, tourism is still a bit slow there—at least for hotels that aren't part of all-inclusive packages. Almost all the hotels along Tulum's beach indicated that they had vacancies. Many also offered promotional rates—I saw two that offered rooms at $60 and $80 a night, respectively. Rate-wise, it also helped that this was low season...which brings us to the next tip...
Go during low season
Unless you've set your heart on spending Christmas by the beach, you can save big bucks by going earlier or much later. Surprisingly, Thanksgiving (which isn't celebrated in Mexico, of course) is low season. And November tends to be the coldest month in the Yucatán Peninsula—meaning that temperatures are generally in the 70s and 80s, with cool evenings: perfect weather for folks from snowy northern climes. Trade Christmas for Thanksgiving—and use the money you save on room rates for adventure excursions.
Negotiate
It never hurts to try negotiating on price. If a hotel is fully booked you'll be wasting your breath, of course. But if it's not—especially if it hasn't already posted a promotional rate—it may be open to a lower rate just to fill a room. Alternatively, if the hotel won't budge on rate, see if it will throw in a few bennies, like spa services, a room upgrade, or free cocktails. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Finally, if your resources are limited, visit Tulúm sooner rather than later. This area is targeted to become an upscale destination...so as even more amenities go in, the prices will likely only go up.

Demystifying Meditation in Mexico
Hey busy people ---Meditation might seem like this thing that only enlightened beings do. Nope! Humans just like us do it. Thoughts are never gonna stop. Can't control em. Can't control anything really as a matter of fact. All you can control is your reaction to them. Hence the meditation practice. Slow it all the F down ;)-

End of the Trail Mexican Hacienda!
VRBO #406217
Mexican Hacienda! Saltwater Pool, Hot Tub, Cabana & Roof Deck, Sprawling Grounds
The Unique Benefits at this House:
As a guest at The End of the Trail, you don't have to drive to go for a walk or hike in a beautiful spot, it's right out your door. I love the view from the pool! I love that we can use the home year-round and enjoy different aspects. The property is so large, you can easily spend all day there with friends or parents and not feel like you're on top of each other. I love that there is a play area for our kids and dog. I am looking forward to spending many happy days of my life, lounging on the roof deck and reading in that casita! I have always dreamed of having a home with pool and hot tub! October-November and February-March are 'said' to be the best time to go to the desert, also it's lovely in mid-late September and April-May. June-July-August can be over 100 degrees every day with August being the hottest month, although we have air conditioning and fans and we have the top of the line full pool mister system installed to help with the heat. December and January can be cooler at night but significantly warmer than northern climes and pleasant during daytime (think shorts or light slacks with a fleece sweater), affording wonderful time for tennis, golf and hiking, not to mention shopping and tourist attractions such as Joshua Tree, the Date Plantation, going olive oil tasting, to the limoncello cafe, tasting scrumptious foods at area restaurants and toasting (poolsafe glasses) in the hot tub. Sometimes there is wind or even a little rainshower, but are very popular months in the desert for northerners to escape colder temperatures. All months are mostly sunny!
La Quinta is one of the premier golf meccas of the United States. Thousands of miles of walking, hiking, biking out the front door. Lots of games on-site: croquet, soccer, badminton, paddleball, kids' books, water toys: the pool is so fun. Yoga teachers are available to teach on site (90 minutes on site incl mats, props, up to 5pp $150) or at the local studio, private Mexican chef for hire, house is on designated bike route, on Tour de Palm Springs route (can see the riders from garage roof), road biking, road cycling, mountain biking tours/lessons, 1 block to bus route ($0.50pp), farmer's market 5 minutes away, weekend art show 5 minutes, thousands of miles of hiking and mountain biking, playground 5 minutes, La Quinta Make Your Own Decorative Glass Jewelry workshops ~$35, Senior's Centre with activities and snacks, Library with Internet-Enabled Computer or bring laptop we have wifi.

El Dorado Maroma Review
Thanks for your interest in my video!
To get access to my full review of the El Dorado Maroma, CLICK THE LINK !
Hola everybody, it’s Burt Kramer, the Karisma Guy. Since you are watching this video, you’re probably looking for a review of the El Dorado Maroma in Riviera Maya, Mexico. You are in the right place. Stay with me to the end of this video, and I’m going to give you VIP access to my full reviews, plus all my videos, pictures, drone footage and even my exclusive 3D Virtual Reality Tours of this amazing resort. By the way, I have a short preview at the end of this video you’ll wanna see.
So, Patricia and I just got back from visiting the adult-only El Dorado Maroma. We first stayed here probably four years ago, and it’s gone through some major changes and updates in the past few years. In this review, I’m gunna cover some of these changes, but you really want to check out my full review to learn about all the new changes – use the link in the description to access that review.
When we stayed here the first time, we got a little spoiled as the owners of the resort upgraded us to the Villa Maroma. Now, Villa Maroma is 10,500 square-feet of pure luxury, with amazing ocean views, five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a full kitchen and dining room, a private pool and beach. Gorgeous. But I’m gunna save THAT review for another time.
See, El Dorado Maroma is a relatively small resort with just 157 deluxe suites. There’s twelve different room categories to choose from to best accommodate you on your vacation. Every intimate yet beautifully furnished suite offers a relaxing daybed on the balcony along with 24-hour room service.
As soon as you arrive at the resort, you are greeted with glass of chilled, sparkling wine, a cold hand towel and a full-service concierge. The El Dorado Maroma also offers some the amenities we have come to anticipate, such as nightly turndown service, a once-daily restocked mini bar, complimentary Wi-Fi, use of in-room security safe, and high-end toiletries.
The El Dorado Maroma prides themselves on their exquisite culinary cuisine, which can be found at now seven Karisma Gourmet Inclusive restaurants. Including Mexican, Caribbean, Asian, Peruvian, Italian, and international cuisine, you’ll never go hungry. You have to make sure that you check out Papito's Gourmet Beach Club which is literally right on the beach overlooking the breathtaking ocean! Enjoy an interactive culinary experience that features an open-style kitchen and a themed menu designed for every day of the week. They also have a pop-up fish market every Thursday featuring seafood that was caught that very morning. Trust me, it's not something you're going to want to miss!
Speaking of the beach… the greatest thing about this resort is the breathtaking white sands of Maroma Beach. Rated by the Travel Channel as one of the Top Ten Best Beaches, this one of the nicest beaches on the Yucatan Peninsula. Up and down the beach are ample lounge chairs, and Bali Beds with beach butlers service. Just a few steps away is Maroma Adventures where you can rent jet skis and speed boats, as well as kayaks and snorkel gear.
While on vacation, you can make sure you always have a refreshing, premium beverage in your hand, as the El Dorado Maroma offers five bars and lounges. Providing a laid-back, Caribbean atmosphere, this resort will have you relaxing in no time. Whether you are enjoying yoga or Spanish dancing classes, swimming with dolphins, horseback riding along the shore, or relaxing in one of the six grand pools there is plenty to do, or you can do nothing alt all.
The El Dorado Maroma just opened their brand new, multi-story, Naay Spa with an extensive spa menu to choose from, including sunrise couples' massages in a thatched-roof bungalow on the beach and holistic treatments derived from traditional Mayan remedies. They also have a complete beauty salon, perfect in preparation for a romantic night out with your significant other.
