Road up Jade Dragon Snow Mountain 玉龙雪山 Lijiang Yunnan China
Jade Dragon Snow mountain is a must see when you are here in Lijiang. We took a car ride from the hotel in Suhe District and arrived at the base in an hour.
Then, we took a cable car up to the deck and walked the rest of the way up. The air is thin so we needed the oxygen canisters which we bought before we started the car journey.
It was well worth all the trouble. The views are spectacular, as the weather was excellent on that day. Later, the clouds came in and fogged up the view. Nothing left to see.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Yulongxueshan - 玉龙雪山
The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain lies about 30 minutes drive from Lijiang Old Town and is easily reached by minibus, taxi or as part of a day trip organised by one of the many travel agencies in Lijiang. The area around the mountain has been designated the Yulongshan Geological Park. Inside the park you can enjoy the scenery, see the Lijiang Impressions outdoor show or take one of three cable cars up the mountain. We chose to take the cable car to the highest viewing platform at approximately 4500 metres above sea level and then walk up to the top platform at 4636 metres or 15,200 feet. Oxygen and warm clothing is available if you need it, I guess it depends on your level of fitness and confidence in your own ability. Enjoy the video.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain 玉龙雪山
Glacier Park is located on the Shanzidou Peak. There are totally 19 oceanic glaciers on the peak, including hanging glaciers and cirque glaciers. White Water Number.1 is the most-visited glacier. It looks just like a hanging waterfall from the heaven seen from the foot of the peak. The iceberg forest on the glacier tongue looks like knifes piercing into the sky. In addition, there are some remnants of glaciations, including the Ganheba Valley, which is a typical Alps-style glacier valley. Tourist can take a cableway to the Glacier Park. The cableway to the glacier park is the one of the heist elevation in Asia with a length of 2914 meters and a vertical drop of 1150 meters. After walking out of the cableway, tourists can walk to the highest viewing platform of the mountain (4591 meter above sea level).
