Highway 9 through Zion National Park Utah, the best scenic road in the USA
The Zion Mt. Carmel Highway (SR-9 or HWY 9), the road in and through Zion National Park is one of the most scenic highways one can drive or (even better) ride on.
It is hard to keep your eyes on the road with so much beautiful scenery.
The movie takes you through the whole park, entering at the East entrance and exiting at the south entrance. It takes only 22 minutes to ride through this national park.
One of the best roads I have ever seen.

Zion National Park Bike Riding / Bicycling – A Bike Ride Down Zion Canyon
Zion Canyon in Zion National Park is a spectacular bike ride!
You can catch the free shuttle bus up the canyon and then ride down. There are bike racks on the front of the bus.
The ride down the canyon goes up and down a bit but is mostly down hill. Vehicle traffic during most of the year is restricted - only shuttle buses and a few other vehicles are allowed in the upper part of the canyon. When you get to the lower part of the canyon, there is a bike trail - the Pa' rus trail.
Zion Narrows bike ride. We take the bus all the way up Zion Canyon to the end of the road near where the Narrows in Zion Canyon begin. We then ride all the way down Zion Canyon.

Zion National Park: 10 Things to Know Before You Go
Things YOU need to know before YOU go to Zion National Park in Utah. Zion National Park is big… 229 square miles! Zion's perpendicular cliffs are nearly 3,000 feet high. Unlike other canyon parks - where many visitors view the canyons from their rims - Zion draws visitors to its floor. Elevation: Lowest 3,666 ft and a high elevation of 8,726 ft at Horse Ranch Mountain.
Admission is for a week
$35 per vehicle
$20 per pedestrian
Getting In:
Zion is located in the South west corner of Utah.
The closest major airports are:
150 Miles from Las Vegas
Or 300 Miles from Salt Lake City
Driving time that’s about 3 hours from Vegas, 4.5 hours from Salt Lake City, or 8 hours from Los Angeles
There’s a couple of other small airports closer by, Saint George is just 49 miles from the park, and Cedar City is 60 miles
In the high season Summer & WInter Holidays, you have to take a shuttle in to the park, so you have to park your car in Springdale.
If you want to drive your car in, most people recommend getting in by 10am before all the lots fill up.
Getting Around:
Springdale operates a shuttle service within the town to take you from your parking lot or hotel to the park entrance.
The NPS operates another shuttle that runs on the scenic drive in the park making 9 stops.
Visitor Information
There are 2 visitor centers, the main one in Springdale, and another, the Kolob Canyon Visitor Center is located off of Interstate 15 at the west entrance of the park
Lodging
4 options in the park
3 Campgrounds -- only the Watchman Campground is open year round
1 Hotel, the Zion Lodge -- in 2019 it’s about $220 a night
Reservations for the Lodge can be made up to 13 months in advance. Starting with the 1st of each month, the calendar opens for that whole month in the following year. The Lodge books quickly
But tons of hotels just outside the park in Springdale.
You can also stay in St. George which is about a 45 minute drive from the park.
What to bring:
Everything you need to be in a canyon for day, at least water, sunscreen. You can refill your water in the park at the Zion Lodge, Campgrounds, or Visitors Centre.
And if you’re hungry, the Zion Lodge serves breakfast and dinner… or pack a picnic from the supermarket in Springdale.
Food:
Rositas in Springdale -- pretty good Santa Fe Style Mexican food
Subway:
Yes -- Zion has a subway! But it’s not a mode of transportation - it’s a hiking trail! It’s so popular, it requires permits in advance that are gained through a lottery. And it’s hard! Think rappelling with 60 feet of rope, and swimming through cold murky water!
When to go:
The park is open year round. Most visitors come during Spring and Fall. Campgrounds March-October. There are fewer visitors December - March (with the exception of Christmas break).
What to do besides hiking:
Backpacking
Bicycling
Birding
Camping
Canyoneering
Climbing
Horse Back Riding
Ranger Led Activities
River Trips
RIde a bike
Stargazing and the Sunset
And finally
Shopping -- there’s a little gift shop at the Visitor Center

Zion National Park SW - Scenic Drive - May 2016
Zion National Park is such a special place and spectacular in so many different ways, it's unbelievable... This HD scenic drive video was captured with my windshield mounted ION action camera during the first seven minutes after entering to the National Park from South. The valley is very scenic, colorful and surrounded with very sharp peaks...

ZION AND BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARKS IN ONE DAY!
We only had one day in Zion National Park before we had to head to Bryce Canyon National Park, so we did a quick driving tour and then headed up into the canyon to do lunch and a quick hike to the Emerald Pools. I think the kids liked the drive the best. :)
Then, we were off to Bryce Canyon National Park for a couple days. Grabbed dinner at the Bryce Canyon Lodge and hiked out to the canyon rim to see the hoodoo for the first time. It was truly breath-taking!
Bryce Canyon National Park
Bryce Canyon National Park /ˈbraɪs/ is a National Park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).
The Bryce Canyon area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon became a National Monument in 1923 and was designated as a National Park in 1928. The park covers 35,835 acres (55.992 sq mi; 14,502 ha; 145.02 km2) and receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, largely due to its remote location.
Zion National Park
Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern United States, near Springdale, Utah. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to half a mile (800 m) deep, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest elevation is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest elevation is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park's unique geography and variety of life zones allow for unusual plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bat), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park's four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest. Zion National Park includes mountains, canyons, buttes, mesas, monoliths, rivers, slot canyons, and natural arches.
The geology of the Zion and Kolob canyons area includes nine formations that together represent 150 million years of mostly Mesozoic-aged sedimentation. At various periods in that time warm, shallow seas, streams, ponds and lakes, vast deserts, and dry near-shore environments covered the area. Uplift associated with the creation of the Colorado Plateaus lifted the region 10,000 feet (3,000 m) starting 13 million years ago.

A Drive Around Zion National Park in the Snow!
I was fortunate enough to visit Zion National Park during some very snowy days in late January 2017. This was my first full day in the park, and I got to see some pretty significant snowfall throughout the day -- with a good bit falling on the higher-elevation east side of the park, along Utah Route 9. This drive takes you out to the end of the park on the East side, then back into the canyon.
MyDrivelapse.com and Takemytrip.com provide driving videos and stories to help you plan your trip. Check out hundreds of videos on my YouTube channel. Subscribe if you like it! Dozens of new videos are on the way in the coming weeks.
I made this trip in late January 2017. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

The narrows zion national park, 4K, Utah, USA
The Zion Narrows route is the most popular hike in Zion Park, and one of the world's best canyon hikes. It is pure fun and can be tailored to suite any ability level. The trail is the Virgin River. Plan on being wet. In fact, the cool water makes this hike particularly pleasant during the hot months of summer.
Most people hike in casually from the bottom, going as far as they feel comfortable or have time and then turning back. Serious hikers start at the top and do the entire 16 miles as a long day hike or an overnight backpack. (Permits are required if you start at the top.)
Plan on spending 60% of your time in the water and the remaining time walking on the riverbank. For most of the hike the water is less than knee-deep, but there is always the chance you'll step into a pool that is waste-deep or deeper. The longest exposure to waist-deep water is usually only about 20 yards.
Location: Zion Canyon
Difficulty: Easy to strenuous
Length: Variable, up to 16 miles
Weather: Hiking is not permitted when the river is high from runoff or flash flooding. Runoff mostly occurs in April and early May. Late summer thunderstorms occasionally produce flooding. Check at the visitor center for current conditions. Hiking is usually very pleasant during summer and fall. Few people hike during winter and spring, when the water is cold, but some go in wearing wet or dry suits.

Scenic drive at Zion National Park,Utah, USA
Zion national park is geographically located in Utah State of the USA. This was our one of the most scenic road trips which will be remembered forever and we always recommend our friends to visit if they are planning to visit the western provinces of USA. We drove from Las Vegas strip to Zion national park. It took almost 3 hours to reach to the entrance of Zion national park.
A $30 entrance fee is charged for all private vehicles. Park also has a free shuttle bus service. It is indeed one of the most amazing parks to ride a bike on its systematically constructed roads. One wishes to take stopovers at various points inside to enjoy the unique beauty of nature.
Zion national park has many breathtaking views at various points throughout the journey. Beautifully formed tunnels is also one of its features. At times, just before tunnels, traffic moves very slowly but it gives an added advantage of having sufficient time provided to tourist to take some beautiful snaps and enjoy colorful views of the park.
Visit to both the ends of this park is must, as every part of this park has its own exclusivity which could be experienced only by covering the entire park.
There are many hotels in the vicinity of Zion National park at Springdale if somebody wishes to stay close.
