Hello my peeps!
Mudnut59 and I took a day trip up to Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flat in Arizona. There were plenty of things to see and the views were spectacular! Join us on this little adventure and see for yourself what I am taking about.
From Wikipedia on Tortilla Flat...
Tortilla Flat is a small unincorporated community in far eastern Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is located in the central part of the state, northeast of Apache Junction. It is the last surviving stagecoach stop along the Apache Trail. According to the Gross Management Department of Arizona's main U.S. Post Office in Phoenix, Tortilla Flat is presumed to be Arizona's smallest official community having a U.S. Post Office and voter's precinct. The town has a population of 6. Tortilla Flat can be reached by vehicles on State Route 88, via Apache Junction.
Originally a camping ground for the prospectors who searched for gold in the Superstition Mountains in the mid-to-late 19th century, Tortilla Flat was later a freight camp for the construction of Theodore Roosevelt Dam. From this time (1904) on, Tortilla Flat has had a small (less than 100 people) but continuous population. A flood in 1942 badly damaged the town, resulting in many residents moving away. Today Tortilla Flat is owned and operated by Alvin Ross, a farmer from Indiana who purchased the town in 1998. The town is made up primarily of a small store and restaurant, which were constructed in the late 1980s after a fire consumed the existing store and restaurant on the same site. Several hiking trails into the Superstition Mountains begin near Tortilla Flat.
Give this a THUMPS UP and let me know what YOU think in the comments below.
Until I see you again...
Cheers,
Scott

Canyon Lake Az
Canyon Lake is one of four reservoirs that were formed by the damming of the Salt River in the U.S. state of Arizona.
The lake was formed by the Mormon Flat Dam, which was completed in 1925 after two years of construction. Canyon Lake, with a surface area of 950 acres (380 ha), is the third and smallest of four lakes created along the Salt River. Two others, Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake, are upstream. The fourth, Saguaro Lake, is downstream.
Canyon Lake lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) up the Apache Trail from Apache Junction, Arizona and 51 miles (82 km) east of Phoenix. It is within the Superstition Wilderness of Tonto National Forest and is a popular recreation area for the Phoenix metropolitan area. Recreation amenities include hiking trails, camping, and boating, all managed by the United States Forest Service. Canyon Lake is a popular stop along the Apache Trail route from Apache Junction, Arizona, passing Tortilla Flat, Arizona, before reaching Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake behind Theodore Roosevelt Dam.

Apache Trail Route 88 Dirt Road Arizona
This road is near Phoenix and is one of the recommended tourist viewing roads. The road goes along nicely as you go East and up to the apex. After that, towards the Roosevelt Dam, things get dicey as the road turns into a dirt road, has little protection of falling over the edge, has a steep slope and is very narrow. It is very rare to put an automatic car into second gear but I did. Otherwise, it is a hoot as Johnson and I found out. A 2-dimensional movie hardly does it justice but I hope you like it in High Definition.
