Vitória , spelled Victória until the 1940s, is the capital of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. It is located on a small island within a bay where a number of rivers meet the sea. It was founded in 1551. The city proper 93 square kilometres has a population of 358,875 whilst the Greater Vitória metropolitan area has a population of more than 1,857,616 , the 14th largest in Brazil. Espírito Santo State Travel Video - Forming a narrow and long band between the ocean and the mountains, the state of Espírito Santo has a great potential for Travelism, offering to visitors beaches for all tastes; old buildings, and historic landmarks of its colonization. The origin of the capixaba people -- that´s how locals there are called -- comes from a mixture of Indians, blacks and Germans, among others.

Its capital, Vitória, stands out for sheltering one of the most important Brazilian ports, Tubarão -- and for offering excellent places for sports fishing. Besides, it is the second oldest city in the State. The oldest is Vila Velha, founded in 1534; but the hostility of the Goitacas indians who used to live in that region forced the colonizers to move to the island across it. In the land dispute, the Portuguese triumphed and gave the new settlement the name of Vitória. At present both cities prosper harmoniously, separated only by a 4.8km bridge.

The state of Espírito Santo holds a very diversified industry, standing out as the one which had the biggest economic development in the past few decades. Besides, the state is greatly responsible for the connection of the country with the international market. Its port complex is among the most efficient in Latin America.

Jalapão is a semi-arid microregion in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. Parts of the microregion have dramatic landscapes with large orange sand dunes, towering rock formations and fast-flowing clear rivers and streams. This is attractive to tourists, and led to Jalapão being chosen for a season of the US version of the Survivor TV series.
The region is a destination for adventure tourism and ecotourism, with the main attractions in Mateiros, - Fervrdoros , Cachoeria Formiga, Dunas do Jalapão and The Serra do Espirito Santo.

The Formiga Waterfall is a small watercourse fall, surrounded by lush vegetation, tall trees, ferns and shrubs of native palm trees. But the main attraction is the pool formed at the foot of the waterfall, where the waters of a lovely emerald green invite you to dive in. A jewel where you can swim and observe the nature which surrounds it. A beautiful tour for lovers of natural beauty.

Fervedouro
It seems like an oasis. Amidst closed vegetation, swamps and streams, there is a place of rare beauty surrounded by banana trees. In its center is a large pool of transparent blue water – in reality, the spring of an underground river. The water that springs from clear sand creates the phenomenon of upwelling, which makes it impossible for the most persistent swimmer to submerge. In a fervedouro, you’ll have fun and get to know the real feeling of lightness.
There are various fervedouros in the region of Mateiros. The most well known fervedouro is near Cachoeira da Formiga.
