Scotland on Screen - Mary Queen of Scots
One of Scotland’s most iconic female enigmas, Mary Queen of Scots, is famed among Scottish history for her questionable character and all the things she did to stay in power. But who is she really; a selfless martyr, or an icy and manipulative adulteress?
Follow in the footsteps of Mary, her short life, and all the difficulties she faced along the way in the new blockbuster movie Mary Queen of Scots, releasing Friday 18 January 2019, starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.
An iconic Scottish location that makes an appearance in the film is Glencoe. Previously starring in Skyfall, Glencoe in the Highlands is one of the most popular destinations for tourists, locals, outdoor enthusiasts and filmmakers alike, and once you’re here it’s easy to see why! Keep your eyes peeled to spot this mesmerising location in the film when Mary leads her army across the country.
Previously featuring in the recent production of Outlaw King, Blackness Castle in West Lothian also appears in the film, with scenes filmed in and around the castle, which stood in for the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
Tantallon Castle in East Lothian is a formidable fortress which was once a stronghold of the Douglas family and boasts incredible towers that offer stunning views out to sea. The beaches nearby were used as a filming location in the movie, and it has also been said that Mary herself visited the castle in 1566.
Further north, the Cairngorms National Park is full of forests, mountains, lochs, rivers and trails that creates an unbelievable atmosphere to explore. But this park has an ancient history too. The beautiful Glen Feshie Estate near Newtonmore in the Cairngorms, is another location where filming took place. History says that Mary once guided her army through the park before ambushing rebel soldiers on the Poldullie Bridge at Strathdon.

Hotel Room Review - Britannia Hotel Room 910 - Nottingham UK
Join me as I look around the hotel rooms of the world. As I stay and try each room I make a review and share it with people who just want to see what hotels have to offer inside their rooms.
Today we look at the Britania Hotel in Nottingham centre. Errr to be honest it's a hotel that needs a bit of a revamp. With so many things breaking down at the hotel there must be really struggling. the hotel did have a great view and one morning a hot air balloon went past which was nice to get on camera
It is very close to the night life and can be a tad noisy.

The Swan Hotel at Lavenham
The Swan was built in about 1400 and comprises three houses dating from the same era. The oldest part dates back to the late 14th Century. It is not known when conversion to an Inn took place, but it was well established by 1667, when the then Landlord, John Girling, issued a 'Trader's Token'. The Girling family still live in Lavenham to this day.
From the 14th to the 16th century, Lavenham was at the centre of England's cloth making industry and it was exporting its famous broadcloth as far as Russia and North Africa. In 1524, it was named the fourteenth wealthiest town in the country, however heavy taxation in the mid 1520s and disrupted export markets through war on the continent brought a rapid decline in the industry. All this helps explain why most timber-framed buildings here date from about 1460 to 1530 since there was no wealth left to build anything of quality later in the century. Many reminders of its industrious past still remain, including the beautiful 16th century Guildhall which dominates the market square. Once a meeting place of wool traders, a prison, workhouse and almshouse, it is now owned by The National Trust and has a beautiful garden where dye plants are grown, including Woad which was used to dye various shades of the famous Lavenham Blue Cloth
Today, Lavenham is the country's finest example of a Medieval village. With over 300 listed buildings and a labyrynth of small narrow streets, it has changed little since the 15th century. The Church of St Peter and St Paul, dating back to 1486, dominates the town, with its tower standing at 141ft high. Its significant size reflects the prosperity of Lavenham at the time.

Hotel Room Review - IBIS Nottingham City Centre Room 520
Please join me as I look around the hotel rooms of the world. From the North America to the Netherlands, we see what's inside those fancy and not so fancy hotels.
This week I stayed at the IBIS Nottingham City Centre for about the 10th time. Every week I stay in a different room but every one of those rooms is laid out exactly the same. I just wanted to update my experiences of staying at the IBIS. For me it is an ideal, well placed, clean and freshly decorated hotel. And at a good price it is well worth a stay

The surrounded area is blessed with tea estates, tea factories, mini waterfalls, water streams, natural rock pools and mini jungles. In addition, within 20 km from the bungalow, there are number of places to visit which are the most popular and world famous tourist destinations in hill country. Some of them are Ambuluwawa,Kothmale reservoir, Kothmale Dam, and Kothmale Maha Seya.

Meals can be prepared by the guest themselves with their own provisions or they can provide you experienced cook who can cook a wide range of western,eastern , Chinese and Sri Lankan menus.Optionally, you can directly order the meals from their menu.Also BBQ facility is available with them.
