The Zagreb Funicular connects the Upper and Lower town and with the 64-second long ride makes it the shortest public-transport funicular in the world.
The Zagreb Funicular (Croatian: Zagrebačka uspinjača) is the funicular in Zagreb operated by ZET, situated in Tomić Street, connecting the Ilica Street (Donji Grad) with Strossmayerovo šetalište (Strossmayer promenade) to the north (Gornji Grad). Its 66-metre (217 ft) track makes it one of the shortest public-transport funiculars in the world. The funicular was built in 1890 and has been in operation since April 23, 1893. Initially it had steam engines, which were substituted with electrical engines in 1934.
Having in mind that it kept its original shape, constructional and most of the technical properties, it was given legal protection as a monument of culture.
It has two cars for 28 passengers each (16 seated and 12 standing places).

This is by far one of our favourite Airbnb’s in Croatia and Europe as a whole. We loved the location of this place, it was just a 10-15 minute drive away from the city centre. Beautiful and spacious living room and kitchen. The office and deck were an awesome bonus too and really added to the atmosphere of the house. The window shutters worked in our favour blocking out all the light for a good nights rest. And not to forget the party lights, they give the house some quirkiness. For the price, you pay we think it’s great value and we can highly recommend staying here if you are in Zagreb, Croatia. This apartment was just great!

Today I went to explore the old city of Zagreb Croatia. It was 10 minutes walk from Hostel Temza to the Central square. Saw Ban Josip Jelačić statue, Zagreb cathedral and walked to Dolac Market. Then, I went to St Mark's church which is a top tourist attraction. After that, I went to a restaurant called Purgur which was recommended by the hostel to try local cuisine. I ordered beef stew and a beer which cost total of $18 USD. Zagreb Walking Tour | The Lotrščak Tower - Upper town | Top-rated tours & Day Trips
The Lotrščak Tower (Kula Lotrščak) is a fortified tower located in Zagreb, Croatia, in an old part of town called Gradec or Gornji grad (Upper Town). The tower, which dates to the 13th century, was built to guard the southern gate of the Gradec town wall.
The name is derived from Latin campana latrunculorum, meaning thieves' bell, referring to a bell hung in the tower in 1646 to signal the closing of the town gates.
The Grič cannon (Grički top) is one of the Zagreb landmarks. In the 19th century, a fourth floor and windows were added to the tower and a cannon was placed on the top. Since 1 January 1877, the cannon is fired from the tower on Grič to mark midday.
The cannon was to give the sign for exact noon for the bell-ringers of the city's churches.

A walking tour of Dubrovnik seemed like the best way to learn about the old town, the city history, the walls and castle development and just how the old town came to be. We weren't wrong. Beyond the Game of Thrones fame, Dubrovnik has an incredible past.
History ranging from attacks, bombs, fires and more have shaped the city of Dubrovnik to where it is today. This tour was only an hour long and gave us so much insight into Croatia as a whole, while also providing a great tour of the Dubrovnik town inside the walls as well.
This is day 3 of our Sail Croatia Explorer Cruise and we LOVE IT! We were docked in the Dubrovnik Port, well actually it's Port Gruz, and made our way in to the city for one of the optional excursions provided by Sail Croatia.

PLITVICE to ZAGREB - Croatia Travel Vlog Day 6 [ENG subs]
Day 6 of our Croatia Travel: Plitvice to Zagreb (mostly an eating vlog in Zagreb)
We stayed at:
- Airbnb: Private room. City center. Great location! (Zagreb). The room we rented was very close to the city center and it was a awesome stay. The host Stanka was so nice to us and we liked sharing our stories! Great recommendation!
We ate at:
- Gyoza Sake & Bar: We looked it up on TripAdvisor and it had quite high rating so we decided to go for it. We were so cheerfully and warmly welcomed by the boss lady, we thought to ourselves that was the best customer service we had since the start of the journey (Yes we noticed most of the people we talked to were a little cold, maybe because there's too many tourists). We had some gyoza (4/5), fried chicken (5/5), Beef curry (4/5), Japanese Burger (3.5/5). It's a great place to eat especially because the owner took good care of us and the food is home-made and delicious!
- Mundoaka StreetFood: an affordable tapas-like restaurant that you'll eat your fill. I always think you never eat your fill in a tapas restaurant or it's very expensive to do so. We were pleasantly surprised as we started to dig in this long wooden board of delicacies: Grilled Chicken thighs (5/5), Roasted Potatoes (4/5), Kafta Wraps (5/5) and veggies.

Zagreb is an important tourist centre, not only in terms of passengers travelling from the rest of Europe to the Adriatic Sea, but also as a travel destination itself. Since the end of the war, it has attracted close to a million visitors annually, mainly from Austria, Germany and Italy. However, the city has even greater potential as many tourists that visit Croatia skip Zagreb in order to visit the beaches along the Croatian Adriatic coast and old historic Renaissance cities such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Zadar.

I spent much of the day today wandering through the streets of Zagreb, taking in the sights and smells, and listening to the ever-changing sounds from various buskers on street corners.
