Just 3 hours from Miami and 8 from London is Antigua, the largest island in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua’s capital is St. John’s, a port town of plantation shutters, iron roofs and colors as bright as our spirit. Mix up a little history and shopping down by the city’s quays, where old shop houses have been given new life as cafes, bars and duty-free boutiques.
Take a break from the noonday sun in the shade of the old Courthouse, now the home of the national museum. Then, spend a lazy afternoon walking the ramparts of the harbor’s fortifications.
Just to the north of St. John’s, you’ll find Runaway Beach and Dickenson Bay, home to some of the purest sands and finest resorts in the West Indies.
On the island’s eastern side, visit the historic sugar plantation, Betty’s Hope. A few miles east, feel the power of nature at Devil’s Bridge, a natural arch carved by Atlantic waves.
Let the breeze carry you further around the Island, to beauty spots like Half Moon Bay and Mamora Bay, then drop anchor for a while at English Harbor.

There are two tiny Islands in the heart of the Caribbean virtually untouched by modern day tourism. In the early eighteenth century, the British Royal Navy recognized the strategic importance of English Harbour in protecting ships from hurricanes and in its position at the south of the island for monitoring French naval activity. Throughout the eighteenth century, the dockyard grew in importance, as it was the only harbour in the Eastern Caribbean large enough for safe naval ship repairs. From 1784 through 1787, the British Hero of Trafalgar, Horatio Nelson, served as the captain of the H.M.S Boreas, sent to Antigua to enforce British laws in the colonies. When the restoration of the dockyard began in the 1950’s, it was renamed Nelson’s Dockyard in honour of the years he spent in Antigua.
Today, Nelson’s Dockyard provides many sites and activities for visitors to explore and enjoy. The Dockyard Museum, located in the former Admiral’s House, presents visitors with exhibits regarding the Dockyard’s history and current archaeological research on the island. The Copper and Lumber Store Hotel offers five-star accommodations and is a magnificent venue for special occasions. Businesses including gift shops, art galleries, and restaurants also reside in the Dockyard and demonstrate how the park preserves the area’s unique cultural heritage while meeting modern needs.”

Okay guys, this one's a long time coming. We went to Antigua in May of 2018, however the editing process of this video took some time due to the lack of...willpower we'll call it. This was actually prior to my Cuba trip and as such my first time in the Caribbean. Also, might I add, that the place we stayed in was from Airbnb and not a resort.
