This is the footage from our Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales Chile portion of the Vantage Deluxe World Travel, 2013 Presidents Patagonia Cruise Tour - The Majestic Andes and Chilean Fjords with Pre & Post Trip Extensions to Atacama, Chili and Iguassu Falls, Brazil. We returned from this trip with over 3000 photos and 35 Hours of video. To make it manageable, the videos have been split and produced by location. This 70 Minute Video features our stay in Punta Arenas and Transfer by Bus to Puerto Natalis, Chile. Obviously, the video is intended for those of us that were on the trip - otherwise, you will probably find it quite boring.

Ushuaia is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina. It is commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world (a title long disputed by smaller Puerto Williams). Ushuaia is located in a wide bay on the southern coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, bounded on the north by the Martial mountain range and on the south by the Beagle Channel. It is the only municipality in the Department of Ushuaia, which has an area of 9,390 km2 (3,625 sq mi).

Tourist attractions include the Tierra del Fuego National Park and Lapataia Bay. The park can be reached by highway, or via the End of the World Train (Tren del Fin del Mundo) from Ushuaia. The city has a museum of Yámana, English, and Argentine settlement, including its years as a prison colony. Wildlife attractions include local birds, penguins, seals, and orcas, many of these species colonizing islands in the Beagle Channel. There are daily bus and boat tours to Harberton, the Bridges family compound. Tours also visit the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Les Eclaireurs is sometimes confused with the Lighthouse at the End of the World (Faro del fin del mundo) made famous by Jules Verne in the novel of the same name; but the latter lies some 200 mi (320 km) east of Ushuaia on Isla de los Estados (Staten Island).

Since 2007 Ushuaia has hosted the Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo del Fin del Mundo (Bienniel of Contemporary Art at the End of the World), created and organized by the Patagonia Arte & Desafío Foundation under the rubric South Pole of the Arts, Sciences, and Ecology. The Bienal has gathered over one hundred artists from five continents addressing the motto think at the End of the World that another world is possible. As a pedagogical project it encourages students at all levels to think about a better world.

In addition to being a vacation destination for local and international tourists, Ushuaia is also the key access point to the Southern Ocean, including subantarctic islands such as South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and Antarctic islands such as the South Orkney Islands and the South Shetland Islands. Its commercial pier is the major port of departure in the world for tourist and scientific expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula.[citation needed] Cruise ships visiting the Falkland Islands (referred to by Argentinians as Islas Malvinas) and Antarctica dock at the port, as well as Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Celebrity Cruises, which transit between Valparaíso, Chile, to Buenos Aires and beyond. Antarpply Expeditions, Global Maritime, Hurtigruten, Lindblad Expeditions, Orient Lines, Quark Expeditions, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and other passenger and freight lines provide regularly scheduled services between Ushuaia and all local seaports and settlements. Australis Cruises provides regular service between Ushuaia and Punta Arenas from September to April. Tourists can also visit Cape Horn (in Chilean waters) by boat or helicopter.

Patagonia is an area of undescribable natural beauty. Patagonia in Chile is made up of wonders such as the beautiful Torres del Paine National Park, the immense Chilean Fjords and the complex system of rivers and lakes that frame the end of the Andes Mountain range have to be seen to be believed.

As the world grows in population there are just fewer and fewer places where one can really experience one-on-one with nature. Patagonia is one of those places.
We have been married for thirty years and we took our honeymoon to Chile. As part of our story, Chile is in our most beloved photo albums and videos.
From the mere name, Patagonia evokes travel, it evokes wonder and mystery.
Feeling the wind at night that moves your tents gives you the sense that you are quite small in this vastness. Seeing this place and understanding this vastness, it absorbs me, it consumes me.
That's what we feel.

Sail through Patagonia
In 2010 I joined Milo Dahlmann as crew on Artemisia II, a 32 feet sailboat, on her way to Antartica from Sweden and back. I was on board during the sail through Patagonia, from Valdivia and Ushuaia. This is the film from that trip with footage from anchorages (caletas) and channels and all the beauty of the landscape. The films and phots has been waiting to be put together for eight years, but now it is done and I hope it can be of some guidance witch includes some lessons learned, suggestions and tips. In Patagonia I suspect the changes are slow so most of the information should be valid today as well. Welcome on board!

Puerto Natales in Patagonia Chile
Puerto Natales is a port city on the Señoret Channel in Chile’s southern Patagonia. It’s the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park to the northwest, and the port for boats touring the Patagonian fjords. The Municipal Historical Museum in the city center exhibits artifacts from the region’s indigenous population. To the north is the vast Mylodon Cave, once inhabited by prehistoric, slothlike mylodons.

Punta Arenas (literally in Spanish: Sandy Point) is the most prominent settlement on the Strait of Magellan and the capital of the Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena Region, Chile. Located on the Brunswick Peninsula, Punta Arenas is the southernmost city of its size in the world. Punta Arenas is the third largest city in the entire Patagonian Region. In 2002, it had a population of 120,000.
This video begins as we sail into the harbor on the Star Princess and drop anchor. The first thing we see are many dolphins swimming in the harbor. Next we drive along the main street in Punta Arenas viewing the many monuments along the way. Next there is a visit to the Patagonian Institute Museum which is followed by a visit to the cemetery which is landscaped with many beautiful cypress trees. The video concludes with a walk through the town square followed by a hilltop view of the city looking out toward the Strait of Magellan.

Hey guys, join us on our trip to Puerto Rico! We were celebrating the wife and I 30th and 32nd Birthday. We we’re suppose to go to BALI however, the sitter fell through so we turned it into a family vacation. Anyhow, we arrived in San Juan and decided to rent a car which we highly recommend because the island has plenty of interesting spots that you would want to visit so therefore having your own wheels is worth it. We decided this trip to do something different so we tried our first Airbnb and lets just say we’re “HOOKED”. It was located in Fajardo which is an hour outside of San Juan. We recommend this area because it’s away from all the tourist spots giving you a true “local” experience. Our Airbnb was truly breathtaking and super modern. We highly recommend it (link below). Day 2 we decided to check out Luqillo Beach that had beautiful hues of blue and the Caribbean waters were very warm. We picked our Parents up from the airport and decided to try BEBO BBQ which was tasty to say the least and very authentic Puerto Rican food. We even tried Plantains which were surprisingly good as we had never tried them before. Day 3 we decided to explore Old San Juan and the two forts San Felipe and San Cristobal. Our last day in San Juan we visited El Yunque National Forrest and that was an experience we shall never forget. Make sure when you visit not to give up on the drive the forest entrance can have nerve wracking turns and steep inclines but the trip is so worth it. Well thats it, hope you all enjoy!!!
