1. The Cotswold RangeSomerford Keynes The River Thames, known alternatively in parts as the Isis, is a river that flows through southern England including London. At 215 miles , it is the longest river entirely in England and the second longest in the United Kingdom, after the River Severn. It flows through Oxford , Reading, Henley-on-Thames and Windsor. The lower reaches of the river are called the Tideway, derived from its long tidal reach up to Teddington Lock. It rises at Thames Head in Gloucestershire, and flows into the North Sea via the Thames Estuary. The Thames drains the whole of Greater London.Its tidal section, reaching up to Teddington Lock, includes most of its London stretch and has a rise and fall of 23 feet . VISIT WILLIAM TYNDAL MONUMENT - FREE THINGS TO DO IN SOUTH WEST ENGLAND
Standing high on top of Nibley Knoll stands the William Tyndale Monument.
The tower stands 111ft tall and dominates the skyline of the peaceful village of Nibley.
On a clear day a 120 step climb to the top will be rewarded with fantastic views across the river Severn as far as Wales.
Parking is available in a lay-by at the foot of the hill, and a 10 - 15 minute walk of medium difficulty will take you to the peak of the hill where the tower stands.
There is an honesty box at the entrance to the tower if you decide climb to the top, please give generously as all money goes towards upkeep and maintenance of this magnificent monument.
The tower was constructed in 1863 in remembrance of William Tyndale l who gave his life to translate the New Testament into English in 1526.
