Visit to Iraq
This is a 10 minute portion of a video I took when I visited Iraq in 2006 with Ron Sawl and Bryan Burry as the guest of the 101st Airborne in Tikrit, Iraq. We were involved with Brotherhood of the Badge, an organization that supplied surplus civilian police gear to Iraqi police officers. The area was still a very active combat area when we visited.
The first part of the video shows preparation for our combat patrol, a visit to one of Saddam's palaces as well as one he built for his mother after she died.
It then shows our visit to a police substation in Bayji, a place that had been repeatedly attacked.
Included in the video is something very historic. We were invited to attend the regional government meeting of all the democratically elected officials from the cities in the Salah ad Din Province. This meeting was the first of its kind EVER in the history of Iraq. We witnessed the birth of democracy in that country.
Also at the end of the video shows a graduation ceremony of police cadets at a training center located in Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdish region where we were the guests of honor. The joy of the cadets after graduating is the highlight of the whole video
Iraq's Vertical City Would Have World's Tallest
IRAQ “VERTICAL CITY” WOULD HAVE WORLD’S TALLEST TOWER
Groundbreaking vertical transportation would be part of The Bride tower, a proposed building in Basra Province, Iraq, by AMBS Architects that, at 1,152 m and 230 stories, would be the new world's tallest structure, dezeen reports. Surpassing the height of both the Kingdom Tower and Burj Khalifa, it is part of a four-tower, mixed-use vertical city that also includes 724-, 484- and 61-m-tall towers. A glazed canopy on the building's south façade resembles a veil and would shield it from heat. The building is designed to produce as much energy as it consumes. No timeframe for the project was given.

Hazrat Muhammad ibn Muslim (Arabic: محمد بن مسلم) and Ibraheem ibn Muslim (Arabic: إبراهيم بن مسلم) were the sons of Muslim ibn Aqeel and the grandsons of Aqeel ibn Abu Talib. Muslim ibn Aqeel was the messenger of Imam Hussain ibn Ali to the people of Kufa, while Aqeel ibn Abu Talib was the brother of Ali ibn Abu Talib and the cousin of Muhammad. These children are also included among the martyrs of the Battle of Karbala.
EVENT IN KUFA :
After Imam Muslim ibn Aqeel was martyred, Muhammad and Ibraheem were also arrested and put into a dungeon. It is said that Muhammad was just eight years old and Ibraheem was ten years old.
BURIAL :
The two innocent children of Imam Muslim ibn Aqeel that were killed brutally near the river of Euphrates, are supposed to be buried near the town of Musayyib, Babil Province, Iraq.
