Guangzhou Travel Yuexiu District Info:
Yuexiu District is one of 11 urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, China, located west of the Tianhe District and east of the Liwan District. It is the commercial, political and cultural centre of Guangdong and noted for its high quality education. The Guangdong provincial government and the Guangzhou city government are both located in the Yuexiu District. Established in 1960, the district absorbed the former Dongshan District in May 2005 along with several former subdistricts of the Baiyun and Tianhe district.
Yuexiu is the historic center of the capital of the Nanyue Kingdom. Thirty-three years after the unification of Lingnan under Qin Shi Huang, which forced most of the Yue tribes out of Guangzhou, Yuexiu came under the administration of Panyu County in the Nanhai Commandery. Yuexiu District is named after Yuexiu Hill. Yuexiu was originally the seat of Panyu County until 15 February 1921 when Guangzhou was formally established carving parts of northern Panyu County to create Yuexiu along with Liwan which was eastern part of Nanhai County.
Dongshan in the eastern part of Yuexiu was a former suburb of Guangzhou. It was established as Dongshan District in 1960. On 28 April 2005, it was withdrawn and merged with Yuexiu.

A walk through Yuexiu Park in Guangzhou
Yuexiu Park is the largest park in downtown Guangzhou, covering an area of 860,000 square meters, it is made up of three artificial lakes and seven hills of Yuexiu Mountain.

This park is home to the 5 Ram sculpture. These 5 rams are the symbol of Guangzhou. The legend goes that the gods rode these rams into the area carrying sheaths of rice that were used to make the region fertile.

CHINA - Guangzhou - Liwan Lake Park
I just came from Nanning in China to Guangzhou by train.It was my 5th day in China. I wen to Liwan Lake park to chill as it was in walking distance from my guesthouse. I stayed in Alley Time Youth hostel. There are many parks in Guangzhou city just in a walking distance and you can also use mobike bicycles to go around for very cheap.

Taking shuttle around Yuexiu Park, Guangzhou, China
Being the rich tourists we are, we paid the $3 to ride the shuttle around the park. More common is to just walk up the hill, as you can see the many many people we pass.
