Hawkesbury Upton is a village in South Gloucestershire, England, east of the much smaller Hawkesbury. It lies north of Horton, east of Dunkirk and south of Alderley and Hillesley. Hawkesbury Upton is close to the A46 road. The village lies on the Cotswold Way and exhibits many of the characteristics of a Cotswold village, including use of the local limestone in the majority of the buildings. The village has two pubs – the Beaufort Arms and the Fox Inn, both on the High Street – a primary school, a village shop, a post office and a hair salon. There is also a village hall with a recreation ground and a cricket club.

The River Thames, known alternatively in parts as the Isis, is a river that flows through southern England including London. At 215 miles , it is the longest river entirely in England and the second longest in the United Kingdom, after the River Severn. It flows through Oxford , Reading, Henley-on-Thames and Windsor. The lower reaches of the river are called the Tideway, derived from its long tidal reach up to Teddington Lock. It rises at Thames Head in Gloucestershire, and flows into the North Sea via the Thames Estuary. The Thames drains the whole of Greater London.Its tidal section, reaching up to Teddington Lock, includes most of its London stretch and has a rise and fall of 23 feet . Running through some of the driest parts of mainland Britain and heavily abstracted for drinking water...

Admiral Hood Monument, Compton Dundon, Somerset.

The Hood monument is a memorial column to Sir Samuel Hood on a hill near Butleigh in the parish of Compton Dundon, Somerset, England.
The monument is a 110 feet (33.5 m) Tuscan column on a cuboid ashlar base set on two tall steps, the lower supporting a wrought iron railing enclosure. There was a doorway at the base but this was sealed in 1990.[2] The crown is a sculpture on a nautical theme with the sterns of four galleons interspersed with four mainsails above laurel wreaths and surmounted by a naval crown.[3]
It was paid for by public subscription and designed by Henry Goodridge.[1]
It has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II* listed building.[4]
There is an inscription written by Robert Southey.
It was originally linked to the Hood family home at Butleigh by a mile long avenue of cedar trees
