Mbuzini is a village in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Situated near the borders with Mozambique and Swaziland, it is the village where Mozambican president, Samora Machel, and 34 other passengers died in an aeroplane crash in 1986. A memorial service is held every year on 19 October at the site of the crash, which features a monument to the event.

    Samora Moisés Machel was a Mozambican military commander, politician and revolutionary. A socialist in the tradition of Marxism–Leninism, he served as the first President of Mozambique from the country's independence in 1975. Machel died in office in 1986 when his presidential aircraft crashed near the Mozambique-South Africa border.
