Otjozondjupa region is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia, its capital is Otjiwarongo. An outstanding landmark within this region is the Waterberg Plateau Park. Administration offices are based in Otjiwarongo which is the largest town in the region. In the east, Otjozondjupa borders the North-West District of Botswana. Domestically, it borders the following regions: Omaheke - southeast Khomas - south Erongo - southwest Kunene - northwest Oshikoto - north Kavango - northeastOtjozondjupa borders more regions than any other region of Namibia.

  • 1. Cheetah Conservation Fund Otjiwarongo
    The Cheetah Conservation Fund is a research and lobby institution in Namibia concerned with the study and sustenance of the country's cheetah population, the largest and healthiest in the world. Its Research and Education Centre is located 44 kilometres east of Otjiwarongo. The CCF was founded in 1990 by conservation biologist Laurie Marker who won the 2010 Tyler Prize for her efforts in Namibia.

  • 2. Waterberg National Park Otjiwarongo
    Waterberg Plateau Park is a national park in central Namibia on the Waterberg Plateau, 68 kilometres south-east of Otjiwarongo. The plateau and the national park are named after the prominent table mountain that rises from the plateau, the Waterberg . The Waterberg Plateau is a particularly prominent location, elevating high above the plains of the Kalahari of Eastern Namibia. Waterberg Park and some 405 square kilometres of surrounding land were declared a Nature Reserve in 1972. As the plateau is largely inaccessible from beneath several of Namibia's endangered species were relocated in the early 1970s to protect them from predators and poaching to extinction.   • 4. Hoanib River Kaokoland
    The Hoanib is one of the 12 ephemeral seasonal rivers in the west of Namibia, where it was the border between northern Damaraland and Kaokoland. Its length is 270 km. With the low population density, the oasis character of the river valley and the relatively high wildlife population of Hoanib, together with the Hoarusib its valley is one of the last true wilderness areas in Namibia, one of the last settlements of desert elephants and shows strong wind and water eroded and weathered stone deposits . Inflows of Hoanib are Ombonde, Ganamub, Mudorib and Tsuxab.

  • 5. Otjikoto Lake Tsumeb
    Otjikoto Lake is the smaller of only two permanent natural lakes in Namibia. It is a sinkhole lake that was created by a collapsing karst cave. It is located 20 kilometres north-west of Tsumeb and only 100 meters from the main road B1. The lake was declared a national monument in 1972.The diameter of the lake is 102 metres ; its depth is undetermined. According to a Namibian tourism information organisation, the depth varies from sixty two meters at the side to one hundred meters in the center, and in some places leading off from the side depths of one hundred meters have been recorded, while an article in the Allgemeine Zeitung explains the depth problem: the lake tapers into a lateral cave system making it impossible to determine its exact depth, estimated to be in access of 142 meters. ...
