It is located on the northern channel of the Amazon River near its mouth on the Atlantic Ocean. The city is on a small plateau on the Amazon in the southeast of the state of Amapá.

A Região Norte é uma das cinco regiões do Brasil definidas pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) em 1969. Com uma área de 3 853 676,948 km² - a maior entre as cinco regiões - cobre 45,25% do território nacional, sendo superior à área da Índia e pouco inferior à União Europeia. Sua população, também de acordo com o Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), era de 18,1 milhões de habitantes em 2018, equivalente à população do Chile. Seu Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH), de 0,683 é considerado médio e, em comparação com as outras regiões brasileiras, tem o segundo menor IDH, superando apenas a Região Nordeste.
A região é formada por sete estados, sendo estes: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima e Tocantins. Suas maiores e principais cidades são Manaus e Belém, as únicas na macrorregião que possuem população superior a um milhão de habitantes. Porto Velho, Macapá, Palmas, Rio Branco, e Boa Vista são outros importantes centros regionais. Ela está localizada na região geoeconômica da Amazônia, entre o Maciço das Guianas (ao norte), o planalto Central (ao sul), a Cordilheira dos Andes (a oeste) e o oceano Atlântico (a nordeste). O clima predominante na região é o equatorial, além de algumas regiões de clima tropical. A região é dominada por um importante ecossistema para o planeta: a Amazônia. Registram-se, também, pequenas faixas de mangue no litoral, alguns pontos de cerrado e também alguns pontos de matas galerias. A latitude e o relevo explicam a temperatura. A temperatura e os ventos explicam a umidade e o volume dos rios. O clima e a umidade somados são responsáveis pela existência da mais extensa, variada e densa floresta do planeta, ou seja, a Floresta Amazônica.
A região abriga os dois maiores estados em território no país, Amazonas e Pará. Além destes, os dez maiores municípios em área territorial (quatro no estado do Pará e seis no estado do Amazonas), também estão situados na Região Norte. Outros feitos também são congratulados, como a capital brasileira com maior área, Porto Velho, o segundo rio mais extenso do mundo, Rio Amazonas, e o ponto culminante do Brasil, o Pico da Neblina.

A cidade de Santarém é entreposto comercial, e cercada de atrativos turísticos, como Alter do Chão, Belterra, praias do rio Tapajós, Floresta Nacional do Tapajós e Reserva Extrativista Tapajós Arapiuns.
Os visitantes consideram Santarém uma cidade boa para viver e morar. Na opinião deles, a cidade é de porte médio e, portanto, não sofre dos males dos grandes centros, como o trânsito caótico. Além do mais, em seu entorno, existem ótimos atrativos turísticos, o que dão ao morador do lugar a condição de usufruir dos recursos naturais com baixo custo financeiro.
Santarém é um importante polo (centro) universitário da região Norte, pois atrai estudantes de todos os estados do Brasil. Esse detalhe contribui bastante para a dinamização da economia local.

The Caribbean is a region that consists of the Caribbean Sea, its islands (some surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and some bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean) and the surrounding coasts. The region is southeast of the Gulf of Mexico and the North American mainland, east of Central America, and north of South America.
Situated largely on the Caribbean Plate, the region comprises more than 700 islands, islets, reefs and cays. These islands generally form island arcs that delineate the eastern and northern edges of the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean islands, consisting of the Greater Antilles on the north and the Lesser Antilles on the south and east (including the Leeward Antilles), are part of the somewhat larger West Indies grouping, which also includes the Lucayan Archipelago (comprising the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands). The Lucayans and, less commonly, Bermuda, are also sometimes considered Caribbean despite the fact that none of these islands border the Caribbean Sea. In a wider sense, the mainland countries, regions, and territories of Belize, the Caribbean region of Colombia, Cozumel, the Yucatán Peninsula, Margarita Island, the Guyanas (Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Guayana Region in Venezuela, and Amapá in Brazil), are often included due to their political and cultural ties with the region.
Geopolitically, the Caribbean islands are usually regarded as a subregion of North America and are organized into 30 territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and dependencies. From December 15, 1954, to October 10, 2010, there was a country known as the Netherlands Antilles composed of five states, all of which were Dutch dependencies. From January 3, 1958, to May 31, 1962, there was also a short-lived political union called the West Indies Federation composed of ten English-speaking Caribbean territories, all of which were then British dependencies. The West Indies cricket team continues to represent many of those nations.

Belém é um município brasileiro e capital do estado do Pará, situado na região Norte do país. A cidade foi fundada em 12 de janeiro de 1616 pelos portugueses, desenvolvendo-se às margens da baía Guajará (Paraná-Guaçu). Belém é uma cidade histórica e portuária, localizada ao extremo nordeste da maior floresta tropical do mundo, sendo a capital mais chuvosa do Brasil devido a seu clima equatorial, influenciada diretamente pela Amazônia. O município possui uma área de 1 059,458 km² e uma altitude de dez metros ao nível médio do mar, estando a cerca de 2 140 km da capital federal, Brasília.
Belém é o município mais populoso do Pará e o segundo da região Norte, com uma população de 1.452.275 habitantes segundo estimativa do IBGE em 2017, e o 12º município mais populoso do Brasil. Ocupa a 22ª posição no ranking de IDH por capital (0,746, alto) e a sexta posição na lista de maiores IDH da região Norte – 3º maior IDH por capital por região.
Em seus 400 anos de história, Belém vivenciou momentos de plenitude, entre os quais o período áureo da borracha, no início do século XX, quando recebeu inúmeras famílias europeias, que influenciaram a arquitetura local, sendo conhecida na época como Paris na América. Atualmente, apesar de ser cosmopolita e moderna em vários aspectos, Belém não perdeu o ar tradicional das fachadas dos casarões e das igrejas do período colonial. Nas últimas duas décadas, passou por um forte movimento de verticalização, devido a novas tendências na construção civil local e o plano de valorização do espaço da cidade originada na década de 40 na Avenida Presidente Vargas.
A cidade exerce significativa influência como metrópole regional, influenciando mais de oito milhões de pessoas nos estados do Pará, Amapá e Tocantins, seja do ponto de vista cultural, econômico ou político. Belém possui importantes fortificações, igrejas, monumentos, parques e museus, como: o Theatro da Paz, o museu Emílio Goeldi, o parque Mangal das Garças, o mercado do Ver-o-Peso; e eventos culturais e religiosos de grande repercussão, como o Círio de Nazaré.

These are our first friends to come and they brought some North American treats that we have missed so much! Twinkies, sun flower seeds, macaroni and cheese, syrup, Air heads, root beer extract, clothes and more. It was better than Christmas and we were so excited!
While our friends were here we also did some fun things like watch a world cup game, go to Praia do Forte, Pelourinho, Elevador Lacerda, lots of beaches, jumping at Big Jump and more.
