Welcome to Lake Chatuge and the Mountains!
Lake Chatuge Real Estate - Hayesville Realty
Hello. My name is Ed Reams, and I'm the Owner/
Broker of Advantage Chatuge Realty here in
Hayesville, North Carolina. My staff and I would
like to welcome you to the beautiful mountain/
lakes region of western North Carolina and
northeast Georgia.
The crown jewel of our area is Lake Chatuge,
which you see behind me. It was named for an
century Cherokee village, which was once
18th
situated near this site. It's a very large lake, with
132 miles of shoreline -- and it covers more than
7,000 acres. Half the lake is located here in Clay
County, North Carolina, and the other half is
located just across the state line in Towns County,
Georgia.
Chatuge is a man-made lake, and was built in 1942
by the TVA... the Tennessee Valley Authority.
When the lake is at full pool during Spring and
Summer, its elevation is approximately 1,928 feet
above sea level.
As the off-season approaches, the TVA releases
a small amount of water and the lake level drops
a bit -- but is then brought back up to full pool the
following Spring.
There are several U.S. Wildlife Areas situated on
the lake, all of which are available for public use.
These Wildlife Areas have miles of hiking and
biking trails, boat launches, grills, picnic tables and
beaches.
Lake Chatuge is ideal for boating, swimming,
water skiing and fishing, and is conveniently
located within two hours' driving time of Atlanta,
Chattanooga and Asheville.
If you enjoy spending part of your outdoor time on
the links, you'll be pleased to learn that there are
three golf courses located within a 10 minute drive
of Lake Chatuge.
All of the courses are open to the public, and
they're all beautiful. Personally, I'm not much of
a golfer, but I have friends who are -- and many of
them insist that our local courses here are among
the most beautiful they've ever played.
Hayesville is the county seat of Clay County,
which was named for Henry Clay, the 18th
century Congressman, Senator and Secretary
of State under John Quincy Adams. Half the
county consists of pristine lands managed by the
U.S. Forest Service. These include a number of
National Wildlife Recreational Areas.
These are great spots to get together with family
and friends. There are hiking trails galore, picnic
tables and grills, and camping sites.
Some even offer miles of horseback riding trails...
creek-fed swimming holes, and large, natural
waterfalls.
If outdoor activities aren't your cup of tea, there
are plenty of indoor activities available to you.
For example, the John C. Campbell Folk School is
an internationally renowned institution where you
can take courses on everything from photography
to dancing to painting to blacksmithing.
Or, you can attend a presentation by one of our
local theater ensembles, dance troupes, or musical
groups.
Or, you can dine at one of our local restaurants
which -- personal opinion -- rival anything which
was available to us in metro Atlanta when we lived
there.
The quality of life here in the mountain/lakes
region is wonderful, and the lake is an ever-
changing palette of colors.
The daytime hours are filled with intense blues and
greens.
As we approach evening, the reds, oranges and
magenta's appear.
And sometimes in the early morning, the lake
sleeps beneath a layer of clouds.
Throw in a full moon for good measure, and
there's nothing quite like it.
I hope you've enjoyed this brief overview. If you
are considering purchasing property here, either
as a vacation home, a primary residence, or as an
investment, I hope you'll call me or one of our
agents; it would be our privilege to assist you in
your property search.
Thanks for joining us today.

Why Pressure Washing Is a Good Idea in Young Harris Ga.
Blairsville Pressure Washing,706-400-9824
Those of us that live in North Georgia and the surrounding Blairsville, Young Harris and Hiawassee area know what it’s like to deal with hot and cold and damp weather. It gets really hot, really cold, really wet and then really dry.
The weather is unpredictable! Power washing your home is the best way to get rid of mold, mildew, and stains on your home’s brick/wood patio or vinyl siding.
Take the first step to protecting your home by getting a free pressure washing estimate from Blairsville Pressure Washing Services today!
Pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, chewing gum and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces.
No finish will last long if it’s applied to a dirty surface. Pressure washing your home and deck is an important beginning step, and in some cases, it’s the only preparation you’ll need before refinishing or repainting.
Pressure washers are the single best tool for cleaning your home or deck and porch or anything you need to be cleaned and with the proper use, will extend the life of your property for many years.
This will safely remove dirt, mold, mildew and old stain
Removes many types of staining and discoloration using plain water
Safely strips old finishes including stains and peeling paint
Opens wood pores allowing deep penetration of the deck stain or finish.
Pressure washing can preserve the value of your property.
Your home’s exterior is exposed to a series of natural and man-made elements, such as sunlight, rain, wind, dirt, pollution, smoke, etc. These elements attack the exterior walls, eroding the paint system and causing it to crack, peel, and develop unsightly stains that negatively impact the curb appeal and value of a property.
Immediately Increase the Value of Your Home
If you’re planning to sell your home soon, pressure washing is an affordable and easy way to impress a potential buyer and boost your curb appeal. By removing that built up layer of dirt and grime with a simple pressure washing, you can drastically increase your home’s value to buyers and realtors.
According to the National Association of Realtors, pressure washing can increase the sale price by $5,000 to $10,000.
We visit each job for two reasons:
First is to get to meet face to face with our customers so we can answer in person all of your questions and explain our cleaning procedure yet if you are not home when we provide you with the estimate, we will leave your estimate in your doorway/mailbox.
Second is so that we can actually see the work that needs to be done and evaluate it. This allows us to know what to expect when the work starts and the customer can see what to expect after the job is done.

_Our Mission_
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
_Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release_
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
_Informing, Educating and Inspiring_
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
_Martin Tyner_
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.
_Cedar Canyon Nature Park_
The CCNP is 22.6 acres of beautiful canyon property donated by Pacificorp, in Cedar City, Utah. We are in the process of developing a permanent wildlife rescue facility and Nature Park for the children of Utah. Sitting on the transition point between the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin, the CCNP’s mission is focused on fostering appreciation, knowledge and wise stewardship of the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin environments, which include wildlife, botany, geology, history, and native culture.

The take off was a bit rough. We caught a good gust of wind right before we took the final few steps off the mountain - hence the hesitation before.
The beeping you hear is the variometer. A higher pitch means we are climbing, a lower pitch means we are falling.

Located on one of the handful of premier Lake Chatuge lots, this well-designed lake home boasts a private cove overlooking world-class 50-mile panoramic views of Shooting Creek, NC and Jack Rabbit State Park in the beautiful Nantahala National Forest. Fused with sensitivity to the site, the stunning landscape, the outdoor terrace with cascading waterfall, and 250 feet of shoreline, all work together to form the stylish lakeside entertainment area. The all-year, deep-water, maintenance-free 2-stall floating boat dock complete with party deck, has a covered sundeck, and 2 air lifts for large boats. On the street side, guests are greeted by the dramatic castle stone and stucco entrance way, and another charming waterfall.
Enter the two story foyer of this elegant 4 bedroom, 4 full and 2 half baths home to discover a classic antler chandelier with remote lowering for easy cleaning. Hunter Douglas blinds block the UV rays but keep the waterfall courtyard in view for constant scenery. The living room captures European flare with an antler chandelier, a fireplace framed with reclaimed barn wood and copper glass tiles. A convenient wet bar with wine cooler and large-capacity icemaker makes this room a hub for entertaining. As you move into the kitchen and the keeping room the stunning lake views become more vivid and breathtaking.
The gourmet kitchen provides the perfect space to prepare that special meal or just hang-out with a good conversation. Wide spaces between the island and the counter tops insure that several chefs can collaborate with ease. Kitchen amenities include custom cabinetry, granite countertops, a 6-burner Viking Professional gas range with griddle, convection and regular ovens, a built-in Viking microwave, a Viking warming drawer, a Kitchenaid refrigerator with 2 additional refrigerator drawers, 4 trash cabinets, a Bosch dishwasher and a walk in pantry. Down the hall toward the garage entrance you will find the laundry room and a half-bath.
The breakfast area captures the majestic mountain and lake views as you move into the intimate keeping room with travertine fireplace. Linger a while on the outside veranda with gas fireplace for the chilly evenings or early morning coffee as the full expansive view unfolds before you.
The separate formal dining room with ample seating for 12 or more follows the European decor with a tile facade fireplace accented again with the reclaimed barnwood, exposed beams and views of the outside waterfall courtyard.
Wake up in the master bedroom to that same glorious view or fall asleep by the glow of the gas fireplace. The cathedral ceiling with exposed beams gives this room a comfortable but elegant feel. Your dream master bath awaits you with its own fireplace, vanity seat, antler chandelier, vaulted ceiling, his-and-hers closets, and separate shower with steam. The jetted copper tub keeps that water warm while you relax in privacy and soak in the breathtaking views. An office completes the master wing.
Unwind in the terrace level with 12 foot ceilings, large antler chandelier, castle stone fireplace, pool table and kitchen area with gas stove, double sink, microwave and refrigerator. Enjoy a 12-seat home theater for watching your favorite movie or sports team on the big screen. Get your daily exercise in the work-out room with mirrored wall and antique glass chandelier. Other terrace rooms include a guest bedroom with cedar closet, full bath with travertine shower and granite vanity, a half bath, a second laundry room, and ample storage areas.
The foyer staircase leads to the upstairs two-bedroom suite. Savor your own private balcony framed by that spectacular view, or relax in the den with tinted windows, gas fireplace and wet bar with copper sink and refigerator. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom with travertine shower, granite vanity and walk-in closet.
