So here is something really special.
Maybe my best Volcano Video ever.
You’d better to be ready for the Real treat!
This footage was shelved for whatever reasons more than 6 years only to be unearth in this short documentary about “Magical Volcanoes of New Zealand”.
We’ve visited New Zealand for 3 extensive trips between years 2000-2011 but all of the footage in this documentary is from our latest trip in January and February 2011.
New Zealand - in my opinion - the most beautiful country in the world was a cradle of movie version of Oscar awarded “The Lord o the Rings” Peter Jackson’s 2004 Academy award Trilogy which was partially filmed in different locations New Zealand’s North and South Island.
So it is not coincidence that some of you may see Mordor in many sequences of the movie.
Geologically New Zealand is located exactly on Plate Tectonics boundary of India/Australia and Pacific Plate where Pacific Plate is subducting underneath Australian plate right along the East Coast of South Island and then crossing North Island. That’s reason why so many tectonic activities – Catastrophic Earthquakes and Volcano Activities are periodically reoccurring through whole country.
During our last visit in New Zealand in 2011 we experience on February 22 2011 earthquake of Magnitude 6,3 Richter Scale which devastated city of Christchurch on East Coast of South Island. (Footage of earthquake which I made is posted on my YouTube site in movie “NEW ZEALAND – Memories of Paradise”).
Footage of all volcanoes in this documentary is from Volcanoes chain in North Island with exception of White Island Volcano which lays 50 km off coast of North Island.
