Xianghu - Let the Water Move You
Everyone has heard of Westlake; it’s even on the back of the 1 yuan Chinese bank note. Few people, however, could name the second largest body of water in Hangzhou, the beautiful Xianghu Lake. You can find it at the last stop of the subway line 1, and even if you spend a whole day walking around it, you still won’t see all of it.

The world-famous Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is an ancient grandeur project in the Eastern Plains. It is the earliest and longest manmade watercourse in the world. With an overall length of 1794 kilometers, the ancient Grand Canal started in Beijing in the north and reached Hangzhou in the south, flowing through 4 provinces and 2 cities of Beijing City, Hebei Province, Tianjin City, Shandong Province, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province, and linking up the river systems of Haihe River, Yellow River, Huai River, Yangtze River and Qiantang River. In the long history, the Grand Canal has made enormous contribution to the communication between North China and South China in both economy and culture.

Shanghai Trip Day 1 - Hangzhou, Grand Canal of China!
The #Acevengers are back at it again with our annual holiday trip! And this time, we are going to Shanghai, China!
Or flight from KUL (Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2) departs at 8.00AM to HGH (Hangzhou International Airport).
We arrived at approximately 1.00PM and we head straight to The Grand Canal of China for it’s river cruise. Apparently it’s a place where materials are transported, but back in ancient China, it held more significance.
My battery died when we were going to our next destination, which was the Xiang Ji Temple, a famous temple during the Tang Dynasty.
We settled at the hotel called C.Straits (chinese name: Liang’an Hotel) and we walked around to see what does it’s nightlife has to offer.

Boat trip on Grand Canal in Suzhou, China
Take a boat trip on the Grand Canal of China in Suzhou and learn the local life of China.
The Grand Canal of China, also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the longest ancient canal or artificial river in the world. The oldest parts of the canal date back to the 5th century BC, although the various sections were finally combined into one during the Sui Dynasty (581618 AD). The total length of the Grand Canal is roughly 1,770 km (1,114 miles). Its greatest height is reached in the mountains of Shandong, at a summit of roughly 42 m (138 ft). Ships in Chinese canals did not have trouble reaching higher elevations after the pound lock was invented in the 10th century (during the Song Dynasty). The canal's size and grandeur won it the admiration of many throughout history, including the Japanese monk Ennin (794864), the Persian historian Rashid al-Din (12471318), and the Korean official Choe Bu (14541504). Historically, periodic flooding of the adjacent Yellow River threatened the safety and functioning of the canal. During wartime the high dikes of the Yellow River were sometimes deliberately broken in order to flood advancing enemy troops. This caused disaster and prolonged economic hardships. Despite temporary periods of desolation and disuse, the Grand Canal furthered an indigenous and growing economic market of China's urban centers throughout the ages since the Sui.

China's Grand Canal, Ancient Wonder Still In Use
After the Great Wall, the Grand Canal ranks as the second most fantastic building project of early Chinese emperors. Surviving Grand Canal waterways are suitable for cargo boats run by Chinese families, where the sailors are husbands, wives and children.
