Tayport, also known as Ferry-Port on Craig, is a town and burgh, and parish, in the county of Fife, Scotland, acting as a commuter town for Dundee. The motto of the Burgh is Te oportet alte ferri , a pun on Tayport at auld Tay Ferry. Tayport lies close to the north east tip of Fife. To the north it looks across the River Tay to Broughty Ferry and Broughty Castle. To the east is the vast Tentsmuir Nature Reserve, an area of forested dunes measuring some 3 km from east to west and 6 km from north to south and edged by wide sands that continue all the way round to the mouth of the River Eden. 1. Falkirk Wheel Falkirk
The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in central Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The lift is named after Falkirk, the town in which it is located. It reconnects the two canals for the first time since the 1930s. It opened in 2002 as part of the Millennium Link project. The plan to regenerate central Scotland's canals and reconnect Glasgow with Edinburgh was led by British Waterways with support and funding from seven local authorities, the Scottish Enterprise Network, the European Regional Development Fund, and the Millennium Commission. Planners decided early on to create a dramatic 21st-century landmark structure to reconnect the canals, instead of simply recreating the historic lock flight. Christmas Lights City Chambers Bridge Street Dunfermline Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland video of the Christmas outdoor lights by the City Chambers on Bridge Street on ancestry visit to Dunfermline, Fife. This Scottish building was built during the period from 1875 to 1879, and was created by James C Walker who also designed the first Carnegie Library. It employs a harmonious composite of French, Gothic and Scots baronial architectural styles and features a prominent four face clock tower. It was constructed on the site of an older Town House of 1771 which was in its turn built to replace the 17th century Town House, demolished as part of 18th century improvements to make way for Bridge Street.

Dungeness Old & New Lighthouses, September 2014

This video documents the two fascinating lighthouses at the headland of Dungeness in Kent filmed on 1st September 2014. I have had a lifelong interest in intresting buildings and structures, and had wanted to see these two lighthouses for a long time. The Dungeness New Lighthouse is the first lighthouse to be shown in this video and this was opened in 1961 by the Duke of Gloucester. This tower unusually rises from a concrete base in the form of a spiral ramp, and is now an automatic lighthouse (since 1991).

The second lighthouse to be shown is Dungeness' original Old lighthouse, opened in 1904. This grade II listed building is open to the public and stands around 150ft tall, with spectacular views across the English channel. This lighthouse was decommissioned in 1960 after which it was replaced in functioning by the new lighthouse a few hundred yards away.

Culross West Fife Scotland

Tour Scotland video of photographs of Culross on visit to West Fife. The major USA TV series Outlander has recently been shooting in Culross, Fife This Scottish originally served served as a port city on the Firth of Forth and is believed to have been founded by Saint Serf during the 6th century. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the town was a centre of the coal mining industry. Sir George Bruce of Carnock, who built the splendid 'Palace' of Culross and whose elaborate family monument stands in the north transept of the Abbey church, established at Culross, the first coal mine in the world to extend under the sea, in 1575. Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald spent much of his early life in Culross, where his family had an estate. There is now a bust in his honour outside the Culross Town House. He was the first Vice Admiral of Chile. A small selection of my personal photographs shot on small group tours of Scotland.

Short video taken from ‪‎Dundee‬ Waterfront along the Tay Rail Bridge then back across The Tay Road Bridge, which span the estuary of the River Tay at the North Sea between Dundee and Newport-on-Tay, ‎Scotland‬. The Tay Road Bridge celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2016 and is one of the longest road bridges in ‪Europe‬.
