雨花台由3個山崗組成，頂部為平台。整個景區分為烈士陵園區、名勝古蹟區、雨花石文化區、雨花茶文化區、遊樂活動區和生態密林區六大塊，這裡不僅是旅遊勝地，也是南京市民休閒娛樂之所。烈士陵園區從北門或南門進入雨花台便是烈士陵園區，這裡曾是新民主主義革命烈士的殉難處，遇難人數多達10萬。廣場上有忠魂亭、紀念碑、烈士雕塑等建築。你會看到紀念碑下的長明燈，寓意烈士的死重於泰山。參觀烈士紀念館，可以看到從大革命至南京解放的各種史料文物。古蹟名勝區來到古蹟名勝區，可以看看著名的“江南第二泉”（即雨花泉），它有兩個泉眼，水出地面1米，詩人陸游曾以雨花泉水沏茶，如今這裡還有一家百年老店“二泉茶社”，有興致不妨在此品品茶。
