Street Food in Slovakia 2019, Fair in Slovakia, Radvanský jarmok Banská Bystrica. Bystrica.Banská Bystrica (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈbanskaː ˈbistritsa] (About this sound listen), also known by other alternative names) is a city in central Slovakia located on the Hron River in a long and wide valley encircled by the mountain chains of the Low Tatras, the Veľká Fatra, and the Kremnica Mountains. With 78 327 inhabitants, Banská Bystrica is the sixth most populous municipality in Slovakia.[1][2] The present town was founded by German settlers,[3] however it was built upon a former Slavic settlement. It obtained the municipal privileges of a free royal town of the Kingdom of Hungary in 1255. The copper mining town acquired its present picturesque look in the Late Middle Ages when the prosperous burghers built its central churches, mansions, and fortifications. It is the capital of the kraj (Banská Bystrica Region) and the okres (Banská Bystrica District). It is also the home of Matej Bel University. As a historical city with an easy access to the surrounding mountains, Banská Bystrica is a popular winter and summer tourist destination.
Banska Stiavnice (Slovakia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Banska Stiavnice in Slovakia.
Banská Štiavnica is one of the most beautiful cities in Slovakia and whose historic buildings form its mediaeval centre. The old town, and silver mines of the surrounding area, have been designated as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The Kammer-Hof was created by the combination of three Gothic buildings during the sixteenth century. Up until the nineteenth century, the mining chamber and the first technical university in the world were located there. The Church Of The Assumption Of Mary was built by the Dominican Order at the beginning of the thirteenth century. For the first time in this region a rib vault was raised in its construction and served as a model for further buildings. However, at the beginning of the nineteenth century the church burned down and was rebuilt in Classical style. Now its altars and paintings shine out in all their glory and highlight the deep religious faith of both miners and mine owners alike. Since 1971, the New Castle has been a museum. On one floor, musical instruments, household items and clothing. Another floor contains numerous weapons and suits of armour which were used during hostilities by the Turks. The city underwent troubled times and its prosperity had to be defended. The wealth of the city and its mining of silver made Banská Štiavnica wealthy and created its historical splendour.

VLOG 2 - DAY AT THE LEGITS BLAST FESTIVAL, BANSKA BYSTRICA, SLOVAKIA
The Legits Blast Festival is one of the top events in Europe with dancers from around the world competing in breakdance, hip-hop and house. We travelled to Slovakia, Banska Bystrica, a city just 30min drive from our howe-town (Brezno) with Zuzosa competing in hip-hop of course. The vibe was great yet competition was fierce, but we had a blast!
From bboys and bgirls, to traditional Slovak folklore dance and food of course, it's all there!

Slovakia Tourism Music Video Tour - Unravel Travel TV
The Capital of the Slovak Republic Bratislava, also referred to as the Beauty on the Danube can not only boast interesting history but it also is the centre of the most dynamically developing region of central Europe at present.
Slovakia is after Austria the second country in the middle Europe with the largest amount of forests? Almost 40% of its territory is covered by forest, while in Austria it is only 6% more.
Bratislava and Vienna are two closest located capitals in Europe. There is only less than 60 km between them. According to some sources, the European geographical central point is considered to be near the roman-catholic church of St. John the Baptist above the village of Kremnické Bane.
Slovakia has many winter resorts with beautiful natural views. Downhill skiers, snowboarders, free ride and free skiing devotees, ski-mountaineers, cross-country skiers but also little beginners in ski kindergartens can have their field day. If you cannot ski - it doesn´t matter - you can go sledging, try winter hiking, bobsled tracks or just frolic with children in snow. It is never late to begin.

Our visit Bratislava travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Slovak), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches, the old town and museums and Bratislava by night for ice hockey. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Bratislava tourism brochure, Bratislava itinerary or Bratislava, Slovakia city tour.
10 Things to do in Bratislava, Slovakia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
We're visiting Bratislava, Slovakia and in this video we're going to show you guys 10 things to do in Bratislava. Let's get started.
Our first stop was Devin Castle, which is located in Devin, a borough of Bratislava. This is the one attraction we visited that was a little further from the Old Town - a 30-minute bus ride.
Devin Castle is a ruined castle that sits on Slovak territory at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers.
We ate at a restaurant called “Modra Hviezda” which is located at the base of Bratislava Castle and feels like a cave.
Bratislava Castle was Built in the 9th century and modified over the centuries many times over, this 4-towered castle sits perched on a hill overlooking the Danube River.
You get nice views over the Old Town, plus you have the Slovak National Museum & the Baroque Gardens on the north side of the palace.
The following day, we set out to explore the Old Town and stopping cafe for a decadent breakfast.
Bratislava’s Old Town is compact & easy to explore on foot and cover most of the sights in one day. We went on our own do-it-yourself tour finding all sorts of interesting statues & landmarks.
The Blue Church is located on Bezručova Street, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Old Town designed in the art nouveau style.
Locals in Bratislava like to say that the best view of their city is from the UFO Bridge because you can’t see the UFO bridge. You get amazing views of Bratislava during sunset.
And while you’re down by the Danube, you can either enjoy a stroll along the river, or go on a sightseeing cruise.
Prašná bašta is another cozy restaurant located at basement level and we had another wonderful meal.
For sports fans be sure to check out a HC Slovan Bratislava ice hockey game. They play in the KHL and the level of hockey and entertainment value is fantastic.
And that’s a wrap for our trip to Bratislava. While we can see the appeal of doing this as a day trip from Vienna, we loved having the extra time to really enjoy the city, try out some great restaurants, and make it to some of the further attractions like Devin Castle. If you have a few days to spare, this is a great little capital to visit.
Any other things to do in Bratislava that we may have missed, feel free to share your suggestions with travellers in the comments below.
This is part of our Travel in Slovakia video series showcasing Slovak food (Slovakian food), Slovak culture (Slovakian culture) and Slovak cuisine (Slovakian cuisine).
