Kumbhalgarh Fort - Rajasthan - India (Best travelling and tourist place )
Kumbhalgarh is a Mewar fortress in the Rajsamand District of Rajasthan state in western India. Built during the course of the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, and enlarged through the 19th century, Kumbhalgarh is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the great king and warrior of Mewar. Occupied until the late 19th century, the fort is now open to the public and is spectacularly lit for a few minutes each evening. Kumbalgarh is situated 82 km northwest of Udaipur by road. It is the most important fort in Mewar after Chittaurgarh.
Kumbhalgarh fort is now listed in UNESCO World Heritage list. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have also selected 5 another forts of rajasthan in this list and they are : Amber fort Chittorgarh fort Gangron fort Jaisalmer fort Ranthambhore fort.
Kumbhalgarh Fort is the second most important fort of Rajasthan after Chittorgarh. Located at a distance of 64 kms from Udaipur in Rajasmand district, Kumbhalgarh Fort is easily accessible from the city of Udaipur. This unconquerable fortress is secured under the kind protection of the Aravali ranges. Kumbhalgarh Fort was built by Maharana Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. The fort derived its name from the same factor.

Ranakpur is a village located in Desuri tehsil near Sadri town in the Pali district of Rajasthan in western India. It is located between Jodhpur and Udaipur. 162 km from Jodhpur and 91 km from Udaipur, in a valley on the western side of the Aravalli Range. The Nearest Railway Station to reach Ranakpur is Falna Railway station. Ranakpur is one among the most famous places to visit in Pali, Rajasthan. Ranakpur is easily accessed by road from Udaipur.
Along with magnificent architecture and numerous pillars, the place is also famous for large population of monkeys that live in and around the place.

So finally our plan was executed well and we visited Kumbhalgarh fort in this monsoon.

- We started our journey at 8.30 am from our hometown Nathdwara located in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan state.
- Distance between Nathdwara to Kumbhalgarh is around 51km.
- We reached our destination at 11 am (Delayed by 1 hour due to rain).
- We parked our two-wheelers for 10 Rs/two wheeler
- We paid 25 Rs/person as an entry fee.
- We enjoyed a lot in the fort and then finally we got out at 4.30 pm.

Kumbhalgarh is one of the famous fortresses in Rajasthan, India. Kumbhalgarh is around 84km from Udaipur. There are very few public transport to visit Kumbhalgarh, so we have to rely on private vehicles or tour operators.
Kumbhalgarh was built by Mewar dynasty in 15th century. Mewar Kings used this fort as a safe haven during war times. Kumbhalgarh is also the birthplace of Maharana Pratap, the great king and warrior of Mewar. On Architectural stand point, every single structure inside the fort, shows you the strategic and tactical importance of its presence. In 2013 Kumbhalgarh was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan.
Kumbhalgarh also has Worlds 2nd longest wall after, The Great Wall of China, The wall is about 38km long at the same time, it is also very tall and wide. The prime motive of the wall was to defend fort, from any foreign attack. Another advantage Kumbhalgarh has is its location; it is located in deep forest and hills of Aravalli mountain range. This makes very difficult for any foreign king to locate and destroy the fort.
Though it’s not a big tourist destination but at the same time you should not miss out the history and epicenes of the Kumbhalgarh fort, and if you come here, you should get a local guide, they have many amazing stories to tell.
Now apart from the Fort and the Wall, there is not much to see at Kumbhalgarh. But there are some luxuries resorts around Kumbhalgarh, and they provide most satisfying get away from your busy routine life. Kumbhalgarh could be an extension of your Udaipur trip as its nearby from Udaipur.
