Not to be confused with Grandborough in WarwickshireGranborough is a village and civil parish within Aylesbury Vale district in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located about five miles north of Waddesdon, seven miles south east of Buckingham. The nearest town is Winslow. The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'green hill'. In the Domesday Book of 1086 the village was recorded as Grenesberga. Anciently the manor of Granborough was owned by the abbey at St Albans, though in the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1547 ownership passed automatically to the Crown.     Waddesdon Manor is a country house in the village of Waddesdon, in Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Aylesbury Vale, 6.6 miles west of Aylesbury. The Grade I listed house was built in the Neo-Renaissance style of a French château between 1874 and 1889 for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild as a weekend residence for grand entertaining and as a setting for his collection. The last member of the Rothschild family to own Waddesdon was James de Rothschild . He bequeathed the house and its contents to the National Trust. It is now managed by the Rothschild Foundation chaired by Jacob Rothschild, 4th Baron Rothschild. It is one of the National Trust's most visited properties, with over 467,000 visitors annually.
